A while back, I posted about the special little ladies we hope to have as flower girls at our wedding. I say hope because Mr. Latte still hasn’t asked them! Remember those felt flower bouquets I made? The personalized ones with the ceramic initial letters and pretty pink ribbon handles? Yup, they’re still sitting in the trunk of Mr. Latte’s car.
Now before we start getting angry at the Mr’s in our lives (I can see this turning into an entirely different kind of post), it’s not entirely Mr. Latte’s fault. Both Mr. Latte and the girls’ family have been super busy so they haven’t been able to meet up for him to pop the big question to the little girls. He has promised me that this is THE weekend, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Anyway, I wanted to do something equally fun for our special little guys. These two boys are brothers and they hold a very special place in my heart… I’ve watched them grow from tiny newborn babies into big boys that love to run around, crack jokes and make people laugh. The older one, “N”, is super smart, has a stellar memory and is friends with THE John Malkovich. (No joke). The younger one, “J”, loves to play sports, helps clean up around the house and is going to be the biggest heartbreaker one day.
What could I do for these Star Wars, basketball, and Lego-lovin’ kids? Well, since Star Wars scares me, basketball bores me, and “N” can out-build me with his eyes closed (he’s really THAT good), I decided to go the boooring route and make them something wedding related.

Growing up, my mom always called me a “camera ham”. I loved being in front of the camera, and still do.
As you can imagine, our wedding day will be no different. To ensure that all of our camera hamming moments are captured, we recently hired a second shooter. In addition to a second shooter, Mr. Spring Roll’s uncle (our primary photographer) has asked us to compile a list of must have photos.
Included in our list are:

Well, maybe not completely packed, but I do have all of my wedding day accessories finalized! The shoes took a while to find, and I searched and searched for earrings and a clutch, but I’m finally ready!

I found a wonderful website called Evening Elegance that has a HUGE selection of evening bags. I was looking for something that didn’t cost a fortune but didn’t look inexpensive. There are a ton of color selections, and my bag arrived just two days after I ordered it.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Quite simply, I love our photographer. With this ridiculously amazing style, how could you not?

Mr. Quiche and I went back and forth on photography for a while – how much to spend, what style we wanted – and researched quite a few local Jamaican photographers. Honestly, we just weren’t that impressed with what we found. Our resort includes a paltry 36 shots with our general wedding package, and we thought we’d just rely on our talented friends for the rest.
Until Ashley and I found each other.

Since I suck at card making, I decided to craft something different to send out as Valentines. Using materials I had lying around, I made these little magnets. They were quite fun to make, and I’m so glad they turned out! Here’s how I did it:

Last week, Mr. CC and I went to the bakery to taste cake (yum!) and picked out designs and whatnot for our cupcakes. I’m a bad blogger and didn’t take a single picture. However, we were only there for about 20 minutes.
Since we decided on cupcakes, and I felt stupid cutting a tiny cupcake, we decided to get a 6 inch cutting cake. But, I forgot to decide what it was going to look like.
Y’all probably don’t know this about me yet, but I’m a total fiber snob. Since textiles are my medium of choice, I swoon over silks, cottons, linens, and other natural fibers. My skin actually crawls when I just think about polyester. Blech. So… what does that have to do with cake?
I found these great cakes inspired by fabrics on Martha a while ago, and then they showed up in my email box today.

Weddingbee reader Anne L. kindly emailed me about this amazing sale going on in Pennsauken, New Jersey, this Saturday (Valentine’s Day!). The Goodwill location at 5461 Route 70 will be selling wedding gowns. Now, I know what you’re thinking, and these are not just any wedding gowns that women donated from their 1986 wedding (complete with puffy sleeves). Nope, the good people of Goodwill went door-to-door to area bridal stores asking for donations, and acquired modern gowns to sell to the public at very, very generous prices.
This article from 6abc.com says:
Used gowns will sell for about $50, while new designer sample gowns will cost up to $300. A Reem Acra New York that originally sold for about $1200 will cost $250 at the sale. A Jasmine Haute Couture gown that originally sold for about $900 will cost about $200 at the sale.
The store will also have tuxedos, flower girl dresses, and accessories at significant discounts.
Of course, a sale like this does not happen every day, so you might want to arrive before the doors open at 9 AM if you are hoping to get your hands on one of these bargains…. it’s worth a shot, as you never know what a great deal you may find!

How cool are these? They are designed by Kristine Baerlin of Figment Studio. She is so talented!
Wouldn’t these be super fun for wedding portraits or even bridal portraits for the reception? What a unique idea this is!

The prices start at $200. Check out her website here: Figment Studio.

I dreaded even talking to a florist, because I assumed that anything and everything that I might want to do would be well outside of our budget. I’m not a huge floral person, but I love weddings that have a lush floral element throughout.
Since we’re getting married in Oak Park, IL (a small suburb/village boarding Chicago), we’ve wanted to use as many local vendors as possible. I absolutely love the florist we’ve found. Working with Carolynn of fleurLily Chic has been a great experience so far. She completely understands where our budget is and what our limitations are, but that I still want some “wowable” flowers that will be remembered.
The most important thing I’ve learned is that it’s important when it comes to flowers to put your money where it counts. Having amazing floral centerpieces is great, but years down the road, are you going to be starting at pictures of your centerpieces, or pictures of you holding your bouquet? As long as you integrate personal details into the reception, the lack of flowers won’t create a big gaping hole.
I think my biggest reservation about flowers stemmed (no pun intended!) from not even knowing what to budget for flowers. I couldn’t really find a good guide online, and since pricing ultimately depends on the stems you choose, how’s a girl supposed to plan for this?
Fortunately I had a really good conversation with my florist, and I thought it would be helpful to share what I learned.
Alright, I realize I should have posted this last week, but for all of you Valentine’s Day procrastinators, here are some eco-friendly options.
First, I know that roses are the traditional Valentine’s Day flower. But they are totally out of season. Instead, ask your beau for some anemones, daffodils, and in some areas, tulips. They are a cheerful way to celebrate in-season flowers. I highly recommend checking out California Organic Flowers.
But if you have your heart set on roses, check out Organic Bouquet. They grow most of their flowers in South America, but they are a socially responsible business, and I believe they purchase carbon offsets to make up for the flight to North America. Plus, you can still order from them today to get flowers tomorrow!! These majestic roses are gorgeous!

I really do. I started dreaming about cake stands after I saw this one on Mrs. Penguin’s blog. Le swoon:

I let my mind wander to the cake buffet idea and decided to seek out cake stands to share with you all. I bake all the time so I can easily justify cake stands as wedding/life purchases. I can’t really purchase any cake stands in England because I worry about their fragility in transit. So I’ll just share my daydreams with the hive.
