Mrs. D'orsay, Baltimore/Lancaster UK Age and Occupation: 24, Stay at home fiance (formerly in nonprofit communications) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Web site developer and designer; co-owner of men's skincare shop Engagement Date: August 10, 2008 Wedding Date: August, 2009 Venue: Oakland Manor About Me: I'm a Maryland raised environmental policy wonk/activist/organizer and communications aficionado. In the past year I've lived in Baltimore, MD, Tucson, AZ, Miami, FL and Lancaster, England. In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!

Changing Our Colors…

February 24th, 2009 @ 1:30 pm by Mrs. D'orsay

(source of chameleons)

Although our invites are chocolate brown and ivory with a bit of dark purple, we’re switching it up. Someone commented on my theme post that our color scheme included gray. At the time of the post - gray actually wasn’t in the original color scheme! But, we’ve found that gray has been creeping in more and more and we’ve moved away from brown.

Without any further ado, I’d like to introduce our new color scheme:

Multiple grays ranging from soft to slate to charcoal, mixed with hints of lavender and splashes of aubergine, all paired with classic ivory. As much as I enjoy Colour Lovers, I adore Polyvore. So this is how the color palette looks in Polyvore.

Oh, and a random question for anyone who can help! I have a ColourLovers “patch” on my blog and every time I try to the blog, it freezes, and I think the patch is to blame! Any ideas on how to help me? :-(

@Josalyn: awesome! Great minds think alike ;)
@MagPie518: I used the links on the right under “About this pallet”, I chose “get this pallet image” at the 390×300 size and linked to it the same way I would as an external image link. I’m not sure if that helps or not…

I like your colors! We never officially locked down our color scheme, and it has changed a few times. Oops!

I really love the purple. Is that purple dress from Nordstroms? I think it’s the one I’ve been eyeing for a long time! :)

I love it! Our main color is lapis to match the color of our DB bridesmaid dresses. I’ve been struggling to come up with colors that would go well with it. These are gorgeous!

Grey is my favorite color! It’s our wedding color too! Along with ivory (my dress color), I thought it was stunning. Everyone bugged me to add a “real color” though, so we have a bit of pale pink thrown in there. I love that grey is getting so popular!

Those are great colors, and I’m leaning towards the violets and lavenders as well. The gray works beautifully with your colors.

I was just thinking yesterday that if I could redo my colors I might do gray and purple. It’s going to look marvelous!

I’ve done so much with my colors already I don’t think there’s a chance that I’ll switch it up!

Yep, changed my colors completely. That’s why you should never start planning your wedding more than a year out!

YAYY AUBERGINE! haha! Couldn’t love your colors more! I do like chocolate brown too, but this new palette is so fresh, feels more original. Gray can be so elegant! =)

i LOVE the purple, greys, and ivory. I was hoping to go the purple/ivory route, but the Mr stood his ground. he wanted his blue, so it stuck. :)

i think grey goes great with purple and gives you more options for Mr D’Orsay / groomsmen’s outfits too :)

Love these new colors! They have that mysterious and sexy feel to them, but then again I’m biased: purple is my favorite color :P

The new palette is gorgeous! As someone who has had a dark purple bedroom since about age 9, I’m in love with the plum/aubergine trend that’s taking off! :)

Our wedding colors have shifted a little since we started, but it’s the neutrals that are changing… We originally planned on moss, peacock, and plum on a backdrop of silvery frost and black. Now we’re leaning towards a warmer backdrop of golds and browns. Still not sure which to choose, though!

I always see different combinations of colors and fall in love….but I have purchsed WAY WAY to much Brown & Green Items to switch my colors plus some of my BM have purchased their dresses!!
I dont regret my color choice but I do wish I could have like 10 wedding days to do everything that I want to do!!!

I love you color scheme!!!
