Mrs. Ballet Flat's Picture
Mrs. Ballet Flat, New Orleans Age and Occupation: 24, Geographic Information Systems Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, IT Analyst Engagement Date: March 16, 2008 Wedding Date: May, 2009 Blogging Since: September 25, 2008 Venue: St. Charles Borromeo Church/Jefferson-Orleans North About Me: I absolutely love wedding planning, spending time with Mr. Ballet Flat, various crafts, watching football, baking, pop music, bargain hunting and ice cream. My idea of a great date night is dinner and clearance shopping with Mr. Ballet Flat! I currently live below sea level in the suburbs near New Orleans, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with anything New Orleans related for our wedding, and I can't wait for the big day!
About Mrs. Ballet Flat

There have been some things that I’m noticing in my weight loss journey that I really take for granted on a day-to-day basis. I’ve lost almost 20 lbs. so far and 9.25 inches off my body (which is SUPER cool), but besides the obvious, here are two BIG things that I’m watching change pretty quickly!

The biggest thing is my engagement ring. That sucker no longer fits. It will fly off of my finger very easily, and well, we can’t let that happen. I was thinking of just wrapping tape around the band on the palm side to make it smaller, but I discovered Ring Snuggies at Wal-Mart and I’m in LOVE!

Some Surprises Along the Way! : wedding fitness new orleans rings Ring ring

Obviously, that’s not my ring, but you get the picture. These little temporary soft plastic inserts take in your ring down a whole size, and right now, even that’s a little loose on me. It’s crazy how I’ve gone down a whole ring size in a little under 20 lbs. lost so far!

Another thing I noticed was at DSW.

I went shoe shopping for some new ballet flats (which I wear everyday to work… hehe). I’m usually a 9.5/10 shoe size and two different brands of shoes fit me in a size 9! I never thought my feet looked fat, but obviously, there was some blubber hiding in my feet! So weird!!

Have any of you brides noticed any surprises in your weight loss journey that weren’t scale or tape measurement related?

I have the ring snuggies, too! I have noticed that my ring isn’t as tight, but while I’m sure my slight weight loss is part of the reason, the cold weather makes my fingers shrink. I wear the snuggie if I’m going to be out in the cold or need to wear gloves. They work very well!

Oh, there’s definitely fat pads on your feet, so when I dropped a ton of weight in high school, I went from a size 10 to a size 8…in shoes.

With as much weight as you’ve lost, you’re going to need to get measured for a new bra, too–partly from fat reduction on your front, but mostly from fat reduction on your back.

Congratulations!!

Oh Ms. Ballet Flats! That is amazing! Congratulations on the weight loss! More importantly, I think it’s amazing that you are using your wedding as an excuse to live a healthier lifestyle. That in the end is what’s important.

Congrats on the 20!! Woo! I am still trying to loose and it has been going so slow! I totally thought the shoe size thing was weird too. My friend lost tons of weight and all of a sudden we didn’t wear the same shoe size anymore her feet shrunk!! I had no idea these things happen!

Great Job. I to am a dieting bride and my wedding band which we got last April no longer fits and falls right off. I was joking with my mom about how there were a million and one other places i would have loved to lose some weight before i ever mentioned my ring finger.

I too have noticed the shoe thing! I can wear socks inside some of my shoes now (they’re huge!) I’m also worried that I’ll have gone down a ring size, I hope my fat fingers will save me LOL!

Okay…maybe I haven’t read your blog before so you might have already mentioned this, but what is your weight loss program? I am dying to know.

That’s awesome!
Are you going to get your ring resized? My FH got my ring initially a little too big, so we took it down a half size. It was done in a day and now fits perfectly!
Keep up the good work!

I have lost about 9″ overall and the samething my ring will just spin on my finger and slip off at night…I had to be the plastic ring guards also just to make sure that nothing happens to my ring.

I wish I had known about those!! I lost my college ring a few weeks ago b/c my fingers have shrunk and it literally must have slipped off somewhere :-( I have been EXTRA careful with my engagement ring since them, I don’t want to get it resized until I’m sure what size I’ll need!
