As Seen On TV

February 11th, 2009 @ 11:55 am by Mrs. Cheese

Yup. I’m one of THOSE people, the people who buy things they see on TV (hi, Mr. Ducky!). I still use the Super Chef knives I bought in 1997, sometimes even to cut through aluminum cans! Sorry, can’t find the link. Evidently they didn’t take the country by storm as expected.

In my defense, it’s hereditary. I’m pretty sure I saw Miracle Blade knives at my mom’s house over the holidays. Don’t even get me started on the wonders of QVC and HSN, okay?

After all the build-up, you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I own, and love, The Snuggie. I don’t care what The Today Show folks think! Okay, yes, they do look ridiculous, and I’m sure I do too, all five feet nothing of me wrapped in a slightly monk-ish looking blanket with arms.

What does this have to do with weddings? Consider this permission to gift your favorite couple with a Snuggie for their wedding. C’mon, you get the second one free! Do it. They’ll either love it or get a kick out of your wit.

Do you have any favorite As Seen on TV stories? Better yet, do you have a Snuggie?

OH, I just bought a Snuggie for my step-sister. Mostly as an inside joke, but I do know that she has been wanting one!

p.s. they have them at Walgreen’s for $14.99!

I’ve always wanted that Magic Bullet (ha).

Oops- funny story…in college I opened up a package, wondering what it was as I didn’t (remember) ordering anything. Turns out, after coming home from the bars & flipping on the TV, my roomates and I decided that we HAD to have the Monster Ballads CD.

It happened a few years later as well, when my roomate Laura ended up with about $200 worth of crappy makeup that she doesn’t remember ordering. We vowed to never turn on the TV after hours again!

I love, love, LOVE my GT Express. It makes some really delicious stuff (pizza roll-up = YUM!). I also have a Magic Bullet that I got as a gift after always talking about the commercials, but we mostly use it for milkshakes occassionally. The fiancee and I really want the Sham-WOW.

Take a quick trip to Bed Bath & Beyond! They have a whole “As Seen on TV” section! I think they have the Magic Bullet set there!!

Ok I have a Snuggie and I LOVE it!! My hubby bought it for me because I am always wrapped in a blanket trying to read and it’s fanstastic.

Your timing on this is SO funny! My FH got me the QVC version of the Snuggie (aka the Slanket) for Christmas, and it finally shipped to us yesterday. YESTERDAY. I love it! He ended up getting me something else because it was on backorder, and I told him he never should have said anything because it would have been a good Valentine’s Day gift. Oh well, double presents for me! :)

Okay not to bash the Snuggie, but wouldn’t a fuzzy robe be more practical? And make it easier to do stuff in? Those commercials drive me nuts! But do make me laugh :)

I really love you guys. I’m giggling reading all of this.

@Kendicles: Yea, probably. It’s really awkward to walk in because it’s so long, in fact. But when you’re sitting on the couch not moving (except for your arms!) it’s incredibly perfect. Swear.

My FI & I joke that we need snuggies when the blankets we have on the couch aren’t long enough. I would LOVE one (mostly for the Jedi robe inspired jokes it would produce!).

haha, they’re great! I mean, it’s just SO HARD to answer the phone when you are hibernating under a real blanket;)

So if you like the Snuggie, check out the Smitten:

Mr. Sushi and I always joke about the snuggie since I’m ALWAYS cold. You’re the second person in 3 days to tell they own one and love it. Got me thinking….

The Snuggie (or Slanket- the air mall version!) is an inside joke between me, my brother and sister. Totally hilarious, yet I’d secretly LOVE one!

My baby brother, who is in college, owns and brags about his Snuggie constantly!! He has gotten a lot of flack from his friends about it, but now they all want one. Oh, and Mr. G is obsessed with infomercials. The Magic Bullet, anyone? Gets him every time!

My fiance got me a Slanket about 2 years ago and I’m obsessed with it. I don’t care HOW stupid it looks…it’s not like I’m walking around the house with it, I use it on the couch!! And my arms and hands stay nice and toasty warm while I’m reading. It’s awesome.

You know that hair remover NADS? Yeah, well, I bought it thinking it would be awesome. As a har remover not so much, but it was tasty! Yes, it was possibly the grossest thing I’ve ever done, but Mr. K already knows how I am so I don’t have to pretend I’m ashamed!

We also bought a Wolfgang Puck deep fryer from HSN or QVC, and it was awesome. It worked so well.
