Mr. Bee and I just got back from a delicious early dinner at Commerce, an up and coming West Village restaurant that we’ve always wanted to try. We even ran into Malcolm Gladwell on our walk home (he lives in the neighborhood)!
Commerce is on the first floor of the white building. This quaint area is called “the backlot” because so many movies and tv shows are filmed here.
Because it’s Valentine’s Day, check out this sweet little audio interview with a 90 year old wedding ring salesman. In the interview, the salesman mentions that married couples don’t kiss on the street… how often do you kiss your fiance or husband?

Aww… that was really adorable and brought a tear to my eye. He reminds me of my late New Yorker grandpa.
I’m so glad you guys had a nice dinner. We’re getting ready to go out ourselves (after some home improvement errands).
Did you speak to Mr. Gladwell? I haven’t read his new book, but Blink was phenomenal!
Wow! What a cool scene! No wonder if they fil things there! (That would be a cute place for a proposal!) I love that little old man! Although I hope we beat the stereotype when the Mister and me get married!!
We kiss on the street fairly often. Not huge, passionate kisses, but little, affectionate ones. And we hold hands most of time as we’re walking somewhere. I think it’s more than a little sad when people lose that; I hope we never do.
We don’t kiss on the street, although I just realized that if we kiss in public at all, it’s usually on an escalator! I think it’s because we’re just standing there, doing nothing, and I’m usually the same height as him since I always step on first… it’s an opportune time for a quick smooch!

My FH and I are constantly making out all over the place — we’re gross. But I love it. What a great video, Thank you for sharing Mrs. Bee! I hope you had a happy Vday!!
Mr. MagPie and I aren’t shy about (appropriate) PDA. 
We’ll give a peck pretty much anywhere but I can’t remember the last time we were just standing in the street. I hope we can find a street to kiss in. We’re just never standing in the street. Maybe in Jamaica where there’s less traffic lol!
I love storycorp! Sometimes they play that on PBS radio and I hear it on my drive home. That man is so cute! I love his “sales” approach of handing out cards to couples kissing in the street.
Mr. B and I kiss on the street sometimes. We don’t like kiss for the sake of kissing on the street, we’re not totaly into PDA, but you know, sometimes you just have to do it!!
I am a HUGE Malcolm Gladwell fan! Love all his books, he’s really sharp! He would be super fun to talk to at a dinner party, I bet:P
We love to kiss whenever the moment strikes, so sometimes that happens to be on the street…it’s too many times a day to count, though. =o)
we don’t. i am not into PDA. its going to be hard to do it on my wedding day, believe you me.

@ bellenga, I do not recommend stopping on the street in Jamaica! There’s plenty of traffic and not a lot of regard for peds
