Bought It On Etsy

February 16th, 2009 @ 4:24 pm by Mrs. Stiletto

Over the past few months, I have fallen head over heels for Etsy.com. It is the planning resource that I think every bride should utilize - with a network of such creative individuals and a wide variety of prices, Etsy falls within everyone’s grasp.

I made my very first purchase on Etsy last September. I found a pair of earrings that I just had to have, and it didn’t matter that our wedding was a year away, or that I didn’t even have my dress. I needed these earrings, and the details of our wedding would just have to work around them!

Emily at Precious Meshes does an amazing job on all of her work. You can see the craftsmanship that goes into each piece, and almost every piece she creates is perfectly suited for wedding jewelry, but at the same time, doesn’t scream “wedding”.

I wanted something unique and special, while keeping away from pearls (they’re lovely, just not for me). These netted crystal earrings could not be more perfect - they have an amazing presence and yet they’re still delicate. They sparkle. And they’re made from “vintage faceted glass chandelier crystal”. They could be my something old!

I was able to take them along when I bought my dress… and yes, the dress did work around my perfect pair of earrings… like they were meant to find each other!

I can’t wait to work with Emily in the coming months as she works to create a necklace to pair perfectly with these earrings.

While I may be slightly out of control with my Etsy shopping sprees, one thing is for sure… our wedding will definitely be handmade. And in the meantime, I’ll just continue to enjoy the Etsy purchases the mailman leaves for me each and every day.

As a note about Etsy seller “Precious Meshes” -for anyone who is interested in checking her out, her shop is currently closed due to her maternity leave :) But you can choose to be notified when she’s back online! She’s seriously the best, I can’t wait to work with her on my necklace!

I also ADORE etsy for my wedding planning needs. I am planning on getting vintage clip on earrings for my shoes, a birdcage veil and maybe bridesmaid gifts on there. Such a creative network of resources!!!

I’m definitely with you on the Etsy Love. I bought this ring-bearer pillow last week: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11230087 and i can’t WAIT for it to arrive. Our wedding is ‘vintage chic’, and my new last name starts with an F, so it couldn’t be more perfect. I’m also working Countessa to design a bolero for my sister’s bridesmaid dress.

Those earrings are beautiful!

I too am addicted to etsy! My friends all laugh at me but I don’t care. It is one of the best resources for anyone not only those of us planning a wedding.

Etsy lovers unite!

I love your earrings, and especially the fact that they used to be a chandelier! What a wonderful story. I heart Etsy! :)

For serious! I’m so grateful for whoever first mentioned Etsy months and months ago. I ordered my hair flower from tijusai (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5373157). It’s coming all the way from Lithuania! Her shop has some beautiful things.

Ok I know I am probably really dumb, but I don’t understand how people really search Etsy? It always seems really hard to me to just browse around. I love the idea of Etsy, but I always just feel like I’m stumbling in the dark a bit….

@chicagowife:
It can definitely be overwhelming! But if you click on “Buy” at the top you can then shop based on categories (tons of wedding categories!), gift guides, etc. Super helpful!
