Adorable Centerpiece Idea

February 19th, 2009 @ 11:29 am by Mrs. Apple Cider

If we weren’t having such a rustic wedding then I would 100% use this idea in our wedding and/or purchase these great candles from Etsy’s Something Beautiful.

I think this one would even be suitable for a rustic wedding… your thoughts?! :)

This one is more on the dainty side, but just imagine it at a garden wedding… oh my, the possibilities.

You can buy them at the “something beautiful” Etsy shop here.

Oooh, I heart these! Sometimes I wish I was having a “girlier” wedding, but alas, I’ve worked to steer things so that Mr. S will like ‘em too!

These would be great for a shower, too.

those are lovely! They would have worked perfectly at Peonies & Polaroid’s wedding (scottish garden, tea party kind of relaxed gorgeous affair)

@Miss Stiletto: I agree! A shower was the first place I thought of for using these cuties!

I went to a shower where these served as the centerpieces and the favor. The bride and bridesmaids made them, and they were super cute!

Combining two of my favorite favors at weddings! Tea cups and candles!! LOVE IT!

I love this idea! I made some candles like this for my sisters for Christmas, but I used martini glasses. It was a really simple project, using microwavable soy wax (which is cheaper and easier to use than regular wax) and pre-waxed wicks, and they stood up to travel really well!

I was considering reusing the idea for centerpieces, too, but using colorful glass coffee mugs. I might downsize just to using tea lights inside the mugs, though, because of time restraints - but I love the idea of unusual candleholders for centerpieces!

Oh I love those! I’ve been thinking of using blue and white china in the centerpieces and making them into candles may be perfect! Thanks!!

How adorable - my family are all tea drinkers so they would love those. They would perfect for a shower with a tea-party theme.

I’ve totally made these before! Only I did it the hard way - with real beeswax, melted over the stove. I wish I had known about the microwavable soy wax!

We’re using teacups for our centerpieces, but floating candles in them so they don’t get ruined by the wax. Much easier clean-up / re-use.

Well, I guess they wouldn’t get ruined, but wouldn’t it be a b*tch to get all the wax out if you had one like in the pictures?

Like Jo, I’ve made these before using the microwavable soy wax (easily found at places like Michaels). Michaels also sells blocks of color that can melt with the wax (or I’ve heard you can use crayon shavings), and I already had some essential oil scents on hand. They turned out great and were VERY easy! Unfortunately I gave them as gifts so can’t say how the actual burning went, but the finished product looked good anyway.
