Numbering the Tables

February 19th, 2009 @ 8:33 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

I am super excited for this post. First of all, this is only my second successful DIY project, and let me just say, I loved how it all turned out. Now that I have that out of my system, onwards to table numbering.

I took my inspiration from, where else, but Weddingbee. I like to think that they are a cross between Mrs. Tiramisu’s, Mrs. Canary’s and Miss Lemonade’s table numbers.

Specifically, I wanted to use our engagement pictures, so I went to Michaels and bought 8 of their cheapest frames (two of which are a different style, but I’m okay with that).

I was really looking for some large brown number stickers, but I couldn’t find any. So I did the next best thing—I bought the best number stickers I could find, a little bottle of brown paint, and a small paint brush:

I then painted the numbers that I wanted to use. And thankfully, the paint I bought worked perfectly. Sorry for the blurry picture, but I wanted to give you an action shot. I think this is the number 2:

I then disassembled the frames and took them out back to spray paint them with some leftover green spray paint. I highly suggest that if you are going to do this, spray paint the back of the frame first. It just makes it easier! Let the back completely dry and then flip it over and do it again.

Once the numbers and the frames were dry, and after I had cleaned the glass on the frames, I put the stickers on the frames and added eight of our best engagement pictures. And ta da! Here they are. (Sorry for the flash on all these pics.)

One through four:

And five through eight:

Here’s an up close look at five:

Total cost: under $30 bucks. $2.99 per frame, and around $5 for the numbers and paint.

What do you think? I have to toot my own horn. I love them! What DIY project have you done that you are really proud of?

Hey Miss PeepT! Maybe I’m a bit aloof, but I just noticed now that your FH is an olive oil maker? That’s awesome! Do you guys get to go on olive oil “tastings” like wine tastings??? :)

Those are awesome! Thanks for the tutorial, I really love the personalization of table numbers. My FMIL bought me some plain round paper numbers but I might use this idea instead.

So cute, good job! I’m dying to do our table card DIY project, but I just can’t do table stuff without waiting for our RSVP deadline to pass. I know you’re getting married in May just like me–do you already have a close enough head count to know for sure that that’s how many tables you’re going to have??

Ooo great idea =)

Since we are getting married in Newport Beach, CA and we are total beach people we are doing beaches we have been to rather then numbers. But that same idea would be great. A picture of us at that place (since we take a picture everywhere we go) and then putting the name of that beach on there instead of a number.

Great idea! Thanks!

@Amanda: I think it’s an oil based model paint. It was the cheapest I could find, and I am so glad it worked!
