About Mrs. Duckling

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

February 12th, 2009 @ 4:47 pm by Mrs. Duckling

I’ve been waiting to post these until I had made sure each bridesmaid received her card. I still have a few left but I couldn’t wait any longer.

To make the cards I used my Cricut that I received from Mr. Ducky for my birthday. I love my Cricut! While the cards were rather labor intensive because I individually did each letter and shape, I’m happy with how they all turned out. I made each card a little different, adjusting the colors and fonts to the personalities of each bridesmaid. I wanted to give each girl something special that involved a picture of us together.

I have 2 Maids of Honor! Yes, a little unusual, but let me explain my thinking.

My two Maids of Honor are my best friends from high school. I also went to college with one of them, and she was a sorority sister. It has always been the three of us together, since way back in our high school cheer days, and our never-ending coffee dates at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. It made sense that my wedding would include our team of 3. Also, they are two of the most busy people in the world, and I am hoping that sharing the duties can alleviate any possible stress.

A few close-ups of some individual cards…

I used vellum envelopes and traced the name of each girl on the front. When you look at the front of each envelope you can see the picture of us underneath. It was a fun effect; I am thinking about using vellum in our wedding invitations, as well.

And those are the bridesmaids’ cards! What do you think? Let me know if you have any questions about how I did anything. If you are interested in buying a Cricut let me know. I’ve been seeing some good deals that are more affordable than what is listed on Cricut website.

If you liked these, wait until I show you the new gadget Mr. Ducky gave me for Christmas to add to my crafting collection. You will see my first little test projects soon!

Did you use any other cartridges besides the Storybook one? And did you buy or make the vellum envelopes? I’ve never seen them for sale anywhere…

I am so jealous of your cricuit but I think I must wait to get one until I have more space. Ugh apartments suck when you have no place to craft. Oh and your cards turned out great.

@Hanna: I haven’t totally figured out who will stand next to me. However, one MOH is friends with the best man from college so they may be paired just for fun.
@BetaBride, @ready2bmrsd:, @MightySapphire: Check Wallmart. I’ve seen some good prices there. The other place is an online store called Custom Crops (www.customcrops.com). If you get on your mailing list they sometimes have awesome prices. Also, I have just the regular cricut and the size has been great. It’s a much better price than the other 2. I haven’t seen Michael’s put cricuts on sale, but their cartridges do go on sale sometimes, so keep an eye out for that.

@Steph: For the bridesmaid cards I just used the Storybook cartridge. There are soo many options on that cartridge from some reason compared to others. It is one of the more expensive ones but I think worth it.

They are fab by the way, I love the effect of seeing the picture through the vellum. Did you print the image or did you use the actual picture?

@MrsSl82be: I got the pictures printed at Longs and just glued them onto the front of the card. I liked the blurred image you saw when the card was still in its envelope.

Very cute card!! I like the fact that I’m not the only person with 2 maids of honor! :D They are both such a big part of my life, that I couldn’t just pick one over the other!

I love your website but I want everyone else to know you can purchase the Cricut through other sources such as ebay. I purchased mine from ebay for $237 and that included the shipping! The best way to find the best price is to google (google.com) the cricut and search out the best price. There are always specials going on at the online stores. And I purchased the Cricut Expression!
