Mrs. Dumpling's Picture
Mrs. Dumpling, Las Vegas Age and Occupation: 27, Finance Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Real Estate Engagement Date: March, 2008 Wedding Date: March, 2009 Blogging Since: August 26, 2008 Venue: Catholic church ceremony & golf course reception About Me: I grew up in the Deep South, and while most people say I have a thick southern accent, I tend to think it only comes out when I need to use it. Living in Las Vegas has definitely been an adventure and Mr. Dumpling and I are loving every minute of it! We are planning a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony and a reception with lots of DIY! We might even get Elvis to show up! I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, love The Office and can't wait to become a Mrs.!

It’s Gettin’ Crazy

March 9th, 2009 @ 2:58 pm by Mrs. Dumpling

I’m going to write this as “I” instead of the usual “we”, because I am up to my ears in projects. Mr. Dumpling, on the other hand, has had his list of to-dos done for quite some time. I think the theme of this wedding (for me) should have been “Don’t waste money on DIY projects”, because I have really almost paid double for stuff that I could have just bought pre-made. The invitations were a disaster (that got fixed thanks to Wedding Paper Divas!), that pomander thing I tried to make, the place cards…. all things I should have just ordered from a professional.

Just to give you an update on how far behind I am, here’s a list of things that still need to get done:

  • Place Cards
  • Programs
  • Seating Charts
  • Table Numbers
  • Bridesmaids Gifts

I could have done them over the weekend, but my printer was acting crazy and, honestly, I’m so over this wedding. I just want to be married!!!!!!!

*LUCKILY* we have this awesome photography team who just emailed some pictures over of a recent wedding they did, and the eye candy took my mind off all the stuff I put off to the last minute. Let’s have a look…

Thanks, Josh and Kenny. You kids are just what a Dumpling needed.

Do you think it’s normal to have less than 2 weeks from the big day, but still have tons of stuff to do?

Smile Miss D! Before long we’ll be calling you MRS. and you’ll be like seating chart? What seating chart?
I also plan on doing a lot of DIYing the WEEK of the wedding. :) You are not alone!!

i think it’s absolutely fine to be fah-reaking out at this point. as someone who works better under stress, this is the point where I usually end up getting the best stuff done.
Keep in mind to give it a rest sometimes, and don’t be afraid to give up the DIY on something if you jusdt don’t think you can get it done in time!

i think it is normal…haha, especially if you are doing a lot on your own. my friend got married and she and her husband were working on last minute project until like 1am every night for the last week or so. not to scare you, but just to say that you aren’t the only one out there! just take it step by step, and try to find good-looking shortcuts that will save you time and sanity! having friends that like to do monotonous tasks also doesn’t hurt. =) good luck, you’ll be great!

You’re almost there. The problem is that most of those things are last minute… you can’t really do them too far in advance, but then the wedding date sort of creeps up on you!!
Good luck!
PS- Thanks for sharing the pics. My BM are in black, and my florist mentioned that she thought white flowers would look better than pink, but I love how the hot pink flowers pop in that picture (4th one down). I saved it to send to my florist! THANKS!

That’s why you have me… :^) Don’t you worry little miss.. We will have this taken care of in no time (well because we have NO time)! lol! j/k! Seriously, everything will be fine! As long as you are married by the end of the day, it won’t matter if uncle Billybob didn’t get a program, or Aunt Crazy didn’t like where she was sitting. It’s your day and it will be great!! :^D Great pics by those awesome Cohens btw! Gotta love em!

Oh Dumpling, I totally feel you on the DIY madness! I just decided to buy a bunch of stuff over the weekend–stuff I would have stressed over in the next month before my wedding! And the printer issues–I’m totally with you there! Mine doesn’t like printing on anything that isn’t 8.5×11, so I just bought a new one because I simply can’t deal with it!

Ahhhh…wedding porn.. :-)

I’m trying to get as much done now as I can because I have ALWAYS procrastinated and the one thing I don’t want is to be all stressed out before the wedding because I have too much to do! (I’m more afraid of stress related breakouts than the to-do part…)

At least your photog looks very talented. You can rest easy on that decision, I’m sure your photos will look amazing!

I had four of the five things left to do in the last two weeks before my wedding… just make sure to slave away before the wedding so that you have NOTHING to do the night before, I stayed up so late that night.

I’ve burned myself on DIY-gone-wrong too — and spent more than I needed to, to boot!

Hang in there, you’ll be married so soon!!!
