Bridesmaids Dresses

March 6th, 2009 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Mascara

While we were at David’s Bridal looking for my dress, we had some extra time to look at some bridesmaids dresses. Dani and Gaby (my sisters) found one that I think might have potential, and it comes in colors very close to our original color scheme.

Here are the dresses from the website. The purple one is a much prettier color in person (more plum, less royal purple).

Here are the dresses on my sisters. Keep in mind Gaby’s dress is about 5 sizes too big. I think it looks better with the bows tied in the back rather than on the side.

Here is a close-up of the colors. I think they’re really rich and will look great since we’re having a fall wedding, without being the standard reds, oranges, browns that most people use during the fall season.

I was originally going to let all the girls choose a dress style that they liked the best in the same color/fabric. Now I’m thinking it would be cool to do all three colors, and the girls could choose the color they prefer (as long as there was a mix of all of them, or at least 2 of them). Here’s an idea of what it might look like. Again, the purple on here is much different. Please forgive the cheesy virtual wedding photo!

The dresses are pretty reasonably priced, at $135 each, and would look good on a variety of shapes and sizes. They are definitely in the running for our wedding!

Are you opting to mix it up for your bridal party? What combinations of different colors do you think look nice?

I am using that dress for my ladies!!! They are all in black though. The girls LOVE them. Very flattering to different body types and in balck, something they will actually wear again. Love love love them.

I’m letting the bridesmaids choose any dress they want in shades of blue, but I have veto power. :) I think the three colors you have together will look fabulous!

These are great colors to pull through, especially for fall! Love it! I’m loving the blue.

A great way for everyone to feel a little bit of ownership over their dress as well by choosing a color. You might want to have some one-on-one conversations with the ladies about what color they might want before a big trip to the bridal salon to pick them out…things can turn ugly fast ;)

I agree with Mis Bruschetta, the colors are rich and will look great for a fall wedding!

I tend ot go for simple, we are just doing navy on the bridal party, but I always love seeing the color combinations other brides come up with. This is the first I have seen of this combinaiton and it looks great!

I love the colors. In Brazil, they let the bridesmaids pick their own dress and color.

I love the idea of different colored dresses!! I really wanted to do that for ours, but we ultimately decided it would be best for them to all wear the same color. If you buy your dress at DB, then they get $20 of their dresses, and if the guys side goes to MW Tux I think they get $30 off a tux. Once you buy your dress there, your eligible for a good bit of discounts. Love the virtual wedding BTW :)

Beautiful colors! I don’t love strapless dresses for younger girls though. It looks ok on your older sister but I’d have the younger one in something more age appropriate. That’s just my opinion though. Happy shopping!

@Jessica: My sister will be 14 and a freshman in HS by the time we get married. She only looks like she’s 10!
@MightySapphire:
I used the David’s Bridal “Dress Your Wedding” tool to get the virtual photo.

Love your idea to use all three colors! They go really well together and it’s so unique to have different colors for your BM dresses. I love it! I only have my MOH so it was easy, I told her to pick whatever dress she wanted some sort of red or purple.

I LOVE your color combo! Those three dresses look beautiful together, and so original- go for it! Very very chic! If I were you I would consider putting your flowergirl in a printed dress that incorporates all three colors. I think it’s better when the bride is the only one wearing white, so you can really stand out!!

I’m so excited that we have the EXACT same color palette!! I’ve not seen it in a wedding before, so I’m looking forward to seeing your plans!
