About Mrs. Duckling

Do you have that one weakness when you go shopping? You know what I mean… the times that you can’t really afford anything, but you make an exception just to have the “must-have” item? Well, my weakness is shoes. I love shoes and have resorted to not going anywhere near a shoe department if I know I should not spend anything. Because when you have an addiction, you will sacrifice, justify, and find a way to satisfy the craving.

So, should it surprise you that I can’t wait to find the shoes that I will wear on my wedding day? Maybe I’ll be a 1 dress, 4 shoe bride and change them throughout the wedding. Just kidding… I won’t do that. But I really do want to find some fun shoes to wear under my dress. I don’t want plain white ones because I want to find something I can wear again and have just that pop of color and personality on the wedding day.

Just look at the cute pictures you can get…

And yes, along with my shoes I plan on finding Mr. Ducky some awesome socks to wear. I want my bridesmaids to have fun shoes, too. I think I’ll give them a few colors from our palette and let them go choose whatever they want. Wouldn’t that be a fun picture with everyone’s shoes?

Before even having a dress I was already noticing shoes that could be just “perfect”. Here is what I am currently drooling over…

Maybe I should find some perfect shoes for our engagement photos. That means I will be able to wear them sooner! (See what I mean? I have a problem and I’ll find every excuse to get new shoes!)

What is your weakness when you go shopping? Are you looking for your wedding shoes too? What are some great sites for shoe inspiration?

Swoon! I love J.Crew’s shoes. I’m about to start my wedding shoe search, so I’m totally going to appreciate any suggestions other readers throw out there!

OH MA GAWD I love this post. I share your addiction, we should never be allowed to shop together. I love the yellow pair at the bottom. I’ve been entertaining the idea of making feathered shoe clips. le sigh

Shoes were actually the ONE thing that I have not obsessed over for my wedding! My mom and I were at a bridal salon looking at bridesmaids dresses, and a local shoe designer was having a trunk show. I tried on a pair of shoes “just because” and they were super comfortable. They are 3.5″ (I need the height!), but they are molded after ballroom dancing shoes, so they are really comfortable. The inside sole is suede, which is soooo soft. And they are beautiful! And dyeable! And did I mention they have a strap around the ankle, which I absolutely need, because I my heels are narrow so I can’t wear the normal “peep” toe heels. So all in all, I stumbled upon the perfect pair of wedding shoes.

Of course, I am the type that has to *ponder* every decision. So my mom and I left the store to look at other bridesmaids dresses (our true goal for the day) and decided to come back later. After going to a few other stores, and casually looking at their shoe selection (and seeing nothing that compared), I decided to go back to the store and just buy those shoes. After all, even though I hadn’t started my *shoe search* these were great shoes. I decided to just get them, and not worry about an in depth *shoe search.* I love shoes, but I was happy to have them checked off my list, without much fanfare. Because it was a trunk shoe, I got 20% off and she dyed my shoes for free to match my dress!

I pulled out my shoes over the weekend and I still love them!

I love the idea of the groom’s socks matching your shoes! I wish I’d thought of that for my wedding; a white tux with bright blue socks would have been spectacular.

Those Betsy Johnson heels are especially drool-worthy!

I have a complete obsession with shoes and even worse, an obsession with Christian Louboutin shoes. Even worse, I didn’t exactly have $1,000 to drop on a pair of shoes for my wedding - I was lucky enough to find a pair of Nine West shoes that closely resembled my coveted ‘Loubs at a fraction of the price - it took a lot of searching though! Good luck! I love your taste in shoes so I’m sure what you end up wearing will be fabulous!

Haha, I’m already a 3 shoe bride. I have pink shoes with a big tulle pouf on the top for the ceremony, but I’ll change after that because they’re not very comfortable…and I’ll probably have a pair of flats for when my 2nd pair of heels becomes uncomfortable. I know, I’m insane!

Shoes are my vice. I have extra pairs in my trunk. I bought a pair of Twyla from JCrew for my May wedding, but I also fell in love with a pair of blush “Carmen,” but they’re all sold out. I’m loving the Kate Spades, though. I might have to check them out.

While not a site, I love checking discount stores like Ross for sweet finds. I bought the exact yellow shoes Chelsea has in the first picture there for $15!

Guilty as charged! Just yesterday I bought the cutest pair of coyboy boots from ALDO, more money than I have right now to spend on something so silly. But I totally justified it with “they will look cute in the summer and the winter, they will totally go with everything!” Not to mention the sales girl said they sell out super fast and there was only 1 in my size left. I’m feeling a little bit of buyers regret but Im sure that will go away as soon as I put them on.

We got custom-made shoes from Celebrity Dance Shoes…even though my style was called “Minnie” and his was called “Mickey.” We just don’t tell people about the model names much.

I’m a yellow-shoe bride (endless.com)… but I might go get white ones instead. I’m having a harder time finding bridesmaid shoes. I think I probably just need to tell them to wear whatever they want, but I’m sorta obsessing over random things like shoes and socks. My groom and his men are wearing yellow argyle socks. If I can find them in kid sizes, the 6 ringbearers (what can I say, I love all my nephews) will get some too. :)

The shoe pics are great. We took some during engagements (you can see my fav on my barely-ever-updated blog!) and I want a big print to hang in our bedroom.
