As Seen On TV

February 11th, 2009 @ 11:55 am by Mrs. Cheese

Yup. I’m one of THOSE people, the people who buy things they see on TV (hi, Mr. Ducky!). I still use the Super Chef knives I bought in 1997, sometimes even to cut through aluminum cans! Sorry, can’t find the link. Evidently they didn’t take the country by storm as expected.

In my defense, it’s hereditary. I’m pretty sure I saw Miracle Blade knives at my mom’s house over the holidays. Don’t even get me started on the wonders of QVC and HSN, okay?

After all the build-up, you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I own, and love, The Snuggie. I don’t care what The Today Show folks think! Okay, yes, they do look ridiculous, and I’m sure I do too, all five feet nothing of me wrapped in a slightly monk-ish looking blanket with arms.

What does this have to do with weddings? Consider this permission to gift your favorite couple with a Snuggie for their wedding. C’mon, you get the second one free! Do it. They’ll either love it or get a kick out of your wit.

Do you have any favorite As Seen on TV stories? Better yet, do you have a Snuggie?

OH, I just bought a Snuggie for my step-sister. Mostly as an inside joke, but I do know that she has been wanting one!

p.s. they have them at Walgreen’s for $14.99!

I’ve always wanted that Magic Bullet (ha).

Oops- funny story…in college I opened up a package, wondering what it was as I didn’t (remember) ordering anything. Turns out, after coming home from the bars & flipping on the TV, my roomates and I decided that we HAD to have the Monster Ballads CD.

It happened a few years later as well, when my roomate Laura ended up with about $200 worth of crappy makeup that she doesn’t remember ordering. We vowed to never turn on the TV after hours again!

I love, love, LOVE my GT Express. It makes some really delicious stuff (pizza roll-up = YUM!). I also have a Magic Bullet that I got as a gift after always talking about the commercials, but we mostly use it for milkshakes occassionally. The fiancee and I really want the Sham-WOW.

Take a quick trip to Bed Bath & Beyond! They have a whole “As Seen on TV” section! I think they have the Magic Bullet set there!!

Ok I have a Snuggie and I LOVE it!! My hubby bought it for me because I am always wrapped in a blanket trying to read and it’s fanstastic.

Your timing on this is SO funny! My FH got me the QVC version of the Snuggie (aka the Slanket) for Christmas, and it finally shipped to us yesterday. YESTERDAY. I love it! He ended up getting me something else because it was on backorder, and I told him he never should have said anything because it would have been a good Valentine’s Day gift. Oh well, double presents for me! :)

Okay not to bash the Snuggie, but wouldn’t a fuzzy robe be more practical? And make it easier to do stuff in? Those commercials drive me nuts! But do make me laugh :)

I really love you guys. I’m giggling reading all of this.

@Kendicles: Yea, probably. It’s really awkward to walk in because it’s so long, in fact. But when you’re sitting on the couch not moving (except for your arms!) it’s incredibly perfect. Swear.

My FI & I joke that we need snuggies when the blankets we have on the couch aren’t long enough. I would LOVE one (mostly for the Jedi robe inspired jokes it would produce!).

The Snuggie (or Slanket- the air mall version!) is an inside joke between me, my brother and sister. Totally hilarious, yet I’d secretly LOVE one!

My baby brother, who is in college, owns and brags about his Snuggie constantly!! He has gotten a lot of flack from his friends about it, but now they all want one. Oh, and Mr. G is obsessed with infomercials. The Magic Bullet, anyone? Gets him every time!

My fiance got me a Slanket about 2 years ago and I’m obsessed with it. I don’t care HOW stupid it looks…it’s not like I’m walking around the house with it, I use it on the couch!! And my arms and hands stay nice and toasty warm while I’m reading. It’s awesome.

You know that hair remover NADS? Yeah, well, I bought it thinking it would be awesome. As a har remover not so much, but it was tasty! Yes, it was possibly the grossest thing I’ve ever done, but Mr. K already knows how I am so I don’t have to pretend I’m ashamed!

We also bought a Wolfgang Puck deep fryer from HSN or QVC, and it was awesome. It worked so well.

My FH got me the slanket for Christmas (along with my fabulous engagment ring! :) ) and I absolutely love it!! It’s not my favorite color and it definitely doesn’t match my living room color scheme but it gets the job done. I’m usually sweating after an hour under it. According to my honey though, as ridiculous as I look in it, it’s worth it to not have my cold feet on him ;)

My FH got me the snuggie for christmas and it finally arrived last week. I can’t even express how much I love, love, love it! It is absolutly perfect since I am always cold, especially while trying to read at night.

Also, Ms. Cheese - my FH is addicted to infomercials as well, in fact we met at a company where we both had to write them. Anyway, he starts off making fun of the product and saying how terrible it is - then bam - I can tell the instant he is hooked and he needs to order the set of 200 knives because he gets a second set free and they are such a good deal! But what in the world we would do with 400 knives is beyond me!

Oh my gosh! I am an infomercial junkie, and I routinely watch QVC and HSN. I received a Snuggie for Christmas, and I love it! I am always freezing, so I wear it 24/7 when I am working from home. I also am a proud owner of the Magic Bullet, and it did not disappoint!! I hate to admit this, but we recently added a set of ShamWows to our registry!

I don’t have the Snuggie yet, but I’m super psyched now that I have rave review from bees!

BTW Quiche- the Magic Bullet is AWESOME! I use it constantly, then sit on the couch drinking my smoothie using my Suzanne Sommers Thighmaster. Can’t forget the classics!

My grandmother buys EVERYTHING on QVC. We always get singing candles or strange housewares for Christmas.

But my office pod mate has a snuggie and loves it. Or maybe she just thinks it’s funny. And it is. Very, very funny.

My 5 year old neice has a Snuggie. She loves it!! I was at my sister’s for the Superbowl and we were all taking turns wearing the Snuggie while waving our Terrible Towels… just like the commercial says, it really is convenient for keeping your hands free to do other things! :)

I’m showing Mr. Ducky this post when he gets home from work tonight!

We once bought Sham-wow from stand at the mall, but I’m pretty sure they are fake. However, when ever something spills Mr. Ducky goes running for the Sham-wow. Our most recent mishap was with red wine on a rug…it came out with the assistance of club soda and some scrub bubbles.

Anyone remember the Infinite Dress??? It was one dress with straps that could be moved around and worn in a million different ways?

omg…Mr Corn is a total infomercial addict…ablounge, abrocker, GFGrill, etc, etal.

The snuggie makes me laugh because when the whole family is wearing them, they look like they are in a cult waiting for their leader to beam them all away :)

This post is hilarious! The Snuggie commercials crack. me. up.

I don’t usually *buy* things from infomercials, but I’m totally guilty of putting on QVC to just watch it — It’s strangely fascinating for some reason. :)

I’m like that too, I have the Magic Bullet (not so magical), the FIRM, that knife sharpener thing the OxyClean guys promotes, and countless items I buy from the As-Seen-On-TV store (I LOVE that store!!). If you are cold, why isn’t your baby under a blanket?? LOL
