About Mrs. Kitten

Moooooooooo!

February 23rd, 2009 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Kitten

One of the dangerous things about Weddingbee is that you can become TOO INSPIRED by all the wonderful wedding goodness you read about on the site. The possibilities for making your wedding personal and customized are endless! And if you are short on time, it can be difficult to squeeze in all of the things you want to do before the wedding.

After outlining the terrifying to-do-list of tasks I need to complete before the wedding, I realized there were a few things I left off! Moo cards are one of those things! I have been coveting Moo cards for a while now. A long line of Bees have used them for various purposes. For those of you who don’t know, Moo prints business cards, post cards, stickers, and other products. The cool part is that you get to print multiple images or text in a set of cards. For example, if you order 100 cards, you can have a different design on each one! Plus, the cards are printed on both sides, increasing your design options even more! Miss Hot Cocoa recently blogged about her Moo cards, featuring her engagement pictures!

I have yet to order my Moo cards (of course!) but I have a few ideas about how I will use these lovely little multi-taskers:

Photo Website Reminders: We are going to print cards asking guests to upload their photos from the wedding weekend to our Flickr site. I am getting an upgraded Flickr account to accommodate everyone’s photos. Here are some cute examples of cards (not necessarily Moo cards though) reminding guests about the photo website:

Cocktail Hour Quiz Cards: I first saw this idea on Flickr. We are going to create fun trivia cards to entertain our guests during cocktail hour. They will be placed on cocktail tables and along the bar, and hopefully they will break the ice and get people talking! You can view a great example of these cards here and here. Here are a few sample questions we have thought of:

*Where did Mr. K and Miss. K meet?*
a) At the gym
b) Through a mutual friend
c) In class
d) On the internet

*How long have Mr. K and Miss. K been engaged?*
a) 6 months
b) 18 months
c) 24 months
d) 30 months

*When Mr. K visited Miss K in Spain, his favorite Spanish word was:*
a) Dentista!
b) Ordenador!
c) Mantequilla!
d) Cerveza!

The Kittens in Spain circa 2005. Just in case it wasn’t obvious enough that we were tourists, Mr. K brought our Lonely Planet “Spain” book everywhere we went.

We are still thinking up questions for the cards (something else to tack on to the monster to-do-list!). What sorts of questions would you ask your guests?

We ordered moo cards to include hotel information and the information about a golf tournament we’re hosting to include in the invitations. But apparently they are also very tasty - our dog chewed throught the box to get at the few cards we had leftover :(

That’s such a cute idea for Moo cards! Hehe, it’d be funny if it got really quiet for awhile as people read the cards…but I’m sure they’ll be chatting it up in no time!

What do 100 moo cards with color photos on them typically run? Anyone know? :-) Thanks!

Do you have a wedding website? Most people put the quizzes on the website and since you can only do so many different moo designs, you will have a limited amount of questions. After a while it will get boring. Maybe you can use them for a scavenger hunt- either finding guests who fit certain descriptions or finding items throughout the ceremony/reception- first one done wins something special. Just a thought! I love moo cards too though so I can see why you want to use them.

$20 for the mini cards (which are smaller than business cards). For business cards it is $22 for 50.

After the wedding, I had mini moo cards made to put in with our thank you notes. I put a variety of pictures of my husband and I (from the wedding) on the front, and wrote a “thanks for traveling” message on the back. I put them inside each thank you card, along with a business card with our wedding photo website! They were a hit!

I love this idea! Moo cards are fantastic, and we might just be ordering some for BOTH of the purposes you mentioned!

We had a trivia quiz on our website, and had questions like “where did N grow up?” “what recipe did G woo S with, then fail to cook for two years?” “what local restaurant do they frequent?” and because we were already living together, “who does the laundry?”

Love the idea of questions on MOO cards! I may “borrow” that from you — and hey, does that count as my “something borrowed?”

How about…

Which country have the kittens NOT visited?
What TV show do both kittens love?
What was the first movie the kittens saw together?
How long does it take Ms. Kitten to get ready?
How many pairs of shoes does Mr. Kitten have?
What is a term of endearment Mr. Kitten calls Ms. Kitten?

What great ideas!! I love these things!

I would ask:
Something specific about your vows
Something specific about your ceremony
Give your wedding colors really crazy names then ask:
What are the kittens wedding colors?
a) Microsoft Windows background blue
b) August sky blue
c) Miss Kitten’s eyes blue
d) Fun bubble bath toy blue

Something cute where there is no real answer

Love the flickr idea, I’m curious, how are you going to know who uploaded what if everyone uses the same email and password? Who else did you consider? SeeYouThen.com or anybody else?
Are you doing a photobooth?

I love these ideas, esp. the photo-card idea! It’d also look so charming to have the moo card tied to a ribbon or raffia as a napkin ring. The only thing with the Moo cards that I found slightly annoying was that even though you can put a different photo on every card, you have to use the same text. So you can only have one message, unless you are going to order multiple decks.

it’s so cool how you’re using the moo cards. i’d ask guests about our favorite tv shows, favorite drinks, where we met, what our college majors were…

I’m so excited about the flickr cards! I just put together one for our wedding in July and created the flickr account.

I’m wondering how smoothly it’s all going to work out. If people order prints it looks like they can enter different mailing addresses (or pick the prints up at Target! So awesome!) so that shouldn’t be a problem. I’m hoping people add their photos to a set so that we can see who uploaded what. I’m still figuring out how to add that suggestion on the cards!

If you make it back here to read comments: What made you want to upgrade your account? Do you get more storage space that way?

@sarah_hj: Yes, more storage space! And we got over 1,000 pictures so I’m sure we would have maxed out a regular account!
