Rehearsal Dinner Space

February 27th, 2009 @ 5:35 pm by Mrs. Apple Cider

We are sooooo excited that we have found our rehearsal dinner space. We have been going back and forth about locations and finally found the place. Wait for it… it is called The Apple Barn. How perfect for the Apple Ciders. :) I have been to a wedding reception at The Apple Barn and fell in love with the rustic, country feel.

We are planning to have it catered by an amazing down home country cooking place called The Daniel Boone Inn.

What is on the menu??

  • Fried Chicken
  • Country Style Steak
  • Country Ham
  • Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
  • Green Beans
  • Fresh Stewed Apples
  • Cut Corn
  • Coleslaw

Yum! I can’t wait for my few New York friends to experience a good ol’ home cooked country meal. I created an inspiration board to share with Mr. Apple Cider’s mom. She wanted to know the “feel” we are going for.

Here are some of items that are a must. Check out these adorable napkins that are perfect for our dinner. I found them at Plum Party and got a discount. I bought 100 for $32.

I am looking for great gingham (cheap) fabric and hoping I can make table runners. I’d like to create this look:

I will definitely be purchasing lanterns from Luna Bazaar. The prices are pretty good. I am considering some with color but might go with an “off white” to give a gold glow.

For centerpieces I am thinking of either doing baskets with apples or some dark brown wood pieces. A good DIY option would be to buy a simple wood crate from Michaels and then staining it. So many options!

That looks SO adorable! Your inspiration images are spot on…. sometimes I wish I could throw a second country wedding to have something so charming like this.

I really like your idea for your rehearsal dinner! We’re having ours at our house, with catered BBQ and beer. Super simple so we can focus on wedding-day details.

I like the gingham runner idea! My mother made me red gingham tablecloths and a couple runners for my dorm room my freshman year in college. Really cute! I still have them years later, but they are currently stored away because they don’t really go with anything in my boyfriend’s modern apartment! haha

I’m excited about our rehearsal (a welcome dinner that everyone is invited to, actually) … but yours makes me totally want to change it all.

I love it, AC! How perfect it will be for your fall wedding! (It also looks very similar to our rehearsal dinner site, so I’m biased.) Love where you’re going with your wedding vision!

Wow, I love the long tables. And I was JUST playing around on Plum Party the other day, thinking how much cute stuff they have on there for weddings and parties — like the “looks like silver” plastic forks, spoons and knives!

wow! what a cute look!
Are you worried about taking on work of designing (and putting together) the rehearsal dinner decor and in addition to everything that goes into your reception?

HAHA! I LOVE your venue, mostly because as a kid, the apple barn was where we would have weeklong church retreats. I can’t believe how gorgeous it looks all dolled up for a reception!

OMG!!! I’ve been there! I used to spend a few weeks out of my summer there doing habitat style mission work!! Just beware that if anyone is staying in the bunkhouse right behind it, chances are they will peek there heads in to see what all the hulabaloo is about - we always did! Oh, I think the restrooms were set up so that there was a men’s on one side and a women’s on the other, but since they are both single stalls, you might want to make them both unisex. EEK! I’m excited for you. You have to take some pictures down byt the creek (across the field) - its beautiful!

I went to a wedding there in Sept 06, and it was one of my favorites! A few of us stayed at the guest house for a few nights and made a nice weekend out of it.

I was born and raised 15 minutes from both the apple barn and dan’l boone inn. One of my closest friend’s family owns the restaurant. If you have any questions about the area or anything, please let me know. amandafarthing @ gmail

what a beautiful rehearsal dinner space! If we were getting married in the States that’s exactly what I’d want. Actually the rehearsal dinner has been my biggest source of stress so far. My FI and I want something small and intimate, where we can relax with our parent’s and the bridal party (and their SO’s) and spend some time together. My MIL wants to invite every single out-of-town guest. Doesn’t sound like a big deal until your realize that 85% of our 300 person (thanks mom and dad, and FMIL and FFIL for that) guest list is from out of town. So the rehearsal would end up being pretty much every wedding guest except for my extended family who are ‘in-town’. Argh! Plus my FMIL thinks she can do all this on a budget of $30 per person…in London! It’s impossible! OK i need to stop writing this because i’m getting stressed out all over again

congratulations again on finding a beautiful spot!!
