What a Cake!

February 27th, 2009 @ 12:40 pm by Mrs. Apple Cider

This might be my dream cake. It is by none other than the Ace of Cakes himself, Duff from Charm City Cakes.

I love fondant, but fondant comes at a price. I am working with a very reasonable cake maker in the Boone, NC area. Her name is Rita Halle and she has been making cakes for a long time. Mr. Apple Cider and I aren’t sure what we want, but we know we want a 4-tier square cake. I really want it to reflect the mood of the wedding, so that might mean the cake may end up relatively plain with some flowers.

More to come on what cake to expect at our shindig!

I love the vibrant colors, but that’s pretty tame for a Duff cake!

Oh i LOVE that cake! I saw the episode where it was made, I think it’s base on elements from the couple’s invitations or something. Definitely tame but SO pretty!

I <3 Bmore’s hometown heroes! Charm City Cakes do a surprising amount of traditional wedding cakes. They’re just better known for their “out there” type of designs.

Love Charm City Cakes, but their minimum price for a special design is $1000!

I love all the geeky cakes! My FH and me are both computer programmers and I’ve loved this cake from the very beginning: http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm158/doublexgeeks/November/scienceblogs2.jpg

Surprisingly enough, he won’t go for it, LOL! He wants a more traditional cake. A cake that has code on it! How can you go wrong with that? :P

I’m pretty sure I would have proposed to Duff if West Coast Groom hadn’t snapped me up first! Love him and his crazy deliciousness!

i think that cake is amazing… no idea who Duff is (is he an East coast guy or ?). Although if he makes a lot of crazy cakes I’d agree it is pretty tame. I think it’s nice though.. in a very simple, natural and sorta whimsical sort of way!

Marshmallow fondant is surprisingly easy and DELICIOUS! I love it, anyway. I am tempted to try making it for my own wedding cake. ;)
