I mentioned earlier that I have been looking for my wedding day jewelry in antique stores. The search isn’t going so great, so for now I’ve turned to salivating over the world of wedding jewelry that I can only afford in my dreams. A girl has to get inspiration, right? I love this adorable necklace from Tiffany. *sigh*
So simple. So cute. So ridiculously out of my budget!

Where we had left off:
NOTE: As usual, my recap photos are from a variety of sources (father, family, friends, florist, me, and some from the “photographer”). All post-processing has been done by me with each individual’s consent and permission. You can see an example of a “before” picture here.
~~~
I left the florist on the front porch, where she continued to try and salvage what was left of our bouquets. I’m sure that at that point, had my pulse been taken, it would have resembled the rat-ta-tata of a jackhammer. I. WAS. STRESSED. I tried to calm myself down by breathing.
HEEEEEEEEEEEE… HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO… HEEEEEEEEEEE… HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…
I Lamazed my way up to the master bedroom, where I would be getting dressed, and was dismayed to find that my carefully organized command center had become the repository for everybody’s belongings. I couldn’t find my accessories! I couldn’t find my shoes! Where was my timetable and photo shoot list? My blood pressure rose to dangerous levels. I tried breath control again.
HEE HOO HEE HOO HEE HOO HEE HOOHEEHOOHEHEHE
It wasn’t working.
I love wedding websites. I love to read about the couple’s story, learn about their wedding plans and look through their pictures. I will often check back for updates and send emails to the couple. I even let the wedding song on the site run over and over again in a loop… and will not press pause or stop. I realize that I am probably (definitely) in the minority. I think I especially love wedding websites because they give you an idea of the couple’s style and provides you with a glimpse into their relationship. I couldn’t wait to get the Latte wedding website up and running.
I naturally thought that Mr. Latte would jump all over the idea of becoming the “webmaster” for our site. He was an IT Consultant in his past life, and could probably survive for weeks just off of water and the internet. So I asked him to create the website… without a plan. What kind of a plan, you ask?
See, I’ve had to devise numerous plans in the past to “gently guide” him into agreeing to help out with some wedding related tasks. Remember that lame excuse I used to get him to research and book our hotel blocks? That was all part of the plan. And that time I used the free food and gift trick to get him to come with me to the Crate & Barrel event? Yup, all planned out ahead of time. But I thought I had this one in the bag.
He said that he wasn’t interested in making our website and I was caught off guard.
“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Mr. Penguin and I are taking a whirlwind trip to New York! We’re taking a red eye on Virgin America and arriving in NYC first thing tomorrow morning.
I. Am. Excited.
I’ve known Bee and Mr. Bee since 2007, and have been slaving working for Mrs. Bee since shortly after our June 2008 wedding. Can you believe that I’ve never met Mrs. Bee? It’s one of the first things that people ask me when they find out that I work for Weddingbee. No, we’ve never met, but I think it’s pretty accurate to say that we’ve spoken to each other every day since mid-last year. Christmas and Thanksgiving included, I do believe. She is practically family to me, yet we’ve never met. Mr. Penguin thinks that this is bizzarre… having a life that is so severely impacted by all the bees that I’ve never met in real life. He thinks the internet is utterly insane. Aside from the majority of the Nor Cal bees (WHUTTUP NOR CAL), I haven’t met many of the girls that I interact with on a daily basis! Crazy.
Anyhoo, NYC.
We have some great stuff planned, but have some gaps that we’re looking to fill in, and I’m hoping any NYCers or NYC enthusiasts can point us in a direction for the gaps in our trip! I’ve been studying the ways of the New Yorkers by watching The City religiously. It seems like New Yorkers don’t like gossiping as much as us Cali girls do, and they also like to wear funny little beret or beanie hats all the friggin’ time. So, no gossiping, wear hats. Got it.
I thought I would show you some great things you can use for invitation DIY. I know that for many people it’s difficult because you don’t have access to designing your own graphics for invitations, can’t afford custom invites (like me), or are just short on time. Here are some letterpress invitation sets from Target that are so beautiful and chic.
I’ve started pondering what purse I might get for “the day”. Part of me feels like it will be a little pointless. I mean, how much will I really be carrying it? And what could I possibly need that I couldn’t just have my MOH (and big sis!) carry for me?
A lot of the clutches I look at look, well, bride-y. It’s the same quandary I found myself in when I was looking at shoes—I feel like if I’m going to make the investment, I should at least be able to use/wear/enjoy the items again if at all possible (I’m sure as the day approaches I’ll be fighting tooth and nail for a reason to wear my dress again).
I love this Harry Levine clutch (circa 1950s/60s) from 20th Century Finds on Etsy:
Up until this point, everything was going perfectly and seemed like a dream. But it was now time to MEET THE PARENTS (dun, dun, dun - cue dramatic music).
My parents are both traditional and liberal (well for Korean parents). My dad speaks accentless English (rare for an immigrant Asian parent), has a masters degree in English, and is an English teacher so he’s not your typical Korean dad. My mom’s English is not as good as my dad’s, but she can understand and speak English fluently. Still… in the end I guess they are your typical, traditional, Korean parents.
Mr. Bee is half Japanese, half White and sadly I knew from the beginning that race would be an issue with my family. I always thought that I would marry someone that was Korean, my family always assumed that I would marry someone Korean, no one in my family has ever married or even dated someone that wasn’t Korean. But I would never wish that Mr. Bee were Korean or anything else because that would make him a different person than the one I fell in love with.
I knew this dinner was not going to be easy and needless to say I was extremely nervous. My family was going to be hard on him. Mr. Bee on the other hand was as calm as a cucumber - he was prepared for my family to hate him for 10 years (yes he actually said that), and he would just show my family how much he loved me. What more could he do after all. My parents, my brother, Mr. Bee and I all met at a galbi restaurant in Koreatown. My mom had booked a private room so that we could all talk.
Here’s a gander at some of the questions he had to answer:
1) Can you tell me the difference between: emotion, feeling, sentiment and sensation?
Fly fly away! We dropped our Save the Dates in the mail today. It’s quite a feeling of accomplishment to finish a craft project. I’ve been known to have problems following through on projects of this nature, but nevertheless, we done yo! I feel like I’ve beaten a dead horse as far as sharing our experience, but I have to close the loop and show you the finished product!
And here they are…
As you may recall, we had issues burning the screen, which eventually led to our demise.
Since I decided to choose rainbow sherbet colored dresses for my ’maids, I wanted to stick with the same dress style. My favorite style was the twist-tank dress, but Littlest Sister Kitten is a junior bridesmaid and a little too young for that V-neck action! I decided to have two of the bridesmaids wear the “Twist-Front” dress and two wear the “Abigail” dress. The dresses are really similar, with the same fabric and same skirt, just different necklines.
That’s right, one half of the husband and wife pair that will shoot our wedding is a paparazzo (he took the images above)! How ironic… because when we all met in person for the first time the other day I said, “I don’t like flash.” (I meant using the flash in photographs, but I guess generally speaking, as well!)
