Mrs. Champagne's Picture
Mrs. Champagne, DC/Vail/Colorado Age and Occupation: 26, Eye Doctor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Attorney Engagement Date: March 13, 2006 Wedding Date: February 2009 Blogging Since: July 30, 2008 Venue: Small church ceremony with mountain-view log cabin reception About Me: I'm a small town mountain girl with a city heart. Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…
About Mrs. Champagne

You know what I love about Weddingbee? So.much.inspiration. For our ceremony programs, I took some inspiration from (ok, more like completely copied) Mrs. Emerald’s ceremony programs. I just thought they were so unique, and I’ve always loved when pictures are added in programs.

So here’s our version of Mrs. Emerald’s wonderful programs:

As you can tell the ribbon frays a little, so I sent the programs to Vail and when I got here I trimmed each ribbon one last time. I’ve found that the best tool for cutting a clean line on ribbon is the Fiskar’s scissors with Spring Action- Seriously, these are awesome for crafts.

Ok, back to the programs. We used the same picture for the front cover as we used for the stamps for our Save the Dates. Using white vellum, I goccoed our names and wedding date and put the picture under it.

Getting the text to line up was a COMPLETE pain in the arse, but in the end it just came down to trial and error.

We will have two readings at our ceremony, and we chose two of our favorite Bible passages. Each of our Uncles will read one. Champ’s Uncle is also his God father, and my Uncle is the one responsible for my adoption. He found my birth mother and completely arranged my adoption, so it will be so special for him to be involved in our ceremony.

I Corinthians 13:1-7, 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.
For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.
Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?
And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.

If you’ve seen Mrs. Emerald’s programs, you’ll see that I shamelessly copied even her text and quote for the back of the program. I hang my head at my inability to be creative on my own, but I am so thankful for the inspiration that Weddingbee has provided!

So that’s it- that’s my last detail before I get hitched!

How will you personalize your ceremony?

Well now I will have to admit to copying both you and mrs. Emerald four our programs! I’ve started designing, this layout is just so perfect!

Where did you get your vellum by chance? I’m so worried about ordering and getting terrible quality!

Oh I just can’t wait to see your re-caps! Its all stunning so far!!

hahaha, I’m so glad to have been an inspiration! I know mine were probably a combination of multiple bee’s programs as well! They turned out gorgeous! And you are absolutely right about the whole “trial and error” thing. I can’t even recall how much paper I wasted trying to get the text to line up…

These are gorgeous! What did you use to round the corners? Also, did you use 2 layers of cardstock for the monogram on the front (white on top of gold)?
