Hello hive! My name is Miss Mascara, and it’s lovely to meet all of you! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful world of Weddingbee!
A little about myself… I’m a 25 year old biomedical engineer living in the Chicago suburbs. I’m from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (that little part of the state above the mitten… yes, I am a Yooper) and I love everything related to weddings, crafts, and DIY projects.
Mr. Mascara and I have been together for over 7 years, and when he proposed in the middle of an English garden, of course I said yes!
We’re planning a rather large September wedding (about 325 people) in our hometown, with a rather tiny budget, and trying to infuse as much of our personalities into it as possible. Needless to say, there will be plenty of DIY projects to post about!
I can’t wait to share the rest of our wedding details with you! Thanks so much for allowing me to be part of the hive!

Wow, I can’t wait to hear how you’ll plan your big, hometown wedding! It’s great to learn about different kinds and sizes of weddings on a range of budgets! That garden is beautiful - is it actually in England, or is it an English-inspired garden in your hometown? Because it would make a beautiful backdrop for engagement or wedding photos!

My wedding will be about the same size, I’ve gotten so many jaw drops when I say how big my wedding will be, I’m glad someone else out there is planning a huge soiree too!

@ Miss Mascara- Congrats from a fellow Chicago area suburbanite. I’m running the Paavo Nurmi marathon in Hurley this August. You Yoopers are indeed a special bunch;)
@ racheljo- we’re date twins! Tell me if you know of good hotel deals that weekend. Turns out that’s the weekend of the Chicago marathon. Yikes!

Hooray for yoopers! I lived in the UP for 5 years when I was in college at NMU; I wish I could have stayed forever, but alas, jobs are few and far between up there 
Yay! I like you already! By the time FH and I get married we will have been together 6 and a half years and we’ll be having about the same size wedding with a small budget. I’m excited to see your DIY projects!

daisywu - Sadly, I don’t gocco, but only because I don’t own one! I considered buying one for awhile but since they are discontinuing most of the supplies I didn’t want to spend the money and not have any supplies to use with it!

Hello Miss Mascara!
Holy Wah! I found this via stumble, and i’m not the wedding type at all but i noticed you are a Yooper! That’s wonderful. I’m from outside Gladstone, so i’m much more of a “city kid” than someone from Iron Mountain. Still, we’re pretty resourceful people from up there.
I shall continue to monitor your progress because even though i moved to the Boston area 15 years ago and now live in NY, i like to see what my hometown/area people are up to. As soon as there are jobs back there, i’m moving back!
Good luck with your planning I predict the proposed decoration of that gym in a later post will proceed swimmingly!
Ahhhhh So excited to find this blog! I am getting married in Iron Mountain, in September AND I also went to school at MTU (just graduated in May)! I hope you wedding turns out beautifully! My friend had her reception at the armory and it was perfect for a large crowd!
