I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!
About Mrs. D'orsay

Andrew Bird

February 26th, 2009 @ 5:22 pm by Mrs. D'orsay

If I look in my inbox for emails from Mr. D, I’ll find about 50+ emails all with the subject line “Andrew Bird”. This is because on our first date we exchanged a few of our favorite artists, and Andrew Bird was one of mine. So, after he went back to England and I headed back to Arizona I sent him an email to this YouTube video, hence the subject title.

Fast-forward to the present. Mr. D was working in the kitchen while I was making lunch. The song came on on iTunes, and I had a realization:

This should be the song I walk down the aisle to! It means so much to both of us. Not just for the Andrew Bird emails, but also because Mr. D learned to play the song on his guitar and would play it for me over Skype chats late at night before I fell asleep.

My first choice for my aisle walk song is La valse d’Amelie:

Mr. D was not a fan. He said it reminded him of “creepy goblin children in the woods” - no lie. I should probably add that Mr. D hadn’t seen the movie Amelie at this point, but within the next day or so I sat him down and made him watch it with me. It still didn’t change his opinion, and I definitely don’t want him to think of “creepy goblin children in the woods” when I walk down the aisle, which is why I’m so happy we found another fantastic song—one that means so much to us as a couple.

How did you chose your aisle walk song?

That is a beautiful song Miss Stiletto :)
I’m probably going to walk down to the traditional buuum bum bum bum, something about hearing that song makes me tingly.

Mine was actually a song that DH had put on a CD for me. He follows indie music, and makes me a lot of CDs. The song is Alexi Murdoch, All of My Days. It was perfect.

I haven’t told West Cost Groom my choice but it’s perfect for me. All of our songs with shared meanngs are those ones where you have an important memory, but the song itself is a big fat NO.

Ooh, also, I looooove Andrew Bird. That was another artist DH introduced me to. We saw him at a show a while back, and he’s AMAZING. My fave of his is Fake Palindromes. First song on the first CD DH ever made for me. :)

I LOVE Andrew Bird. “Nervous Tic Motion” is my favorite song. And I’m having the hardest time deciding my aisle-walking song! I know I want live music, not recorded. So maybe an acoustic guitar or string quartet arrangement of one of our favorite songs!

I definitely love me some Andrew Bird! Great choice! Luckily for me, he’s from Chicago, which is just south of me, so he tours here a lot. ;)

I’m walking down the aisle to “Day After Day” by Badfinger. There’s no rhyme or reason for it–I was 15 years old, listening to the oldies station, and it came on. I thought, “This would be a great, original wedding march!” and 7 years later, I still think so.

Tables and Chairs– my favorite

Saw him at the 9:30 club last month and he was quite dreamy. And yeah, I second the creepy goblin children comment :)

Aww, I love the Amelie song. That’s hilarious that it reminds your FI of “creepy goblin children in the woods.” He sure had a strong reaction to it!

Amelie looks like a creepy goblin child…I’m with Mr. D on this one!! So glad you found another song!!

I’m going all traditional with Canon in D but this little part of me wants something cute and original…and that little part of me is growing!!

I had always dreamed of walking down the aisle to Etta James’ “At Last,” and I my choice was reaffirmed when on our first date my FI gave me a mixed CD, which included the song as one of his favorites too!

Oh yay! I love Andrew Bird so much!! I’m a big fan of the entire Armchair Apocrypha Album. I used the opening of Fiery Crash as a cell phone ring, but lost it when I had to get a new phone :(
Oh, and if you like him, you might want to check out Bon Iver. I love the falsetto he uses for most of his songs and overall amazing.

i walked down the aisle to the theme from “anne of green gables” which is one of my favorite books and movies :) my husband, though, had no idea about my choice until the rehearsal and asked me, “why are you walking down the aisle to ‘the rainbow connection’?” hahaha!
