That Wedding: Seattle Skyline Finale

February 20th, 2009 @ 2:46 pm by Mrs. Avocado

I don’t write stories very often, but whenever I do I have a hard time coming up with an ending. My endings always end up sounding trite, or abrupt. I often put the story off to the side and end up forgetting about it because I can’t find a way to write in the perfect ending. Telling the story of our wedding day is the one instance where I’m not left feeling this way.

The original plan was to drive with our photographer out to a park with the Seattle skyline in the background, and have one last photo shoot for the day. But by the end of dinner I was so tired. All I wanted was to be done with the day, and I told Kelli that we weren’t going to go to the park and that after the exit she was done shooting.

I assumed Mr. Avocado was feeling the same way I was, but when I told him about my decision, he did one of the most thoughtful things he has ever done for me. He reminded me how much I loved the inspirational photos I had found, the shots that gave me the idea to do the skyline shoot. He put aside his own exhaustion and encouraged me to go through with the shoot. We only went up to the park for about 20 minutes, but the photographs we have are just stunning. We look tired, and our facial expressions in most of them aren’t the best, but they so perfectly sum up the wedding for us. A classic storybook ending if I’ve ever seen one.

I’m very excited to have this hanging on our wall sometime soon!

I’m so happy we took a second to grab a shot with our photographer and friend, Kelli Nicole. She was such a huge part of our wedding day, it would be so sad to have her left out of the story completely.

This is the very last photo taken on our wedding day. It says “Done done done! Off to the honeymoon suite!”

The End (of the wedding day). We gave ourselves a whole week to relax and recover before our hometown reception the next weekend. Best. Honeymoon. Ever.

The lighting in the nighttime shots is amazing! I definitely am dragging Mr. MagPie out of the reception for some “walking in the city” shots. :-) Do you think anyone’ll miss us for five to ten minutes?

I want to figure out a way to do something like this. Oh my goodness. The more I think about it, the more I want to do a photoshoot in Seattle. It is afterall where we fell in love, even though we’re getting married in San Diego. Hmm. Trash the dress perhaps?

Where is this park? At first I thought is was Gas Works Park… but the Space Needle looks too close.

@shaver2bee: It’s actually up on Queen Anne. Doesn’t the Space Needle look like it is right next to us?

Great way to finish off the wedding day. Can I assume there’s still a few more recaps for the hometown reception? I don’t want to hear it’s over quite yet!

Especially all the suitcase pics in the woods - SO STUNNING! I’m so glad you held off your tiredness an extra half hour to get the amazing skyline pics!

@shaver2bee: I think it’s Kerry Park on Queen Anne? I had pictures taken there for prom and it has some interesting sculptures you can work with too if you have a bit more time. I love how its one of the few places in the city where the needle actually looks big compared to other buildings.

Mrs. Avocado, these are stunning. I may have to work this into some of our wedding pictures too.

I think it’s funny how the photo you put before the cut, and the one that you want to hang on your wall, doesn’t show your husband’s face at all, only his back, but shows you. It says a lot about you as a person, and probably a lot about how your marriage is going to go.

@Ashley: Ashley, I didn’t even know bees could be so rude. I guess bees are more feisty than I thought. I’m breaking a lot of personal rules by commenting on Wedding Bee, but I just felt I couldn’t leave you hanging.

Ashley, if you read negative messages into unrelated areas of your life, let me tell you sister, your relationships are going to be a rocky road. Luckily though, I can give you some pointers, which can extend your relationships by years or even decades. Here they are, and you can thank me later:

1. If someone likes a picture with only your profile, it doesn’t mean they like you only halfway
2. If someone likes a picture you’re not in, it doesn’t mean they want you out of their life
3. If your boyfriend likes a picture with you turned back, he could just be enjoying the look of your butt
4. If someone tells you your new hairdo looks great, it doesn’t mean they hated the last one

…and the final one (if you forget them all just remember this one)…

5. If your boyfriend replies “No, this dress doesn’t make you look fat” he does NOT mean that all the other dresses do. Also, why are you asking him tricky questions to incriminate him? You know full well if that dress makes you look fat or not.

@Ashley: I think it’s extremely sad when you have to post such negative comments (and assumptions). I have found that most people who post negative comments are the ones who are most unhappy with their owns lives and take it out on others. So why don’t you stop wasting your time criticizing and fix your own problems?

@Mr. Avocado: I have followed Mrs. Avocado’s posts since the very beginning and was always struck by the adoration she obviously has for you. Now it’s easy to see why. You two are very lucky to have the other.
