Ties For the Guys

February 28th, 2009 @ 12:20 pm by Mrs. Stiletto

I’ve been thinking about just having the ushers wear black suits for the occasion - it seems silly to me to ask them to shell out money on a tux, especially when we’re doing black and white anyway… I figure most of the guys have a basic black suit in their closet.

Since buying gifts for the guys always seems to be a struggle, I thought ties would be nice for the groomsmen. I mean, if they’re already wearing black suits and a white shirt, we could tie their “look” together with matching ties. Etsy’s Rabbit Stop has an amazing selection of ties, and they’re pretty much all $17.50 - what a steal!

Wouldn’t this patterned tie look great? Since the bridesmaids will be wearing a houndstooth pattern, I think this is a great compliment.

The listing says this is black and silver, but in the picture it looks like black and white. Dots would be fun!

Are you pitching in for any menswear? What’s a great source for a large selection of men’s ties?

Ooo, thanks for another great Etsy recommendation! Mr. MagPie and I still totally need to figure out the guys’ ties. ;-)

Those are really cute! I love the dot one, but I’m a sucker for dots, especially teeny tiny ones. My only concern would be that they might photograph a little funny. Sometimes small patterns look a little optically illusion-y from farther away. You can see it a little bit if you bring up the Etsy listing for the ties and look at the thumbnails. If that doesn’t bother you though- I say go for it!

thetiebar.com We are getting our yellow paisley ties from there and they are only $15 a piece! They also sell boys ties (for the ring bearer) in many of the styles!

I’m so lost when it comes to ties…I just want something clean and classic. How on earth do I find that??

I think you should do the 2nd on and then find a cute green tie tack and/or cuff links to give them the POP the girls get with their shoes.

Now THIS is a useful and attractive idea. As far as we’re concerned, the more ties the better. (We like ties!)

My fiance wanted to wear sneakers. So we brought all the boys sneakers. We are also going to buy the ties. I looked in Mens Warehouse and they had nice ties. I’m going to go look at Rabbit Shop. Thanks.

My FH is getting all the groomsmen/Fathers gifts but along with the gifts he has picked out cufflinks that fit their personality from different Etsy shops…

Rather than getting the free tux for the groom, my fiance is splitting the cost with all his groomsmen, so every gets a discount. Still trying to think of ways we can help out all our traveling wedding party!
