And They’re Off

February 17th, 2009 @ 6:41 pm by Mrs. Piglet

Fly fly away! We dropped our Save the Dates in the mail today. It’s quite a feeling of accomplishment to finish a craft project. I’ve been known to have problems following through on projects of this nature, but nevertheless, we done yo! I feel like I’ve beaten a dead horse as far as sharing our experience, but I have to close the loop and show you the finished product!

And here they are…

And They’re Off : wedding diy oahu save the dates Std1 std1

As you may recall, we had issues burning the screen, which eventually led to our demise.

Ultimately, we ended up printing the tickets on my Canon Pixma inkjet printer with fine results (aside from our bruised egos). Mr P used the ancient paper cutter to cut out each ticket, and rounded each corner with the (aptly named) rounded corner punch. My sister and I cut the butt cracks on the left hand side of the ticket the old fashioned way using a pair of scissors.

We Goccoed the hibiscus on the front of the boarding pass.

And They’re Off : wedding diy oahu save the dates Ticketh ticketholder_template1

We didn’t print templates for the ticket holder. Instead, Mr P used the tick marks on the paper cutter to measure where to score the creases, and cut the diagonal line. We used double sided tape to create the pocket on the ticket holder… and voila… easy as pie.

Oh, I almost forgot! They’re magnets. These ghetto fabulous magnets were created by yours truly. We took business card sized magnets, and cut them into quarter inch strips.

And They’re Off : wedding diy oahu save the dates Std4 std4

And last but not least, the envelopes!

And They’re Off : wedding diy oahu save the dates Std5 std5

Blurry shmurry. We Goccoed the return address, and addressed each envelope by hand. I exercised my power of veto and took over the addressing of the envelopes. Mind you, I am fully aware that the writing does not qualify as calligraphy, but rather, writing using a calligraphy pen. But I love them! :D

That’s all folks! All in all, tons of fun.

To me your hand addressing TOTALLY qualifies as calligraphy. Gorgeous, I wish I had such nice handwriting skills!

These look AMAZING! We had the idea of doing boarding passes for save the dates too (our wedding is in Southern California, and 99% of guests — including us! — will be coming from somewhere else, most of them from overseas), but I doubt we could EVER have made them as fantastic as these. Absolutely love them. And I’m inspired by your handwriting: I’m hand-addressing mine tonight and am getting super nervous about doing them all so neatly!
