Mrs. Glitter's Picture
Mrs. Glitter, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Accounting Engagement Date: May 6, 2007 Wedding Date: June, 2009 Venue: Millenium Biltmore Hotel About Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.
About Mrs. Glitter

I love the gesture of a well written and thoughtful thank you note. It isn’t wedding time yet, and already I can’t wait to thank our wedding guests!

For a DIY infant such as myself (who doesn’t own a Gocco), paper products and crafting are somewhat of an enigma to me. I’m not attempting to make my own invitations, but maybe I can handle the thank you notes. Without many original ideas of my own at the moment, I turn to Martha Stewart for details on how to create my own thank yous.

Go crazy with an embosser and create these pretties.

My inner-preppy girl loves these repeated monogram cards. Try it out and give Crane a run for their money!

For all you advanced placement DIY bees, check out these cool ink-block cards. I got lost after Step 1, but that’s not saying much.

And, finally, my favorite - photo postcards! It seems like a project I can handle. Apparently, success lies in deckle-edge scissors? Once I figure out what those are, I’ll be golden. On a side note, I really love the family portrait postcard. I have never seen thank you cards that feature the entire family. Me likey.

It is important to note: Martha Stewart Weddings includes a “how to” section with each card project so you can teach yourself how to make these beautiful notes. Just click on the links I provided above and they should take you where you need to go.

Are you planning on making your own thank you cards? Feel free to share yours!

I think we will be doing some form of postcard either for our “we are moving” or for our thank you. Still have no idea I am struggling with our invites first lol!!

I hope to include some pics in our thank you’s I think people appreciate that! So I won’t be going with postcard thank yous (which we used for STDs) but instead I think a cool monogram card or something like that!

You can do it! I believe in your DIY skills. If you like the first one and embossing we could do a craft party in So Cal and I’ll bring the cuttlebug. :)

Those ink block cards are adorable. My grandfather used to make linoleum block prints, and my mother still uses them for Christmas card making sometimes. It would be so sweet to use something like that for the backdrop or envelope liner of an invite.

I’d like to know what deckle edge scissors are too?! I think that we will probably go for some sort of photo postcard for our Thank you notes, but i’ll proabably hold off on doing them until we come back from honeymoon!

deckle edge scissors are tiring!

you could get a paper slicer thingy and get the right blade that creates a similar edge by just pressing & sliding across! *wooooosh!*

lazy diy 101 :P

I LOVE the photo card idea for thank you notes, especially if you can include a nice picture of you and your fiance on it! And remember that Overnight Prints does a FABULOUS job on postcards for a very reasonable rate. Also, you can check out moo.com for a mixture of postcards also for not that much…just to give you some options.
