Vendor Destiny

March 4th, 2009 @ 11:31 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

I just realized that while I have hinted at a few of our vendors, I have yet to properly introduce them.

First up, a vendor that I was destined to book: Huckleberry Karen Designs.

Why was this my destiny? These are little known Weddingbee facts, but my name is Karen, and my dog’s name is Huckleberry!! Seriously, no joke!! Everyone I’ve told has laughed at me about this one!

I have to admit, I didn’t really even look into any other florist, but why would I, with all of this ridiculously fabulous floral porn…

I love these feathers:

Seriously, I love this cake!!!

Again, I love these little swirly things!! We will totally be using these:

This bride not only used Huck Karen, but our photographer, Blueberry Photography, as well!!

Love, love, love these little place cards:

Perfectly modern and chic:

Does this bouquet look familiar???

Now does it?

Yep, not only did I have vendor destiny, but Huckleberry Karen also did Mrs. Pengy’s flowers! So exciting!

At the end of the day, name or not, Huck Karen’s prices are fantastic and her work speaks for itself. I am so excited to have such a perfect vendor doing our wedding flowers!

All the pictures were lovingly found on Huckleberry Karen’s blog.

Did you have an instant connection with a vendor??

Gorgeous flower pron! :D
We’ve been lucky in that we’ve clicked with ALL of our vendors. **knocks on wood**
I know it’s against the norm, but we’ve never looked around! Once we meet with someone we like/love we just book them! (Of course I read reviews, and I’ve made sure they’ve all worked at our venue before - it’s a tricky venue for sound & photos/lighting so that was WAY important to me)

Woohoo! I’m using Karen as my wedding florist too! She is so sweet and didn’t laugh when I came with a thousand floral inspiration pictures (well she laughed a little). I can’t wait to see her creations for my wedding!! Yay for bay area vendors!

I obsessed over my florist choice and bored my FI to tears with my spreadsheets and endless handwringing. But we had an instant connection with our DJ. I met with him and liked him right away, plus he responded enthusiastically to the slightly off-kilter playlist that my FI and I put together. I had a couple more DJ appointments lined up for the following week but canceled them. We’ve never looked back! (And I did find a florist I loved, btw!)

I am totally smitten with our photographer. Hes good, inexpensive, hilarious, and will go to just about the ends of the earth for you to make your wedding what you dream it to be. He came to my house last week to go over specifics, and we talked for almost 2 hours about my wedding planning journey, and he loves that I’ve been able to do all I have on a shoestring budget. can’t wait to work with him on our big day!

I have to say that our Florist we did click. There was so much that we had in common with her and her children.
I also clicked with our site coordinator yet unfortunately for us but good for her, she moved out of state to a better job for her and we remain friends.

I am taking her DIY flower workshop in San Francisco on 3/29. I am so excited! I first learned about her from Mrs. Penguin’s post. SF brides to be, please think about signing up for her workshop! She won’t do another until next fall, so that’s too late for us summer and fall Bay Area/Northern California brides.

That’s the cutest vendor connection ever!

Plus, that photo of the kale, carnation, orchid, and peony clusters rocks my world. Definitely stealing that for inspiration!

Ooooh those flowers are amazing! Loving the modern green flowers and plants!

I connected with my florist right away - she understodd our vision and I could tell she was passionate about her work. It was refreshing, especially after meeting with so many florists beforehand who didnt even know the names of flowers I had printed for them to use as examples! Sheesh!

My whole bouquet and in some ways entire wedding theme is inspired by fiddlehead ferns. Now that we’ve decided to DIY flowers I just hope I can get a hold of them when I need them.
