This Duckling is In Recovery

March 2nd, 2009 @ 11:01 am by Mrs. Duckling

Hello Hive!

First of all, thank you so much for the outpouring of well wishes, good thoughts and prayers on my post on Friday. It meant so much to be able to read each of your comments over the last few days. It was comforting to know that others have had similar medical issues and gotten through it all. And we have so many medical bees! It’s kind of fun to know that you could have almost any sort of problem in the world and you probably have someone in the hive who can be a wonderful source of information!

The surgery went well and they were able to do the whole procedure successfully through laparascopy without making a big incision. The cyst was taken out and they also discovered the beginning stages of endometriosis which they removed as well. The staff at the hospital was so friendly and I felt so comfortable and well taken care of throughout the experience.

I awoke after the surgery to Mr. Ducky and my parents who were able to take me home after not too long. Recovery has been going well so far. I’m just trying to take it easy since it is still pretty painful to move around too much. Mr. Ducky has been the best nurse and has been taking excellent care of me, along with my family. Little brother Duckling even came home from college to see me. So, it’s also been nice to get some quality time with everyone even if I have been on painkillers and a little loopy.

Thanks again for all the support and encouragement! I will keep you guys updated as we get more results and meet with doctors in the coming weeks. As I recover, I’m sure I’ll be catching up on all the activity I’ve missed in the hive and blog world over the last few days. Anything a “must read?”

Here is a picture I saw on EAD that cheered me up and made me smile today.

Have I told you all how much I love dogs? Especially Labrador Retrievers? I’m trying to convince Mr. Ducky that after we get married we have to get a puppy before he goes on his first business trip. We aren’t sure what kind of dog to get since it needs to be smaller, but I’m already looking!

I am glad that you are doing so well.. You must keep us updated! I love the picture for the puppy! He is so cute! I like his collar… Maybe I should do something like that for our boys!

Hope you get back to 100% soon!

So glad to hear that you’re doing well! Fingers are crossed that this surgery took care of things for you.

Mr. S and I desperately want a puppy (not sure our 2 cats feel the same way) but we’re waiting until after the wedding to see if we can take that on ;)

Awww, glad to hear you’re resting up and healing well — and that Mr. Ducky’s taking such good care of you!

Mr. MagPie’s a dog person as well — I’m more a cat-lover — and goes to mush every time he sees a cute one (even a picture!).

Great to hear that things went well!! :)

I have a yellow lab (well my parents do) and I wish Mr. BF and I had a yard big enough to get a lab for us, but we don’t. I do want a dog soon though!

I’m glad you’re ok. I don’t write much on the blog but read it religiously. Your entry was very moving to me but… Your spirit shined through your writings. You’re going to be just fine and can’t wait to read what you have up your sleeve next!

Glad to here you are recovering well, I’ve had family go through similar problems. I saw that pic of the doggy and I thought it was so adorable. You need to look at maltese as a breed my cousin has one and he is so adorable. I also have a soft spot for labs because we had one growing up. Now I wish we could have a puppy now. Boo

I’m glad to hear you are feeling better Miss Ducky. Dogs are a awesome way to help reduce stress, having my puppy helped me through some tough times.

I’m going in on Thursday for my surgery and I went to the library and picked up The Time Travelers Wife for my recovery,…well I’ve already started it and can’t put it down! If you havn’t read it yet I highly recommend it. As a bookworm I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put a good book review out there. Take all the time you need to recover, going back to work too early stinks!

Hope you have a very speedy recovery! I had the same surgery (laparoscopy for cyst & endometriosis) last spring. Also, this is so strange, but I think my fiance may have the blood disorder that you mentioned. Feel free to PM me if you need any info or support…I know it’s not an easy thing to go through! But as you said it is a gift in the sense that you get to slow down, appreciate the people who love you, and realize what really matters. Glad you are on the road to recovery and please take it easy as you’ll take a few weeks to go completely back to normal. Best wishes…

Golden Retrievers and labrador retrievers are my favorites! I dog-sit a labrador retriever and she is so friendly but not too attention seeking like strait labs are! I’ve been trying to get my FI to consider getting one after we get married, but he says he would like to start with something smaller. :(

1.) I’m glad you’re well and recovering!
2.) You’re lucky to have a fiance who’s a good caretaker!
3.) That bouquet in the picture you posted is dreamy. And the dog’s adorable, too. :)

Glad to hear you are doing well. Endometriosis is no fun at all, I had it two years ago and they thought I had it again last year but the actual cause of my new symptoms eludes them. Hopefully there isn’t anything else that they find wrong with you.
