About Mrs. Apple Cider

Our Photographer

February 12th, 2009 @ 11:29 am by Mrs. Apple Cider

Picking a photographer was quite the task. I thought about it for months (before I even was engaged). I drool over photographers’ blogs and dream of their pictures.

There were a few musts for me when choosing a photographer. They had to be creative, quirky, and non-traditional.

We had quotes from 10 photographers after only 2 weeks of being engaged. (Obsessed?! NO.) The prices were tough to handle… they ranged from $4K to $8K, and I didn’t know what to do. I really wanted to spend that much, but then the economy took a turn, and so did I.

But then, there was a bit of divine intervention. I reconnected with an old (extremely talented friend) named Anna. And by chance, she had just launched her new photography company, Anna Naphtali Photography. I was completely floored. Her pictures were beautiful, her spirit is amazing, and so I got in touch with her and locked her in.

I feel so great about the decision… I’m so calm and excited that we will work with someone I know, admire and trust. She is incredibly talented.

Her work is beautiful!

Are you hiring someone newer to the business for your photography? Where did you find your photographer?

She looks like she does amazing work!

We also booked someone who was just launching her career and had only a few weddings done when we met with her…and we’re very happy with our decision and how her work has progressed.

Mr. Stiletto is a photographer as well and is starting to book weddings…brides have done just the same thing as they’ve been booking him! His rates are a little lower, but the quality is great, and I know that helps with brides who are really looking at the bottom line but don’t want to sacrifice quality!

My photographer works for a larger company but is trying to start her own business up, also. I heard about her thru a friend of a friend, so I asked her to do engagement pics for us, which turned out great. I also had her do boudoir shots for me….and they were amazing. So I have absolutely zero doubts that she will capture every wedding moment perfectly. And I love supporting her as an indepent artist. Any Charlotte-area brides, let me know if you are looking for a fantastic photographer!!

Yes. We hired a friend from high school who had always loved photography. She is still just starting out, so not that much experience, but she is creative… and less expensive then other quotes I had recieved. I do fret that something will go wrong. I would be devasted, but I’m putting my trust in her and hoping they turn out well!

Your photos are gorgeous… We actually hired a friend of a friend. My photographer is new to the wedding industry in our area but her work is GREAT! She took our engagement pictures and they came out perfect! So, she is less expensive than the pros in our area but her work is just as good.

I found my photographer on craigslist. He’s a seasoned photojournalist who has done quite a bit of work as a second photographer at weddings, but is just starting out on his own as a solo wedding vendor. It’s a risk for us, but we love many of the photos he’s shown us and he’s throwing an engagement shoot into the deal. Wish us luck!

We actually hired a second shooter for our wedding, who is new to shooting weddings. She typically shoots family and maternity, but I am super confident she will do a great job :)

Great work!! We also hired a photographer who’s fairly new to the industry, but has great talent and shoots already like a seasoned pro. And definitely worth the pay!

I’m so scared of the costs of a good photographer. You are so lucky to have such a talented friend to photograph your wedding. I would love to find someone new in the industry like how Mrs. Tulip found Punam Bean. If only I can be so lucky.
