At first I was like ’OO-Uh-Ah!’ as my neck rolled. He ain’t worthy (note: no one is)! But as I watch the two of them sit there and blissfully take my standard verbal assaults, I realized this dude actually meets the qualifications: 1) can take my shiz, and 2) makes her hella happy.

It was such a nice surprise this morning to hear from Etsy’s Goose Grease that our cake topper was completed ahead of schedule - yay!! I love having a miniature version of us. What fun! Aren’t we cute?

You have probably figured out that I like craft stuff and adding DIY personal touches to everything. After Mr. Ducky saw how much I loved my Cricut and its creations, he decided to follow a similar theme and get me a Cuttlebug for Christmas. “Cuttle what?” Yes, my friends, it is another “craft insect” from Provo Craft to add to my collection, and hopefully use for different details in the wedding. Do you think I’m a nerd yet?

The Cuttlebug embosses and does die cuts. Basically, I can get different patterns and sizes of embossing folders to use on paper. I can also take specific dies and cut out specific shapes, and unlike the Cricut, I can get exact placement of where I want the cut to be made.

Do you know the “Life is Good” line of products? They’re quite popular here in my part of the country, and early in my relationship with the mister, I thought of them all the time. I’d come out of a nasty breakup (with a coworker *knocking myself upside the head*), was living in a city where I didn’t know anyone, and was in the middle of negotiations for a new role at work (awesome, but nerve-wracking).
I met my guy, and I thought, “Man, life is good” way more often than I deserved.
Then we started renovating a house, bought another house, moved, talked about marriage, got engaged, got a puppy, dealt with job tension, tried to plan a wedding… in short, we were living life in super speed without many relationship skills yet developed. I didn’t think “life is good” very often at all anymore.
As of today, we are approximately 90 days from our wedding day, and I’m thrilled to report that I’m thinking that life is good, really good, once again. What changed? I don’t know. It certainly didn’t happen all at once, I’ll tell you that much. I learned not to yell, he got better at offering help without being asked, we both grew up a bit more. I remembered that I’m here by choice, and finally let go of any resentment I had at the choices I made to stay with my guy and build a family. I’m closer to forgiving myself for mistakes made in my past. I’m remembering to hold my tongue and not lash out when I’m hurt. He’s apologizing better and checking in with me more often.
I have a confession to make: I own every single Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine. Not only do I own them, but I move them every single time I move to a new apartment. When I got the Winter 2009 edition, I found a few great projects.
We are still deciding on what the guys will wear, but how adorable is this suit with a bow boutonniere? The Winter magazine shows a few cool bow-inspired boutonnieres.
(from Martha Stewart: To make this boutonniere, wrap ribbon around three fingers 7 times. Holding lightly at center, fan out loops into a circle. Pin to secure, and apply fabric glue between layers. Let dry, and remove pin.)
Just sending a friendly reminder email about this weekend’s Paper Source event that Mrs. Cherry Blossom blogged about. I’ll be at the Chestnut store in San Francisco around noon tomorrow.
Would love to meet up with any other Bay Area Bees?

There is also another event this weekend in San Francisco on Sunday. My florist- Huckleberry Karen Designs is hosting it, and my photographer: Blueberry Photography, and many others will be there. It’s also a free event at Fort Mason. If you go, you may spot a former bee- humm, guess who?
Hi, Hive, it’s been a bad week. This is a pretty difficult post for me to write. I am hoping it will help me find some closure, as well as letting you know why I won’t be able to write here much longer on Weddingbee.
I busted Mr. Dragon for a full on affair. Not kissing, not emotional… it was a full-on affair with all of the ugly asides. Lying, hiding, everything. I console myself with the fact that I know I had nothing to do with it.
There is no subtle or nice way to say it. I found out the way you always find out - through the phone bill. Through many layers of lies, I was finally able to get him to come clean enough to know that I no longer want to spend my life with him, because I don’t recognize him anymore. He is not at all who I thought he was.
I will be honest - I am devastated. That word exactly captures how I feel. After thinking about it, I know that he will never be capable of loving me the way I love him. He will never be unselfish the way I was in staying with him through our relationship’s many ups and downs and his many other mistakes. He doesn’t have what it takes to be a good husband or father, and I thank God every second that I found out about the affair. I have successfully dodged the biggest bullet of my life. All I have to do is think about my parents and how much they love each other and would never treat each other the way he has treated me. It took exactly that long to realize that I deserve better.

Phew! Things have been pretty hectic lately.
By this time next week, Mr. Sushi and I will be relaxing (hopefully!) in Hawaii before the days leading up to our wedding. The last two weeks I’ve been confirming timelines, re-confirming vendors, finishing up small projects and basically trying to get organized. I’ve been running around like a headless chicken!
One of the smaller projects I’ve been working on are our OOT bags. I don’t plan on assembling them til we get to Oahu; there are still a few things I need to get for the bags that I plan on buying there. I’ve been working on a few lil’ details for the bags so I have less to do when we’re there, like name tags. Each bag will be “assigned” to a guest/family.
I don’t write stories very often, but whenever I do I have a hard time coming up with an ending. My endings always end up sounding trite, or abrupt. I often put the story off to the side and end up forgetting about it because I can’t find a way to write in the perfect ending. Telling the story of our wedding day is the one instance where I’m not left feeling this way.
The original plan was to drive with our photographer out to a park with the Seattle skyline in the background, and have one last photo shoot for the day. But by the end of dinner I was so tired. All I wanted was to be done with the day, and I told Kelli that we weren’t going to go to the park and that after the exit she was done shooting.
I assumed Mr. Avocado was feeling the same way I was, but when I told him about my decision, he did one of the most thoughtful things he has ever done for me. He reminded me how much I loved the inspirational photos I had found, the shots that gave me the idea to do the skyline shoot. He put aside his own exhaustion and encouraged me to go through with the shoot. We only went up to the park for about 20 minutes, but the photographs we have are just stunning. We look tired, and our facial expressions in most of them aren’t the best, but they so perfectly sum up the wedding for us. A classic storybook ending if I’ve ever seen one.
Congratulations to the winner, lreighard1!

Navy and Lavender carries some of the most adorable wedding gifts, welcome totes and custom favors around! And today they’re giving away a $150 gift certificate to one lucky Weddingbee!
I started my hunt for the perfect dress a year before my wedding. Why? For two reasons. One - because I lack a single ounce of patience. Two - because I originally thought I was going to buy a vintage dress, and when searching for a one of a kind frock, you need to allow yourself plenty of time while also being ready to pounce when the right one comes along.
My mom and my sister weren’t so down with the vintage dress idea. While most of the dresses I was finding would barely make a dent in the budget, they wanted the whole dress shopping experience, tears and all. I can’t blame them, but at the time I was completely determined to buy the dress that I loved, that fit my aesthetic (load of tulle!) and was unique.
I became very familiar with the best of the best of vintage Web sites out there, and I plan on posting about that later to share my knowledge with those beginning their quest for vintage wedding attire. But I digress.
In my daily searches for a dress last fall, I came across Tangerine Boutique. While there wasn’t much on the site that screamed wedding, I came across this while tulle number for only $165! After weeks of searching, I immediately purchased it!

You know what I love about Weddingbee? So.much.inspiration. For our ceremony programs, I took some inspiration from (ok, more like completely copied) Mrs. Emerald’s ceremony programs. I just thought they were so unique, and I’ve always loved when pictures are added in programs.
So here’s our version of Mrs. Emerald’s wonderful programs:

As you can tell the ribbon frays a little, so I sent the programs to Vail and when I got here I trimmed each ribbon one last time. I’ve found that the best tool for cutting a clean line on ribbon is the Fiskar’s scissors with Spring Action- Seriously, these are awesome for crafts.
