About Mrs. Stiletto

Does the list of things to buy for a wedding ever end? It seems like for every 1 thing I check off of our list, 3 more things get added on.

I’ve had my mind on so many of the big picture items for the reception, But I haven’t been thinking about a lot of the little details. Do I need toasting flutes?

As I do with almost all of our other wedding decisions, I turned to Etsy this morning to help me decide. If I find something I love on Etsy, my decision is usually made for me as to whether or not it’s a necessity.

I love these flutes with this fabulous swirl pattern and Swarovski crystals - only $25 for the pair from Etsy’s Delightful Finds.

Or, what about this set of toasting flutes and cake knife and server for $45 from Etsy’s Twisted for Joy? It looks like we could have the beading custom done to match our colors… and it would also solve the pesky problem of not having to find a cake knife and server. Because, heaven forbid we don’t have something special for the 30 blissful seconds we will have of cutting our cake and then smearing it all over each other’s faces.

Oh, decisions, decisions. When will the madness end? Oh, that’s right… September 20th…when we’re sitting on a beach in Aruba!

I am all about memories and keepsakes so thats why I am going to have toasting glasses….I love the Jubilee Lennox toasting flutes.

We have them on our registry and I have a feeling that we will be buying them for the wedding.

I love Etsy for everything and anything you can find.

I love the swirl flutes that you have found!! They are so pretty

“Because, heaven forbid we don’t have something special for the 30 blissful seconds we will have of cutting our cake and then smearing it all over each other’s faces.”

This is how I feel about most of the “little” stuff going on about this wedding! WHY.. WHY Does it have to be this way and WHY does it have to COST me so much money!!!! UGH!! 469 days to go. The sooner I am finished the better.

But I love the first set of glasses.. I will have glass just cause I like them and would love to keep them around.

So cute! I think we’re opting out of the cake cutting things, but I love champagne so I’m seriously considering toasting flutes. I like the idea of using them on our anniversaries.

Those are both so beautiful! I am a big fan of the first ones, because as said above, I think I would use them again.

You just made me think about this! I hadn’t thought of it! But now that I am…I think we’ll use some flutes that were given to us as a little impromptu engagement gift with a bottle of Champers! Thanks for the reminder! The ones you posted are cute. :)

I was gifted a beautiful set of toasting glasses so we will be all set.

BUT a neighbor of mine back home decided to forgo toasting glasses and just to use the plastic ones that the venue offered. And they broke while they were toasting. Yeah…. so if you decide not to, please make sure that the glasses are all one piece (ie not a seperate top and bottom) and that you don’t toast too hard!

My vote: Leave em!

We didn’t have toasting flutes and no one missed them. I bought some reasonably priced crystal champagne glasses beforehand with the intent of using them, but we decided that bringing them along was too much and that they would probably be lost or broken. At least with our other glassware (mason jars, etc), we didn’t mind some breakage…

I say if you are likely to use them again go for it otherwise does it matter. Maybe there is a family member you can borrow their serving set from. I am not going to engrave mine so it can be used for any occasion.

I love the idea of toasting flutes. I’m not so big on the cake cutters. My parents still have their flutes from 35 years ago and drink from them every year on their anniversary, however they do not cut a cake. And that’s how I’ve convinced myself into buying cute flutes and just borrowing cutters. Although, those from Twisted for Joy look casual enough to use on birthday cakes and pies anytime. So i guess I’m no help at all huh?

I’m going to say leave em as well. If I want them to be special during the reception, I might just tie a little ribbon around the base of our glasses.

The etsy finds are cute…but I say leave ‘em as well.

We’ll just use glasses the venue has for our toast as well as for the cake cutting (unless my mom finds her set from back in the day when she did wedding cakes)

Totally off the subject, buttttttttt………I don’t know if you have done it yet, but I’d love to see a post on your honeymoon plans! We are looking into Aruba too!

As for this post, I’m debating on whether or not to get toasting flutes as well, since neither of us are chamoagne drinkers it doesn’t mae sense, but since I am sentimental, I have considered getting a nice set as a future heirloom maybe? Kind of crazy….so we’ll see… Good luck with your decision. I personally like hte first set. Very fun and I love etsy.

I think they are cute!

But, I say leave them because I have seen many brides receive toasting flutes as shower gifts….

I LOVE the idea of creating heirlooms of every day items by using them in your wedding… but I don’t get that whole toasting flute thing. Not a huge deal. Those are pretty, but save the $45.

I mean…I saw some champagne flutes at TJMaxx the other day for like $7 each. Throw some sparkly ribbon on those bad boys and call it a day.

If you can find inexpensive one go for it. But I do like the idea- Like Ms. D’Orsaey says you can use them on anniversaries. Or fill them with self setting wax and make them into candles. I would pass on the cake knives .

I’m all about these items…I could not imagine my wedding without them. I got mine from fortunoff.com and they were a steal!! I love the first set of flutes you showed, they’re unique but I think really classy!!

I just bought a set of cobalt blue champagne glasses that match our wedding colors, and I can use them long after the wedding.

Personally I’m still torn… I don’t think they are necessary but the I imagine them sitting in my china cabinet next like my parents and I want them. So I don’t know what to tell you :-/

We purchased ours from Etsy also because I wanted to have them to toast for our anniversaries. We are skipping purchasing the cake cutting items but I had to have these.

We’ll be using my FMIL and FFIL’s toasting flutes. They are engraved with their names and wedding date, and then when my FSIL got married she used them and her and her husband’s names and wedding date are engraved in them too. We’ll be adding ours before the Big Day. I love that we’re creating an heirloom, and not having to buy something new! And i’m so glad that I like the idea, because I have a sneaky feeling that if I’d vetoed the offer it would have gone down veeeeery badly.

Could you maybe do something similar?

My parents got Mr. MagPie and me a set of flutes we’re going to have engraved — simple and classic. But, your selections are great too!

I would wait until after your shower- a lot of people give them as gifts. We got our toasting flutes and cake cutting set as engagement gifts but I have given toasting flutes as a shower gift and my mom almost always gives them as well if she knows the bride doesn’t have them yet. It’s def something you can wait on until closer to the wedding.

My fiance and I are big wine fans already, so we just plan on toasting with our own champagne flutes. No need to pay for something we’ll only use once when I already HAVE flutes that I love and will use again and again.

I love the second pair!
My FH and I were not about to drop some serious dough for glasses, so we found a pair of super cute “Pimp Cups” with Bride and Groom written on them…they are fun and silly, and sure to get a laugh.
We said we would pull them out when we’re 80 and tell our Grandkids about it. :)
Good luck with your decision!

i like the idea of having the toasting flutes as a keepsake that you whip out on special occasions. We’ll probably add it to our registry. The second pair of flutes is so unique! I don’t frequent etsy as much as I should…you definitely have some great finds!

I agree that it’s a ‘leave ‘em’ sort of thing. I mean, sure they’re cute, but beware of the slippery slope of spending way too much money on wedding-industry things. It’s amazing how much stuff will match or look so nice with your wedding–choose your battles. :) I liked the above poster’s idea about getting cheaper champagne flutes and fixing them up (if you’re set on having specialized ones).

I love that you always think to check etsy.com. I love that site but I don’t always remember to check it out. Thanks for always posting it. They really do have some great stuff for weddings at a much better price! :)

I think that if you register for some then somebody will most likely buy them for you for a bridal shower.

My mom made mine as an engagement gift. :) It was adorable.

I wondered why I got such a jump in traffic to my site on March 2 - and I finally figured out that it was due to your pic of my toasting flutes on your blog! What a nice surprise for me - Thanks so much for liking them and including the photo!
