Map Obsession: Part 2

February 24th, 2009 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Apple Cider

When we left off I was trying to decide how to create a unique map to go with our invitations and our out of town bags. I was inspired by the work of Laura Hooper, but only had a computer and maps from Yahoo! and Google to work with. I decided the first map would be a big map of the area, and I knew I needed to point out a few key areas like our college (Appalachian State University), tourist sites like The Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain and The Mast General Store.

(Click the map for a closer look!)

Once we had the big map made, I wanted to make a more detailed map. Of course I would never want our guests to get lost! So, I made a more detailed map, below.

(Click the map for a closer look!)

These are not final, so any changes you think I should make, I will! It was really fun making these. It took me a solid 10 hours of designing and perfecting. Was it worth it?

Oh my gosh! It’d take me 100 hours, because I wouldn’t know where to begin! But yes, they look great, and I’m sure your guests will really appreciate them.

Beautiful! Just beautiful! I certainly hope you put a little “made by me” stamp on the back so people realize all the hard work you put into them :)

it looks good! one suggestion I might do is take the bubble off from around the directions… it says where they are too, I think the bubble is a little to cluttering… your guests will be able to see where the directions are to… just a thought!

Beautiful! I cannot believe you used word–amazing!! I’m doing mine with Flash right now b/c I like it better than Illustrator. I’m a WNC bride too (Asheville), and I like what you did with the Blue Ridge Pkwy and mountains! Can’t wait to see more!
