A Modern Photo Booth

February 18th, 2009 @ 4:27 pm by Mrs. Apple Cider

I love love love the idea of a wedding photobooth, but not necessarily the traditional type of booth. I have seen some great photos from my favorite photogs of the bride and groom and their guests in front of a gorgeous sheet.

Capturing your guests in a unique way is a must for our wedding. While I know I will love looking back at all of the pictures of Mr. AC and me, I also know seeing our guests having fun will be a real treasure.

Here is an example of a modern photobooth:

Currently I am loving these sheets from Urban Outfitters. I am thinking of buying one for our “modern photobooth”.

What are some unique ideas for jazzing up a photobooth?

What about cool fabrics from different cultures? Like sari fabric! I have no idea if that’s expensive…but it’s certainly pretty and colourful.

Also, Meg at 2000dollarwedding.com did a post with a link to a tutorial to make your own photobooth today: http://2000dollarwedding.com/2009/02/diy-how-to-make-photo-booth.html

I was at World Market the otherday looking at their tab top panel curtains…and thought they would be great for a backdrop of some sort. They are gorgeous and you just want to touch them! and very affordable!

Crazy-patterned bedding would look great — and be reusable after the wedding!

You should have some pillows as props in case guests, inspired by the backdrop, want to have on-camera pillow fights! ;-)

So cute! I actually love the wide angles where you can see the sheet being hung up.. I think have multiple backgrounds would be a super fun touch!

I’ve been thinking that I would love to do a modern photo booth as well. I just love that look. Those sheets from urban would be perfect!

Such a cool idea! I’ve toyed with it myself. I’m focused on the props too… moustaches, big sunglasses, a few empty, ornate frames, etc.

Thanks for the UO tapestry/sheet idea!

I am in love with the last print and think this is such a great idea! I have my heart set on photo booths for our wedding - but we are also on a tight budget. I think this would be a good compromise :)

I love photographer Joe Mikos’ take on the photobooth. He owns a fabulous vintage couch that he takes with him to weddings, and people pose on it for pictures. I have so much fun looking through the photos on his site:

This couple had a pretty rockin’ fabric-photobooth.

I have seen many more photos of this wedding in other places too, but I can’t remember where…

How great that you started this! I have been saving pictures as well for my own. We are doing this as our guestbook actually. Our guests are signing little scrapbook TAGS and getting their picture snapped in front of a backdrop which I will arrange in scrapbook from later on. Here are a few inspirations I have saved as well….

I have been going back and forth if we should have a plain white sheet or something more colorful like you have pictured here. Since I already got a bunch of accessories (colorful feature boas, hats, lucha libre masks, etc.) I think we will probably go with a plain background.

I love that last sheet! The idea of a photobooth definitely interests me, though I’m having trouble getting the FH on board! I think a book with fun questions for the guests to answer and then a place to attach their photobooth pic would be the best keepsake EVER.

Great idea! I really want a photobooth but Mr. S thinks it’s a waste of money. This would be a definite compromise. Thanks!

I have been slowly collecting props….but havent found my backdrop yet, the UO ones are adorable! Right after mardi gras might be a good time to get masks for cheap…and i found a cheap place for fake mustaches: (love the names)

These modern photobooths always seem to be such a hit! This is def on my list of things to do. I think I’m gonna add props like balloons and sparklers, and maybe even confetti to throw in the snapshot. That always looks amazing on film.

One of our more unusual prop ideas was cartoon speech and thought bubbles with a dry erase surface, so they can be erased between guests. Details on how we are making them are here: http://sites.google.com/site/2dbride/photography/diy-photobooth
