I Might Just Have to Go Barefoot

February 24th, 2009 @ 4:40 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Seriously. My first dress fitting is in less than two weeks, and I still don’t have a viable pair of shoes to wear. And it’s not from lack of research or shoe purchases. I have officially bought FIVE pairs of shoes for the big event– and I have returned four of them.

I showed you the first pair, which I actually bought for 32 bucks!!

I loved them, but then I tried them on with my dress. They are just too clunky looking.

The next few I bought barely made it out of the package before they were returned:

These showed up damaged, and were just too high.

I knew these were the wrong green, but I bought them anyway.

These too showed up damaged, yet I still tried them on with the dress and they actually looked the best. They are on their way back to endless.com as we speak (thank goodness for free returns).

And I can’t find a picture of the last pair. They are from Nordstrom and they are olive green-ish with a bow. They were also the wrong color and had too high of a heel. They were returned within 48 hours.

So, here I am, five pairs of shoes later and still have nothing that works. I have found a few contenders, but I seriously need the hive’s help and opinion.

In my dreams I am wearing a 1. Satin, 2. Green or pink (or ivory in a pinch), 3. Strappy, 4. 2-2.75 inch heel, and 5. Not too expensive pair of shoes (meaning ideally under $100 bucks). These five qualities seem next to impossible to find.

So, I present you with my top contenders- none of them embody all five qualities. Please help a girl out and tell me which pair I should wear, or at least buy and try on. And if you have any better suggestions, PLEASE let me know. I just don’t really want to be barefoot!!

Contender 1: Mr. Peep’s choice. He calls the shoe “Pink and Little Pink”.

Contender 2: I’d get these either in white and dye them, or in brown. But I have to say, I am worried about dying shoes—I mean, where does a girl even go to do that?

Contender 3: These are just some sweet looking shoes.

Contender 4: I found these on J.Crew’s website this morning and they are totally on sale. I am not sure if the ivory will match. Does anyone know if these are dyeable if they don’t match? I think these might be the safest bet, but they are on final sale, so there will be no returns!!

And finally, Contender 5: I love, love, love these sweet little shoes. They fit all my requirements save for the price. They are too expensive. Should I just take the plunge and buy them?

Oh, and if you have a Contender 6 for me, let me know in the comments!

Which pair of shoes should I choose?

Um…I vote you give #1 to me…jk! But they are pretty! I’ll go on the hunt for your shoes!

I say splurge and go for #5! They’re gorgeous, and you can totally wear them again and again, which (in my mind) justifies the priceyness.

I love the mister’s name (Pink and Little Pink, hehe!)

Most bridal salons can help you with dying shoes if you go with number two. I voted for number five (gorgeous), but if you feel budget twinges like I do, “pink and little pink” are gorgeous too!

I know what you mean! I have already had my first fitting, and don’t have shoes. I wore a pair of heels that are 3″ high, so I’m trying to find a shoe with a similar height.

I really want blue shoes to match my sash, but dyeable shoes are so ugly right now. I did just see an ad for a dyeable Lela Rose line at Payless that just came out, there is hope for me there…\

Good luck, I like your alternative picks!

I love #5 and agree that you will be able to get alot of wear out of them.

My second choice is #1.

Contender #1…I love the pink, but they come in brown, too!

#1 or #3 are my favorites. But if your gut says #5, then like Miss Powder Puff said, you can always wear them after the wedding and justify the extra cost!

I have Contender 3 too… I like them, but they don’t seem wedding dress special enough for me…

Go for contender 1 or 4!

if you like #2 except for the color, member luminarie posted a pic of her shoes in the “show us your SHOES” thread on the boards and had a link to how she DIY dyed them–i think they look pretty great! here’s the link to her blog for suggestions.

I said splurge for #5 if you love shoes… otherwise, I’d go with #1!

you love 5, buy them. I bought a pair of gold jimmy choos for my wedding and I have worn them many many times since. it is not like they are white, you could wear those to wedding, showers, fancy dinners, lunches seriously pretty much anything (maybe not gym)

Thanks Ladies, keep the votes coming. Has anyone ever ordered off of yoox? Just thought I’d ask since they are new to me and seem to have a stricter return policy. Thanks!

#5 are definitely my favorite, and they’d be wearable again so maybe the splurge would be worth it. That said, if you aren’t comfortable spending money over what you had budgeted for shoes… I like #4… they look like the most comfortable, the ones I would like to wear all night. And again, re-wearable!

Have you looked at David’s Bridal’s dyeable shoes? They have some cute ones. Also, Lela Rose just started a new dyeable line through Payless Shoes that would be affordable.
