About Mrs. Piglet

Bon Appetit

February 15th, 2009 @ 11:51 am by Mrs. Piglet

I love me some eggs in the morning. More specifically, my favorite is eggs with rice, ketchup, and kimchi (spicy Korean cabbage). This morning, there were two yolks in one of the eggs. :)

Doesn’t this look appetizing? Don’t worry, I never eat this before going to work in fear I may miss one of those little red peppers during the morning brush.

breakfast

I go on strict diets before trips to Hawaii and usually return with a swollen face. Reason being, every morning I head to Zippy’s for some fried Spam, eggs, and rice. If I’m feeling adventurous and want to change it up a bit, I go to McDonalds for the Portuguese sausage, eggs, and rice. If heading to the beach, I bring a stash of musubis in lieu of Pringles chips.

For dessert, I like to feast on malasadas.

We’re looking over the rehearsal dinner menu this weekend, and will likely include Hawaiian pupus (appetizers) in our selection. Are any of you including local favorites in your menu?

I want to do a bbq (which is king from where I grew up) for a rehersal dinner and have elements of low country cuisine at the reception (which is food regional to the state where I live now).

Kimchi huh..I saw a “No Reservations” episode where Tony Bourdain and his friend watched the making of kimchi! That’s something I wish I could try.

we’re getting married on the Big Island and I definitely plan to serve some local favorites at dinner. i’m also hoping for some midnight malasadas after hours of dancing…now i just need to figure out how to keep them warm for that long. ;)

I can’t believe I’m a “foodie” and about to say the following: The mocoloco is everywhere down there. So I had to do it…and liked! (Like really liked it.)

We’re thinking about roasting a pig for the rehearsal. I’m a huge fan of Hawaiian local favorites. I am fortunate to have a Hawaiian restaurant in walking distance from my house. There’s nothing like a “healthy” dose of spam in your fried rice ;)

It all looks delish!

1. That twin egg is way cool.
2. My grandma has that same plate, and I’ve never seen anyone else with it, lol.
3. That Portuguese sausage is linguiça (yes I’m Portuguese, that’s how I know). =o)
4. Those malasada’s are Portuguese, too.

Girl, now I’m wanting to take a trip to Hawaii to eat it all!

@Vic004: Sweet, a bakery I haven’t heard of! I’ll definitely check it out.

@MightySapphire: Am I missing out? I love spam. I love ramen. I’ve never tried the two together, but the thought of it makes my mouth water.

@Lillindy: I learn something new everyday! Didn’t realize malasadas has Portugal roots…

@BunnyBlue: That is such an AWESOME idea! I should make custom labels on tabasco sauce since it’s a staple amongst our friends.

@Miss Sushi: Down to the wire, Miss Sushi! I can’t believe March is already here! I’m so excited for youuuuuu. :)
