Mrs. Dumpling's Picture
Mrs. Dumpling, Las Vegas Age and Occupation: 27, Finance Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Real Estate Engagement Date: March, 2008 Wedding Date: March, 2009 Blogging Since: August 26, 2008 Venue: Catholic church ceremony & golf course reception About Me: I grew up in the Deep South, and while most people say I have a thick southern accent, I tend to think it only comes out when I need to use it. Living in Las Vegas has definitely been an adventure and Mr. Dumpling and I are loving every minute of it! We are planning a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony and a reception with lots of DIY! We might even get Elvis to show up! I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, love The Office and can't wait to become a Mrs.!
About Mrs. Dumpling

We have tons of things we still need to get done, and we have less than a month to go. Anyone else procrastinate like that? Am I worried though? No, not really. I usually do my best work at the last minute. Last weekend, however, I did manage to get one wedding-related task done. We now have flower girl dresses. I looked for a while and was finding them as cheap as $50, but then we added another flower girl and I just didn’t want to spend $100 of our budget on a dress that will no doubt end up dirty or ripped by the end of the night.

Here’s what I found on a random trip to Target:

It was $17.99! It’s pale pink with smocking on top with ballerina tulle on the bottom. SO CUTE!

I’m pretty sure its an Easter dress, but it works! The BM’s will be wearing chocolate brown, I am wearing Ivory and Mr. D and the guys are wearing tan suits. I think the light pink will contrast nicely! Yay for cheap stuff!

What’s the best deal you’ve gotten so far on something for your wedding?

At that price, it’s a cute dress the flower girl could wear/play/dress up with after the wedding as well!

We got our flower girl dress on sale from Baby Gap for about $22 and we thought we got an awesome deal…you even beat us! I saw such cute stuff at Target for Easter that could easily be used for flower girl dresses and so much cheaper than what you see in bridal salons.

I LOVE that dress! I had been trying to find something low priced since my both of my brother’s daugters are going to be flower girls and they offered to pay for the dresses. I just happened to randomly check target.com to see what they had. I couldn’t believe the price. I emailed a pic to my SIL right away. Even though our wedding isn’t until September, and we can probably get them on sale in a few months, I didn’t want to miss out on their sizes. My SIL just ordered them last week. Going to visit today and I’m going to see them in person. She’s sent me pictures but I can’t wait to see them on the girls. What a bargain!

Most of our wedding was bargain shopped for because we had a low budget paid for it ourselves. I will say that I got both my wedding and reception dress for under $200 on eBay. Our photographer cost only $500 which was a great discount from his normal cost of $1200 for the package we got. Our ceremony venue was free, it was a park. Almost everything else was from ebay, hobby lobby or some other bargain place I found. It was my goal to create our wedding using as little money as possible and I feel like I succeeded.

What a great find!! We also found a similar deal on our flower girl dresses, which were holiday dresses on clearance at Macy’s…I’ve found that anything titled “flower girl” is always overpriced!! So thinking outside the box always saves some dough. =)

Vistaprint has also been a cheap resource for save-the-dates, stationery, OOT bag items, etc!

Your wedding colors sound just like mine, except I didn’t find a super cute pink flower girl dress like you did. It’s not because I didn’t try to find one though! I ended up finding an ivory dress for our flower girl, but I too wore ivory, the BM’s wore brown, and the guys wore tan :)

We did the exact same thing for our flower girls, although they wore light yellow dresses. As for flower girl baskets I recommend getting easter baskets from micheals. They were super cheap and perfect for us!

Such a cute dress! I got my wedding dress for $100- a shop near me had roof damage after Hurricane Ike and sold about 250 dresses to a salvage company. The company couldn’t sell them all to a wholesaler, so last weekend they sold the dresses to the public for $100 each! Considering I had budgeted at least $1000, I am thrilled and already wondering where I want to put the extra $900 :)

Target is so awesome! That dress is SUPER cute. The best deal we got has to be the venue, we’re not paying for the room rental and ceremony - saved $1,200!!! Because it’s at a golf club and my FH works with someone that’s a member and he agreed to “sponsor” us. We are so lucky! :D
