Winery Love

February 25th, 2009 @ 9:26 am by Mrs. Apple Cider

Let me preface all of this by saying that I am lightweight, and one glass of wine is just about right for me. Usually if I have more… my head hurts. :) But, Mr. Apple Cider and I love wine. Not just your average Yellowtail grocery store wine, but we like trying out all different types of wine. We have favorites from Rhode Island, Ohio, North Carolina, Oregon and more.

Throughout our entire relationship we have made a point to wine taste together. Our love of wine helped us decide on picking the Banner Elk Winery as our ceremony and reception spot.

We don’t just like tasting the wine…”wine tasting” is all about the winery experience, from walking through the vineyards, to meeting the owners and chatting with anyone behind the counter.

Here is a list of some of our favorite wineries:

Something about wineries and weddings just go together. Here are some of my favorite winery inspired pictures.

Here’s to hoping we come out with our own “wine inspired” pictures!
Are you taking cues from your venue for your pictures? What “can’t miss” shots do you want to take at your venue?

Oh Miss AC, you are going to have such a beautiful wedding! I already can’t wait to see your recaps ;)

We are for sure taking inspiration from our surroundings. Trying to get a mix of beachy shots along with the lush, tropical greenery and flowers. I’ve even “matched” our rehersal dinner outfits to our surroundings so that we can get some great family pictures. That’s just how I am….

If you’re ever in the Philly area, you should go check out Almathea winery! It’s in South Jersey, and has some amazing — and award winning! — wines.

Miss AC you’re so flipping CUTE! I think your winery inspirations are to die for. Le sigh — are you going to be using wine corks all over the place at the reception…i love love love when wineauxs do this :)

My fiancee and I are big on wine and wine tastings too, but neither of our families would really appreciate it at all if we made it a major element of our wedding. :( So sad.

I’m so jealous of your venue pick!
We’re talking about a winery wedding… but the trouble is picking one! Here in Southern Illinois, we have the Shawnee Wine Trail, a cluster of about 12 or 13 vineyards all within a 25 mile radius of each other. I’ve narrowed it down to three… one has our favorite wine selections, and the other two, while the wine isn’t bad, the scenery and atmosphere are to DIE FOR.
Here’s the trail map: http://www.shawneewinetrail.com/map.htm

We love wine and the whole experience as well. We do some of the festivals at our local Cayuga Wine Trail in upstate NY. I’d love to try to visit places in other states too! A winery wedding would be amazing!

The Fiance & I love tasting local wines too. Some of our favs have been just walking into a tiny shack of a winery and walking out with 2-3 bottles.
We’re also planning a winery wedding in the Hudson Valley area (about 1-1.5 hrs outside of NYC). We’ll be leaving bottles of Pinot Noir (his fav) and Riesling (my fav) on the tables with custom labels designed by us. The label designs will flow through the save teh dates, invites, wedding programs and the labels we’re making for the home brew that we’re going to bottle. The idea of the home brew is that we’re going to work to find the perfect brew (probably a pilsner because it’s more generic) from when we got engaged up till the wedding day. The bottle home brew will also serve as seat designations at the table. =D
Good Luck and I would love to hear some of your ideas!
P.S. My colors are white, red(for traditional chinese elements & works nice w/the red grapes for wine) and a light lime/celadon green (green grapes. =O )

We went wine tasting on T’s birthday and had brunch in the GA mountains and it was wonderful. They also had a gorgeous wedding venue there and made me go hmmmm….?

I also love your photos you shared and the ideas for the place cards with the cork. Very creative!

I love the background at my venue!! I’m really hoping to get some amazing mountain shots and Garden of the Gods shots…I’m worried that the pics won’t look as good as those I’ve seen online, although the venue does give you a lot to work with! But our pictures will be taken in the morning, so the sun will be in our eyes! :-P
