Wedding Portrait Ideas

February 13th, 2009 @ 3:19 pm by Mrs. Apple Cider

How cool are these? They are designed by Kristine Baerlin of Figment Studio. She is so talented!

Wouldn’t these be super fun for wedding portraits or even bridal portraits for the reception? What a unique idea this is!

Maybe I’m just weird, but I think these are actually a little freaky. On a less opinionated note, where would you use something like this in the reception?

There is a store near us that sells designs similar to the ones you’ve featured. I’ve always wanted to go in and look around. Thank you, Miss AC, for a fun and fresh perspective on wedding portraits!

These look like the Obama posters! (Or our very creative Hostess’ avatar: driftslikesmoke!)

As a designer myself, I’m going to have to say that is waaay overpriced for something you could do something very easily in Photoshop yourself. I might make a photoshop tutorial for this and put it in the DIY boards to save you guys some money. Yikes.

I just checked out her site, I didn’t realize that they were painted. In that case it isn’t overpriced, but you still could do the same thing in photoshop and get the same style yourself for free. :)

I actually don’t like these at all, somehow I think she’s managed to make the subjects look slightly evil and unsympathetic, but maybe that’s just me and my associations. However, I like the general idea of having painted wedding pictures, somehow that feels more durable than just ordinary photographs…

Have you spotted fleur northcote yet? http://perfectbound.blogspot.com/2008/07/designer-spotlight-fleur-northcote.html

His work is similar but has a style all its own.

Beautifully made. Some portraits will distort the image. But this work is different. You have such a great talent. Kudos!

Indeed it is cool. I like the wedding portraits. I wish I had a photo like during our wedding. However, it’s not yet too late, I can still make my other photos like this.

That’s a great concept. The picture is not distorted. The faces are clear with still the details on. I would like to see a photo of me and my son with this effects.

Portrait photography was something I am stumbling into as well, being mainly a landscape photographer. I never thought I’d like it because I quiver at the thought of trying to figure out how to pose someone, but I am fascinated by natural light portrait photography. You get what you get. I have three family members that don’t mind sitting for me, but I’m wondering how much longer this will be fun for them. Anyway, thanks again for the great pointers! Do you have pointers on natural light portraits or posing?
