I love seeing children in weddings. As if they aren’t cute enough, seeing little girls all dolled up in fancy flower girl dresses and ring bearers looking more like little men in their tuxedos is absolutely adorable. However, what I’m hoping I don’t see at the Deviled Egg wedding is any of this:

A crier and a quitter Source

As you may recall, I had amazing guests and games at my bridal shower this past weekend. However, I didn’t tell you about the other two G’s: grub and gifts!
For as long as I can remember, sister Spring Roll and I have loved to bake and cook. We even took a cooking class together in high school. How does that relate to my shower, you ask? Well, we spent the night before and the morning of my bridal shower in the kitchen. Gladly so, as the guests really enjoyed the food.

Since I’m not British, I don’t know if I’m really qualified to broach this subject, but it is a fun one! As you may have seen in movies like Four Weddings and a Funeral, ladies can really rock hats and fascinators at English weddings.

The easiest way to encourage ladies to wear hats is to put in on the invite. Since we’ve kind of missed the boat on the invites, we’ll probably make a mention of it on our website. The other part holding us back? I’m not sure if my mother will be wearing a hat, and traditional etiquette is guided by the bride’s mother.

For the right bride, this would be the most amazing bouquet!

I admit it. I DVR Martha Stewart because I love watching her make things and grill her guests. Even though I subscribe to MS Living, I still like seeing the action live and she often provides better tips on television than what’s printed in the magazine. And I have to say that I feel like I’ve got more of an insider’s perspective after attending the show with a few bees in September.
Yesterday, while watching one the recent episodes, Martha invited one of her staffers, Morgan Levine, to show off her crepe flower making skills. I’ll be honest, I’ve seen crepe flowers before and have never been very impressed, but WOW these were amazing.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Both Mr Breezy and I were descending upon the lobby at the same time but somehow our photographers coordinated it so I stealthily made it upstairs while he remained downstairs.
And then, the big moment had finally come!
At least, it was a big moment for me. I think that Mr Breezy largely humored me when it came to “the big reveal”. He knew it was important to me so he went along with it, though if he had had an option, I think he would have forgone the whole hullabaloo. I appreciate his honesty. Really, I do. But I wouldn’t have had it any differently. Sometimes I find, you have to make something special in order for it to be something special.

Are you ready for a glimpse into the save-the-dates that kept me up for many a night? I am so excited to share them with you but must wait until everyone gets theirs before I share.

So for now, here’s just a tease… ![]()

Lately, I have become acutely aware that sometimes when I am out in public, I look down at my engagement ring and it gives me an air of confidence. Not because I am necessarily thinking, “This was given to me by the man I love.” Let me clarify. The ring and the ring’s presence on my finger has been known to make me feel different, and sometimes better, about myself.
This is difficult for me to admit because it sounds so… well… shallow and materialistic. What kind of woman would feel better about herself because of a ring? Me, apparently.

The color palette of your wedding is a big decision. The colors you choose will be what you see on a daily basis through your planning process, a part of the photos that are captured that day and will set the mood and tone of your wedding. (Not to sound dramatic or anything.) But it really does seem like an important choice! We are trying to make the final decision on what colors we want to use (at least to start). Mr. Ducky is doing the graphic design for our monogram, stationery, website, and other fun details… so I need to pick the colors and we can start that process. However, there is the small problem of him being slightly colorblind. He can tell basic colors, but distinguishing between similar shades or colors can be difficult. (Such as the time he got me an orange gift thinking it was pink!) Therefore, I hope to get your feedback on this decision!
I first discovered Colourlovers a while ago, but just decided to try to create my own color palette. Here is what I am thinking so far:

Our color palette
Today’s wiki is boudoir pictures. Several bees including Mrs. Onion, Mrs. Cherry Pie, Mrs. Hydrangea, and Mrs. Pomegranate have taken professional boudoir pictures as a gift to their husbands. There has even been a DIY boudoir session by the crafty Mrs. Candy Corn! A typical time to give an album of boudoir pictures to your husband is on the morning of the wedding, or right after the wedding. Boudoir photos are not always taken in the nude, but more often than not, the illusion of nudity is suggested. I didn’t take boudoir pictures, so I’m hoping the hive can contribute their expertise to the subject!
What are some great locations to take boudoir pictures? Where can you go to find attire and props for your session? What are some ways to help you get comfortable in front of the camera in the buff (or semi-buff)? Do you have any tips to share from your own boudoir shoot? If you have suggestions, share them with us in the wiki!
If you’re unsure how you can contribute to the wiki, take a peek at this wiki article on how to edit a wiki. Check it out and share your expertise!
I looked high and low, but I guess I was just being picky. I either didn’t like the style, didn’t like the price, or they didn’t have the colors I wanted. Honestly, I was being cheap. I didn’t want to spend $$ on a cardigan that I might not wear again. And the ones I liked, that I would most likely wear again and again, were well over $60 (thanks J.Crew for the tease!).
While on the cardigan hunt, I came across these cute tops at 579. Don’t they kind of remind you of these? They had them in white, purple and black. The best part was that they were only $15!
excuse the poor cell phone camera
If they had other colors, I might have gone this route, but instead, I went the funky cardigan direction.

I may have downplayed my borderline psychotic behavior during the hunt for the Amsale Bali. Allow me to share. ![]()

Gmail > Open Documents > Piglets Wedding Budget Spreadsheet *tap*tap*tap*. My restless fingers began typing away, reallocating funds to offset the pending purchase of the Amsale Bali. I was stoked. Saks was offering the dress at nearly 20% off. At the time, I convinced myself that this was a steal. We had until Saturday to make a decision (we, being Piglet and sista, since I’m incapable of making a decision on my own). Thursday passed… Friday… Saturday… (hmmm open spreadsheet)…
Sunday. No dress. Couldn’t do it. Damnit Pig! Weak sauce.

Snippets of lyrics from Tim McGraw’s song:
They say not to have too much fun
They say not to get too much sun
Democrat, Republican
I guess I’m screwed, I’m neither one
Don’t say ’hell’, say ’what the heck’
Do what’s politically correct
Don’t pray in school, but have safe sex
Isn’t that what they expect?…Well I wonder if they’ve got a life
A broken car and two ex-wives
Do they drink beer on Friday night
I wonder if they like to fight
And I wonder if they’ve got a soul
Or if they like their rock-and-roll
Where do they live, I’ve got to know
So I can tell them off
Or where to goWho are they?
Yeah you know what they say
Who are they?
Someone I gotta pay
Who are they?
And I don’t care anyway
Who are they?
So who, exactly, are “they”? I see so many posts on the boards asking if it is it okay to do this or that — and it’s completely legitimate – I, too, have asked myself some of those same questions.

I’ve made penguins like this at least a few dozen times now and they’re pretty fun to make. I also had a whole flock of them on my own wedding cake. Today’s set is the largest so far. I made them for someone who requested penguins of a certain height.
These penguins are easy if you want to make a set for yourself.
