About Mrs. Stiletto

Spotted On Etsy

February 18th, 2009 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Stiletto

I’ve started pondering what purse I might get for “the day”. Part of me feels like it will be a little pointless. I mean, how much will I really be carrying it? And what could I possibly need that I couldn’t just have my MOH (and big sis!) carry for me?

A lot of the clutches I look at look, well, bride-y. It’s the same quandary I found myself in when I was looking at shoes—I feel like if I’m going to make the investment, I should at least be able to use/wear/enjoy the items again if at all possible (I’m sure as the day approaches I’ll be fighting tooth and nail for a reason to wear my dress again).

I love this Harry Levine clutch (circa 1950s/60s) from 20th Century Finds on Etsy:

I bought this for a mere $16.00 (yes, you heard me!). This clutch lends a little bit of sparkle and a whole lot of sophistication. It’s a perfect addition to any black and white wedding.

Look at the detail:

20th Century Finds has a lot of different clutches and other vintage accessories, all at different price points. I love this white and cream clutch for $60. It has such sweet details:

That’s one more thing knocked off of my list, a million and one to go.

Are you carrying a purse or clutch on your wedding day? Do you think one is necessary or useful?

Ooo, yes. I’m definitely going to have to find a bag — I love the idea of having something that sentimentally connects me back to my wedding day!

That is such a beautiful clutch, and it’s so affordable. You keep reminding me how useful of a resource etsy is, and I’m very thankful for that.

Wow, what a great find! I still haven’t found a bag for the wedding day–I know I want one. I love handbags in general and I think it will be a good place to stash some kleenex and lip gloss (my other love!)

I’m really torn about whether to get a wedding clutch or not. Since the budget is pretty tight - if I do it’ll have to be very inexpensive - I’m going to keep my eyes open for one for sure though!

@SanDiegoAli:
I defintely wouldn’t have made the investment otherwise…but I was casually looking around on Etsy, spotted this for $16 and since it’s black, can totally use it again! I love that Etsy has vintage items as well.

@Yin:
Etsy is my everything in planning :) Last night I found the sweetest pair of vintage platinum rimmed champagne glasses for $10!! Woo hoo. To be posted at a later date as I customize them for Mr. Stiletto & I. There’s no end to what you can find!

I will definitely be carrying a purse - I am a diabetic and need to have my meter and insulin with me! That purse is a great find! I am planning to look through the eveng bags that my grandmothers left to me - surely there is something in that collection that can have a brooch or ribbon added to match for the day! :)

How sentimental and special! Great idea. I’ll just pretend my vintage bag has family meaning ;)

I’ve been thinking of a clutch, but I don’t know how much I’d need it. There are some gorgeous ones out there, though!

I LOVE, LOVE that clutch. I am also having a black and white wedding. I found a beautiful little purse at Sworovski in black as well!

I agree with your initial thoughts about the clutch. As much as I have enjoyed looking at other bees’ clutches, I have wondered if I would actually need one on the big day. I really like your idea about re-using it. I always need a chic purse/clutch when we go out at night! So I think I will check out etsy and some less-bridal looking options. Thanks for the post!

I just worry I’m going to forget the purse somewhere, but I love looking at all the fun options. I do think that it might be a good idea to have some options though. Both of those clutches look great and like you could reuse them again and again at other non-bride functions.

Fish out of water - that’s me without a purse so I must have one on the wedding day. My FMIL surprised me with a deep purple clutch that’s perfect.

Love these clutches, I’m thinking they would make an awesome MOH gift.
