About Mrs. Peep Toe

I Might Just Have to Go Barefoot

February 24th, 2009 @ 4:40 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Seriously. My first dress fitting is in less than two weeks, and I still don’t have a viable pair of shoes to wear. And it’s not from lack of research or shoe purchases. I have officially bought FIVE pairs of shoes for the big event– and I have returned four of them.

I showed you the first pair, which I actually bought for 32 bucks!!

I loved them, but then I tried them on with my dress. They are just too clunky looking.

The next few I bought barely made it out of the package before they were returned:

These showed up damaged, and were just too high.

Source

I knew these were the wrong green, but I bought them anyway.

Source

These too showed up damaged, yet I still tried them on with the dress and they actually looked the best. They are on their way back to endless.com as we speak (thank goodness for free returns).

Source

And I can’t find a picture of the last pair. They are from Nordstrom and they are olive green-ish with a bow. They were also the wrong color and had too high of a heel. They were returned within 48 hours.

So, here I am, five pairs of shoes later and still have nothing that works. I have found a few contenders, but I seriously need the hive’s help and opinion.

In my dreams I am wearing a 1. Satin, 2. Green or pink (or ivory in a pinch), 3. Strappy, 4. 2-2.75 inch heel, and 5. Not too expensive pair of shoes (meaning ideally under $100 bucks). These five qualities seem next to impossible to find.

So, I present you with my top contenders- none of them embody all five qualities. Please help a girl out and tell me which pair I should wear, or at least buy and try on. And if you have any better suggestions, PLEASE let me know. I just don’t really want to be barefoot!!

Contender 1: Mr. Peep’s choice. He calls the shoe “Pink and Little Pink”.
p1
Source

Contender 2: I’d get these either in white and dye them, or in brown. But I have to say, I am worried about dying shoes—I mean, where does a girl even go to do that?

p2
Source

Contender 3: These are just some sweet looking shoes.
p3
Source

Contender 4: I found these on J.Crew’s website this morning and they are totally on sale. I am not sure if the ivory will match. Does anyone know if these are dyeable if they don’t match? I think these might be the safest bet, but they are on final sale, so there will be no returns!!
p4
Source

And finally, Contender 5: I love, love, love these sweet little shoes. They fit all my requirements save for the price. They are too expensive. Should I just take the plunge and buy them?

p5

Source

Oh, and if you have a Contender 6 for me, let me know in the comments!

Which pair of shoes should I choose?

Thanks ladies. I can’t wait to hear your opinions!!

Um…I vote you give #1 to me…jk! But they are pretty! I’ll go on the hunt for your shoes!

I say splurge and go for #5! They’re gorgeous, and you can totally wear them again and again, which (in my mind) justifies the priceyness.

Most bridal salons can help you with dying shoes if you go with number two. I voted for number five (gorgeous), but if you feel budget twinges like I do, “pink and little pink” are gorgeous too!

I know what you mean! I have already had my first fitting, and don’t have shoes. I wore a pair of heels that are 3″ high, so I’m trying to find a shoe with a similar height.

I really want blue shoes to match my sash, but dyeable shoes are so ugly right now. I did just see an ad for a dyeable Lela Rose line at Payless that just came out, there is hope for me there…\

Good luck, I like your alternative picks!

I love #5 and agree that you will be able to get alot of wear out of them.

My second choice is #1.

#1 or #3 are my favorites. But if your gut says #5, then like Miss Powder Puff said, you can always wear them after the wedding and justify the extra cost!

I have Contender 3 too… I like them, but they don’t seem wedding dress special enough for me…

Go for contender 1 or 4!

if you like #2 except for the color, member luminarie posted a pic of her shoes in the “show us your SHOES” thread on the boards and had a link to how she DIY dyed them–i think they look pretty great! here’s the link to her blog for suggestions.

you love 5, buy them. I bought a pair of gold jimmy choos for my wedding and I have worn them many many times since. it is not like they are white, you could wear those to wedding, showers, fancy dinners, lunches seriously pretty much anything (maybe not gym)

Thanks Ladies, keep the votes coming. Has anyone ever ordered off of yoox? Just thought I’d ask since they are new to me and seem to have a stricter return policy. Thanks!

#5 are definitely my favorite, and they’d be wearable again so maybe the splurge would be worth it. That said, if you aren’t comfortable spending money over what you had budgeted for shoes… I like #4… they look like the most comfortable, the ones I would like to wear all night. And again, re-wearable!

Have you looked at David’s Bridal’s dyeable shoes? They have some cute ones. Also, Lela Rose just started a new dyeable line through Payless Shoes that would be affordable.

Definitely wear those pink ones…those are amazing and you can wear them again and again with jeans and cute dresses. If not those, the ivory ones from J. Crew are beautiful. Who cares if the ivory matches exactly? I think it’s better if they aren’t a dead on match!

I just bought these puppies for my bridesmaids from Nordstrom:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/2974117.shtml

The Glint ‘Addison’ Peep Toe Pump in Fuchsia

Its not on their website, but when I went to the store over the weekend they also had them in bright green!

#1 and #5 are great!

Oh my gosh! I just bought #1 in ivory (which is actually more of a champagne color) and I LOVE them! Not too high, comfy, and the little sparkle on the buckle is just enough bling. And don’t worry, I too bought and returned 5 pairs until I saw these and knew they were the ones. Go with your gut - at least with #5, you could definitely wear them again!

i love #5, and agree that the re-wearableness (wow, is that a word? it should be…) could justify the price. Just how far out of the price range are they?

Uh, you will either hate these or love them:

These might be too chunky:

My gut tells me I shouldn’t bother posting either of these, but I’m bored at work. :p

Personally I like #1. However, if you’re not completely convinced any of those are the right shoe I’d just pick a shoe that’s the hight you want and wear it to the fitting. Then if you decide after the fitting you prefer something else you can go with another shoe as long as it’s the same height. Also, I ordered my shoes through zappos and found out they have 365 day returns which is great for the indecisive, like myself!

I like #1 the best. Personally I wouldn’t recommend splurging on #5. They are cute, and could you rewear them, but honestly you will barely see the shoes so it probably isn’t worth the price tag. But that’s just me and I’m pretty cheap. I bought my shoes at Goodwill (although they were Stewart Weitzman!)

This is what I love about weddingbee! It’s like the bees can read our minds….how did you know that I was on Zappos and Shoebuy.com last night with the exact same dillemma???? Jessica Simpson’s entire line is on sale and there were some pinks in there….many a strappy. Honestly, your story of all the returns and damages though is making me doubt whether I want to take the plunge and order shoes online….but like you, the clock is ticking for me. I’ll post some of my finds when I get home from work tonight!

Oh Christian… these designers know we’re suckers for a cute green shoe. The heel is perfect! But why, oh why, do the ones you love the most just break your wallet’s little leather heart?

I have #4 from JCrew in a different color (bright blue!) They run a bit small, since they are not returnable make sure you order the half size up if you get them. Not sure if you can dye them or not

You can totally buy white satin shoes and dye them at a good shoe store or even bridal salon. I was in the same boat with needing a lower 2.5″ heel and couldn’t find the baby pink i was looking for, so i bought white and dyed and I loved my shoes!

I agree with a lot of the girls, the last pair are perfect - green and pink! And they are gorgeous. If you can’t justify the price, I’d definitely say go for the first pair. It’s also nice going with your FI’s choice on something you’re wearing, because it kinda says to him “this is your day too and I love getting your input on these decisions.” I think it starts the marriage off on the right foot, er, shoe, so to speak!

Give http://www.modista.com/ a search. I might have found my perfect wedding shoes through their accessory search engine last week (for $25 on 6pm.com), but I don’t have my e-ring just yet, so don’t tell ;)

I love # 2. As far as dying shoes. I know that any Bridal Store that sells dyeable shoes are able to dye them.
I am spending the weekend shoe shopping. I have 1 1/2 month till my dress comes in and no shoes to go with my dress.
#2 is my favorite but I see why you have picked all of these!!!

I just went to see the Lela Rose line at Payless, and I am sold. Not only are they cute and have great colors, but they had the buy one get the second pair half off sale, so I ordered a second pair dyed to match my dress for the shower! Check it out if you haven’t decided yet… I am going to write a post about it now.

I am having the same problem but I’m looking for bright red shoes. I think I might do a Mrs. Penguin and order 20 lbs of shoes at once then return the ones I don’t like. One of them would have to work right? :)

Miss PT, you’ve probably already solved your problem, but the J. Crew t-straps you posted reminded me so much of the shoes I wore at my wedding 2 weeks ago that I feel compelled to share with you. They are Circa Joan and David from endless.com http://tiny.cc/eqdAD These puppies were on my feet from about 1 PM until I arrived in our hotel room at 11 PM. On my feet all day, and I LOVE to dance. I won’t lie and say my feet didn’t hurt the next day, but they were all I could expect for form and comfort. Good luck in your search.
