The Time of Our Lives: Cake Smash

March 8th, 2009 @ 3:15 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

Hello hive! Anybody remember me!? I’ve been loving all of the recaps lately, and thinking it’s about time I finished mine!

We left off with the power back on, the band keeping the dance floor packed, and the sun setting on our wedding day. With the night quickly drawing to a close, there were a few things we had to take care of.

*All photos, unless noted, by the fabulous Samantha Warren*

Here’s the cake that narrowly escaped the earlier hailstorm thanks to some quick-thinking guests:

It was definitely beautiful, but remembering just how yummy the inside was from our tasting, we had no problem cutting right into it.

Despite the evil look on Mr. Tiramisu’s face, I was 100% sure he wouldn’t smash cake on my face. My eyes in these pictures are reminding him of his promise to keep me a frosting-free bride!

What a trustworthy husband I have!

He’s also a really easy-going guy, so I knew he wouldn’t be too mad if I couldn’t resist decorating him with just a little frosting when it was my turn…

He wasn’t mad, I promise!

i showed mr.GT this post and he wants me to clarify that what mr.T got there definitely doesn’t qualifies as a cake smash compared to what he had to endure :)

your cake looks as amazing as your wedding, your face in that second to last pic is absolutely priceless!!

The cake is very pretty. Lovely picture but I personally think the bride could use a necklace. The con about strapless dress is it makes all the brides have the same upper body look in photographs, as if they wear the same dress. (when they all have the same bare necks and shoulders)

The delicate scrolls on your cake are so beautiful! They remind me of the design Sister Bruschetta had at her wedding. :-)

I just may hafta dab some frosting on Mr. Bruschetta’s nose. ;-)

Very cute! Thanks for posting.

*Anyone know the name of the dark blue flowers on the cake?

…I’ve just changed my accent color to teal-blue and am having a hard time finding teal and blue flowers that aren’t leaning to the purple side of blue, rather than the green. These ones seem pretty straight-up blue :)

Thanks for the response about the flowers!

I just looked through your entire wedding day recap (from “pre-game to “let there be light”) and I am blown away. You are a true inspiration and your story should be told to all the engaged ladies out there for decades and decades. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve gotten so far in the planning process was to make sure I have a great time… and that way my guests will too. It’s so simple, but so easy to NOT think about since our natural instinct is to make sure everyone else is happy and comfortable. You opitamize (sp?) this advice. You have really truly helped me so THANK YOU for sharing your story, your attitude, your humor… everything!!! I’m just not a fan of attention… so I’ve been pretty freaked out thinking about the big day, but now I feel so much better :)

@mixingmommybride: Thank you so much! My dress is Paloma Blanca, and the color is natural. You can read about it here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/03/27/without-fanfare-the-dress/

@gabbydancer: Yes, definitely rethink it if you can! We didn’t make a big announcement or force anyone to watch us, and it was a lot of fun!

@Mrs. Green Tea: Hehe I know, he got off very easy! :)

@Bridal Jewelry Fan: Sorry, but I’m going to have to respectfully disagree on this one… I didn’t want anything competing with the lace on the top of my gown, and I really like the simple look :)

@Ms. Lilac: They are hydrangeas! I really wanted dark blue flowers, and my florist had them imported from the Netherlands (which I had no idea about, and didn’t cost a lot somehow!). She used the same ones in my bouquet which I loved!

@Ms. Lilac: I think this is the sweetest comment I have ever received- you are far too kind and have just made my day-thank you! And trust me, once you are surrounded by all that love on your wedding day, you won’t be able to stop smiling either :)

The cake is very pretty, but…can we talk about Mr. Tiramisu’s suspenders! Totally awesome! Did he come up with that or did you?
