Today’s wiki is Day of Coordinator. I remember when I first got engaged, I would ask former brides what their best decision was that they made in regards to their wedding day. 4 out of 5 girls would say that they were so glad that they hired a Day of Coordinator! Of course, being the cheapo that I am, we didn’t end up hiring one, and I wish we did!
What are some of your tips for hiring a Day of Coordinator (DOC)? What should you look for and what should you avoid? What does a DOC typically do for your wedding day? What are the pros and cons of hiring one? Share with us your tips and knowledge of the DOC service with us in the wiki:

Now that I’ve shared my engagement story, it’s time to see the bling! I’ve been engaged for over two years and have never really taken pictures of my ring. I know nothing about photography and didn’t know how to photograph my ring without it looking like a huge white blur, until Mrs. Avocado and Anne Ruthmann’s tutorials came along! And I kind of cheated, I had a friend who had already taken some beautiful ring shots of her own come over and help me! We didn’t use a tripod or any special equipment, just a pashmina and my roommate’s desk lamp! Someday Mr. Kitten and I want to buy a real camera, but here is what I came up with using my handy digital camera!
For some couples, choosing a first dance song is easy. They’ve always had “their song” and so their search for the appropriate song lasts about five minutes. For Mr. Dragon and I, this particular search was not so easy. Our favorite songs were either totally wedding-inappropriate OR they were TOO emotionally meaningful to us. I do not want to be crying all over the dance floor - I am kind of private about some things (shocking, I know). Over the course of several months, we went back and forth, trying to find something that felt right. Well, we finally found something that feels perfect! I am not going to share the song because… I have to keep some things a surprise!!
In the course of our search, however, we found several songs that might be fantastic at YOUR wedding! So, without further ado… great first dance songs not-for-Snapdragons.
So Small - Carrie Underwood
This is the song we didn’t choose because I would be sobbing the whole way through! There is “pretty cry” and “ugly cry.” This is my ugly cry song, so NO GO!

I’ve had plans early on to have a damask wedding. But can you believe all of the different damask patterns out there?! Insanity. Damask means so many different things, from very floral patterns to more graphic ones.
I’ve flip flopped all over the place on what pattern was really for us, and have finally landed on the fabric that I had chosen from the very, very beginning.
Don’t tell my wedding shoes, but I think I’ve fallen in love with someone — er, something — else:

Last week I found myself in a conversation about brides that get their drink on. I heard a few stories about brides being hung over after the rehearsal dinner and having a horrible wedding day, or worse—getting too drunk at the reception to even enjoy it.
This got me seriously thinking about a wedding weekend drinking game plan. I shamefully have to admit that I got a bit too tipsy at our engagement party, to the point that I totally embarrassed myself. I claim that I was just so stressed out about the whole thing and that Mr. Peep wasn’t around too check in on me (too many people to talk to lead to no time to talk to each other), but that’s neither here nor there. I got out of control.
Back in the day, you could easily classify me as a party girl. Not a clubbing girl or a drunk, but a girl who just loved to go out and have a great time. I have to admit that being with Mr. Peep has reduced my partying ways (which is a very good thing), but sometimes when we go out, the old party girl comes out, and I still think I can hang with the best of them.
For the past several weeks I’ve been sitting on our pro-pics and stewing. I’ve been having an exceptionally difficult time figuring out how to begin sorting through the over TWO THOUSAND images sent to me by Nicole Tavenner of Piknik Studios to find the choice few to share with you.
After several revisions and one massive dump into Flickr (which I will share with you after I am done with recap posts so you can see the rest of the photos), I think I have finally narrowed down the best photos enough to begin with my “Official” Weddingbee recap. As a forewarning, each of the following recap posts will probably contain 15-30 photos. I figure that I’d better err on the heavy side rather than risk tossing out any favorites or destroying the story.
For this recap, I’ve decided that the best place to begin was the beginning, and with a bit of a narrative tone. Let’s allow the balmy day of our reception, Friday, September 5, 2008, to set the stage and provide some atmosphere…
Join me on the way to Polebridge, Montana. We’re headed to the edge of the mountains…

Step 3: Creating our envelopes
We decided a few weeks before the project that we wanted to use recycled paper envelopes and bought them in brown kraft. Of course, being obsessed with design, I couldn’t just use a plain envelope so we decided to stamp a similar flourish design on the outside of the envelopes. The original plan was to emboss this flourish too, but after seeing the lighter color stamp on the brown recycled paper we decided it was more natural, more us, and more in line with our theme.

(envelopes with the embossing - the picture makes these look great but in person they were much better with just the stamp)
Some of my favorite parts of a wedding are all the paper goods. There is a lot of paper involved in a wedding: save the dates, invitations, programs, escort cards, guestbook, signs, photo collecting cards, and so much more. I love it all! Mr. Ducky and I are going to be DIYing all our paper for the wedding, so we have a lot of work ahead, but I am excited to see what we come up with.
I’m starting to collect the images and styles I like. We don’t have a cohesive look that we are going for yet, but hopefully as we continue to find what we like, something will stand out. I thought I would share with you a few of the invitations/save the dates that I have loved so far:
From Style Me Pretty are invitations from Posh Paperie. I love the save the dates in particular and how everything looks put together with the green bow.
Many of you suggested I post in Etsy’s alchemy section to see if I could find an artist to create those elusive feather fans I was looking for. Then I found this photo on Project Wedding:

Not only do I think it is completely adorable, I also love the little posy on the side. It’s a fan I could really see gifting to my girls.
Congratulations to the winner Indie B!

This might seem like an unlikely prize to give away on a wedding website, but because I own a FURminator myself and absolutely love it, I couldn’t resist! The furminator is simply the best deshedding tool for dogs and cats. It’s a must have if you’re moving in with your fiance or husband who has a hairy pet, or if you’re the one with the hairy pet! Check out this recent feature on the Martha Stewart Show to see how well it works!
We’re giving away the following FURminator prize pack: a deShedding tool (your choice of size), deShedding Shampoo, deShedding Solution, Waterless deShedding Shampoo and Conditioner, and deShedding Dog Treat.
To enter, please tell us what kind of pet you have in the comments section. You have until 9pm PST tonight to enter. Good luck! ![]()
I’ve heard that statistic many times. Women either wear bras that are too big, too small, or too worn out. I’ve never had my bra size measured and I’d been wanting to go to one of the specialty bra shops in New York, because I knew I was wearing the wrong size.
Many brides go to Bra Tenders (like Mrs. Canary) because they specialize in theater and bridal undergarments, but I made an appointment for Linda’s Bra Salon because I was looking for everyday bras. Lately I’d been wearing a 34C and with various brands, they were either too big or too small. But after my attendant Chloe measured me, she brought me a 32E bra.
What?! E sounds completely insane, but miraculously it fit perfectly! I swear I’m not that big… maybe it’s just because I’m petite or a hard to fit size — I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a 32E at Victoria’s Secret! It’s also hard to find strapless bras that don’t give your boobs a funky shape (I’d been on the quest for one my entire life), but Chloe found me one that fit perfectly.
Linda’s only carries the Le Mystere Bridal Bustier (almost universally flattering and what I wore at my own wedding) as far as bridal wear, so I’d recommend a place like Bra Tenders which has a larger selection of speciality bras if you’re looking for a bustier. But I’d highly recommend Linda’s for everyday and strapless bras!
Some bra tips from my attendant Chloe:

… But I’m stuck with them for now. My eyes can only take a couple hours of contact wear before drying out. Then the excessive blinking begins. Unfortunately, my corneas are irregularly shaped (I have a mild form of keratoconus), thus, disqualifying me for LASIK and PRK, aka LASIK without the flap. While there are several contact brands available specifically catered towards dry eyes, only a limited number offer the toric lens in my power.
I rarely wear contacts during the week, but when I do, 2-3 people always comment, “You look different today.” Hmmm, does it make that much of a difference? The glasses I don’t mind so much, especially since they cover up the bags and the occasional zit that pops up in between the brows, but I won’t be wearing them come wedding day! In the meantime, I’m using artificial tears pretty consistently and will be heavily lubricating my eyes the week of the wedding per my doc’s recommendation.
I normally use the Systane preservative free drops. My doc just gave me a sample of Systane Ultra to use when not wearing contacts.
