About Mrs. Joey

Hello from Miss Joey!

February 27th, 2009 @ 2:53 pm by Mrs. Joey

Woot! Woot! Hello Hive! I’m so excited to be a BEE. I got the news last night and all I could think about was ideas for posts. I think it kept me up part of the night!

I’m a Seattle girl born and raised (a rarity in the city) who doesn’t drink coffee but loves the weather here. I know, call me crazy, but I don’t mind the grey days when I know the summer is going to be amazing. I’ve been a bit nomadic over the last 10 years with stints in DC (x2), Russia (x2) and year in Manchester, England before settling back in Seattle 3 years ago. I love to travel and get to do quite a bit of it with work. I’m a non-profit Jill of all trades. I’ve done everything from newsletter design, to passing out bed nets, to setting up an office abroad. Variety is the spice of life right?

Mr. Joey and I have been dating for 4 years and 2 months, of which the first 1.5 years were spent apart. We’re complete opposites but exactly the same. Both Cancers, both working at non-profits (he’s a high school teacher) and completely nuts. Sometimes I think we ended up together because no one could put up with our randomness. I will periodically start shaking my booty and he’s been known to just make animals calls at will. See? Nuts!

I knew Mr. Joey was the one after we went on a 2 week road trip together to Montana and didn’t kill each other. We had been dating for about 5 months at the time but had only spent 2 weeks of those 5 months together. I was in Manchester and he was living in Brooklyn. The trip could have turned out to be horrible, but it didn’t. We had such a great time and we’re eager to do it again. I was sold on him from then on.

I’m excited to share with you our experiences of not only trying to plan a wedding for $10,000 (with 130 guests) but also building a house at the same time. That’s right, we’re just starting the process of building a house, and if we stay on schedule, we’ll be moving into a not-completely-done but livable house around the time we get married! Talk about nuts. It’s going to be crazy, it’s going to stressful, but it is going to be wonderful! Welcome to nutty life of the Joeys! I’m so excited to share it with all of you and get your input — we’re going to need it!

Welcome Miss Joey! I was reading your post and all I could say was “me too!”, “us too!” and “OMG!” LOL! My FH and I are both Cancers, both is the same line of work (programmers), we even went to the same university at the same time! Are in a long distance relationship and are also just as random as you Joeys!
I’m looking forward to reading your future posts! :D
P.S. My FH and I share the same birthday too, down to the year! Crazy huh?

@ joanlindsay - I guess I should rephrase that. We traveled around western Montana (Missoula, Kalispell and Glacier Nat’l park) and then headed up to the Canadian Rockies. Loved it!

@ Firefighter_Prazs_Girl - I know. Building house only became a reality 3 weeks ago. It’s been crazy ever since! Luckily I grew up in the business (my dad is a contrator), so I know what to expect.

@LatteLove - Oh the budget. Don’t even get me started! :)
