A Romantic Ride

February 18th, 2009 @ 3:59 pm by Mrs. Duckling

Lately I have been seeing the sweetest wedding pictures and details using a bike. The effect is so whimsical, romantic and fun. The couple always looks like they are having so much fun and it brings you back to your childhood days. Don’t you just wish you could be carefree and ride your bike around for the day, stopping wherever you please?

Now I want to know… how do you ride a bike in a wedding dress??

The cute bike theme makes me think of other similarly-whimsical ideas that would be fun to incorporate into a wedding!

I have no idea! But we’re using these on our wedding day! So excited!!!

http://www.wheelfunrentals.com/Content/WhatWeRent.aspx The single surrey is cheesy wedding goodness. We may pile our siblings into the big one and shoot some shots too!!!

We’re considering something like this, since our theme is based on our initials… TandM = tandem. I love your inspiration pics!

Aaagh, I bike commute every day and I cringe at the thought of getting chain grease or other bike dirt on a wedding dress. That stuff is impossible to get out! And I’ve had more than one pair of jeans munched by my gears… I can’t imagine what they could do to a delicate fabric.

Nevertheless, I LOOOOOVE wedding bike photos!

The answer is, you don’t. These are all super staged, and that overshadows the cuteness for me:-(

That would take some serious talent. Definitely implossible for bigger dresses

I was just wondering the same thing!!! How on earth did these girls not get their dresses caught in the gears??? I would be terrified!!

I keep thinking the same thing. I wouldn’t want my precious Jim Hjelm getting caught in the chain or covered in grease! But I would love Mr PK and I to ride our (matching) beach cruisers into the reception!

Awww… this post was totally made for us! We are staying away from the bike theme for our wedding, but it is incorporated into our shower.

With my dress, there is no way I could ride a bike. Tight and long… not a good combo.

Very cute. We live so close to our venue, we joke that we could walk home trailing tin cans. ;)

I have been wanting to incorporate a bike into my wedding ever since I saw Kermit and Miss Piggy get married and ride off into the sunset on a bike. So effing cute!

ok I did this for my beach wedding bc our hotel was 1 block away and I thought it would make for a cool getaway. Tandem beach cruiser I rented for $20. It was afordable, perfectly cute and fun, but yes not easily done even in my simple sheath gown. Side saddle and hold your dress and thank god my ex didn’t drink that much and got us there in one piece!

Nice work collecting those photos! Forget the wedding dress, how do you ride a bike, PERIOD. I can’t last for more than 10 minutes before whining that it hurts my butt.

i’m too much of a klutz to maneuver that bike around in any sort of dress. the skirt is bound to rip off altogether! but you’re right, the photos are priceless!

if you’re by the beach a surrey bike could be easier to ride in when wearing your wedding dress. they are really fun to ride and have more room to sit :)

I love these photos too. It’s too bad that Mr. HC and I have the coordination of a pack of drunken monkeys.

We have a tandem bike and will be riding it away for our getaway (and no, it won’t be staged). Our tandem is a cruiser style and the frame is very low in the back seat, so it is easy to get on. My dress is neither tight nor poofy, so it isn’t hard to hold. I’ll just hold the dress off to the side with one hand and the handlebars with the other. I trust my hubbie not to crash. It helps that my dress isn’t expensive and I don’t plan to keep it, so even if I do stain it it won’t be the end of the world (we’ll be on grass during the cocktail hour which will probably be worse). I can’t wait, this is one of my favorite details for our wedding!
