Just Call Me Miss Trendy

February 17th, 2009 @ 3:08 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

I’ve found myself yet again getting sucked into wedding trends. First it was the candy buffet. Then, wearing two veils (a veil and a hair flower, in my case). Now, I have fallen for the signature drinks trend.

While signature drinks are trendy, they are also very budget friendly and user friendly. Instead of stocking a whole bar, we will only have to provide the ingredients for the signature drinks, along with wine, beer, and soda. Additionally, the bartender will only have to make a few types of drinks, and the guests will hopefully have an easier time choosing a drink.

Mr. Spring Roll and I have decided to offer three signature drinks: the perfect pear, the blushing bride, and… well, we are still deciding on a third choice.

The Perfect Pear- Absolut Pears, lemon-lime soda, and lime juice

Source

The Blushing Bride- Vodka, peach schnapps, and cranberry juice

Whatt ideas do you have for our third signature drink?  What were/will be the signature drinks at your wedding?

Mmm.. they sound delicious, especially the perfect pear. I am a huge fan of lychee martini, which Mrs. Gingerbread served at her wedding.

Yum - We are having signature drinks; one of my bridesmaids is designing them. I can’t wait to sample them! Oooo, a champagne coctail would be a good addition! Champagne + tiny bit of chambord + either pineapple or pomegranate juice = delicious. Seriously.

I agree with LzzNYC about a “grooms” drink.
You have the pair, the bride and I think something that is a favorite of Mr. Spring Roll as a third would be very fitting.
Maybe something that is non-vodka to keep variety? Or, if you want to continue being thrifty, try to keep the vodka constant and then buy larger bottles of the same type of liquor.

Can’t wait to see what the third ends up being!

We had the something blue-tini (the name was Mr. Cupcake’s idea!!! I was so proud that he came up with that). It was a hit and went with our colors! I’ll look up the recipe if you’re interested….

We wanted to do the perfect pear but it goes with NOTHING for our theme — plus we are having a full bar anyway, i feel like it might complicate things.

Maybe you could do a more personal one, naming it after the place you met or something similar.

@Mrs. Cupcake: Cute! And props to the mister. ;-)

I’m with HeatherB618. Can you think of a moment, memory, location, etc. that personalizes the last signature cocktail to you and Mr. Spring Roll?

I don’t see signature drinks as a way to save money really. We will just be having one keg of beer (for cocktail hour) and 24 bottles of wine (to be served at dinner). Everything else will be cash bar. Now that’s saving money!

While signature drinks are super cute, I really couldn’t afford them.

Mrs. Cupcake if you could please, that would be great!

Um, I’m totally stealing your idea for the Perfect Pear!! My “bar drink” that I order when we go out is a Vodka-7 (Vodka & 7-Up or Sprite), but the Pear Vodka is definitely making my mouth water!!

We didn’t intend to have Raspberry Mojitos as our signature drink but West Coast Groom’s Mum was over the border and accidentally bought us a giant bottle of white rum instead of a giant bottle of vodka for our bar. It won’t be the only hard alcohol available, but it will be the only cocktail suggested on the bar menu. No cheesy name for it yet, but we have time to think of one!

Thanks for the Blushing Bride recipe! I have been looking for a yummy pink cocktail (other than a cosmo), and it has been difficult to fine one! I can only do a signature cocktail if the ingredients are stocked by our bar, otherwise it is an extra charge. Your Blushing Bride seems to have simple ingredients, and hopefully the cranberry/vodka/peach schnapps combo makes a pink color.

I agree with the other bees about finding a drink that suits your groom - that would round off your drink menu perfectly!

Miss Spring Roll,
what about going with a signature drink that matches the colors of your wedding? The fiance and I are doing that (which is perfect since we can make our favs!)

I think having a grooms drink would be great also! And Mrs Cupcake, I would love it if you provided the recipe for the something blue-tini. We’re thinking of doing signature drinks and blue is one of our colors also!

I’m going to have to second Miss Snappy’s champagne suggestion!! It’s delicious, and you can name it whatever you want! (Maybe something cute like “The Bachelor Party?”

I love signature drinks! I don’t think our resort would quite grasp this concept, so we won’t be doing it. I also like the idea of some sort of a groom-y drink…hmm…what is his favorite drink? Could you use that or modify it to be a crowd-pleaser?

you can’t go wrong with mojitos! you can also put your spin on them easily if you feel it’s needed

That’s an awesome idea! I’d suggest a more “manly” drink…what exactly that is BEATS me…could you use rum and coke and make some fancy name with it? Or something with whisky that isn’t fruity? That will DEF make it a “groom’s drink”! Good luck!

I think we are doing signature drinks too. They are fun and effective way to have some mixed drinks without endless possibilities.

I think we’ll jump on the bandwagon and offer signature drinks at our rehearsal dinner. One, will be the Colonel, after Papa Piggy. :)

I echo some other bees sentiment. How about a more “manly drink” Those two are perfect but appeal more to the female attendees.

For instance my groom would like something more along the lines of the whiskey or bourbon. Like an Old Fashioned…and you could call it, “An Old Fashioned Love”

We’re having a blue drink we want to call the “Mad Hatter” for our Alice theme (on second thought, why would we call a blue drink that?) and because our primary color will be blue.. (On third thought, why don’t we have two or three signature drinks, too..) We’ll be mixing Malibu, blue curacao, and Sprite. Yum.. I think we’ll be having lots of taste tests leading up to the wedding!

since you’ll have the vodka on hand, i would suggest another vodka based drink. we did sparkling pomegranate juice, vodka and lime (we used rose’s lime juice). it was highly popular. even now my husband asks if i’ll pick up more of the pom juice. i used the trader joe’s one.

FI and I recently met with our venue coordinator and she asked us if we’re planning on having a signature drink. I wasn’t planning on having one by FI quickly piped in, “My signature drink is whiskey on the rocks”. She thought that was hilarious.

I like the champagne mix ideas for a drink. Or, is there a favorite drink that your Mr. likes that could be your third drink, perhaps something manly?

our wedding colors are blush pink and gold so we are using martha’s blushing bride and golden groom cocktails for our signature cocktails. maybe the golden groom would work for you as well? http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/good-things/a-couple-of-cocktails?autonomy_kw=golden%20groom&rsc=header_3

I loved the sig. drink idea, but it was actually more expensive than having an (mostly, ie limit) open bar at our venue! Maybe something with rum for the guy drink..
