Mrs. Powder Puff, Chicago Age and Occupation: 25, Preschool Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Career Services Engagement Date: May, 2008 Wedding Date: July, 2009 Blogging Since: November 12, 2008 Venue: Outdoor ceremony, banquet hall reception About Me: I am your typical Midwestern girl attempting to plan a sane, budget-friendly, fun wedding to the man of my dreams. I love shoes, laughing at “Platinum Weddings”, crafts, inspiration boards, candy, and basically anything I can DIY. While weddings can certainly be all-consuming, I honestly can’t wait until the ceremony is over and I can finally call Mr. Powder Puff my husband!
About Mrs. Powder Puff

Have I ever mentioned to you all that I am a laaaazzzyyyy bride? Well, I am. And when it came to registering for gifts, I chose not to stray far from my roots.

Registering for the Lazy Set : wedding registry Wedding016 You may be wondering where Mr. Powder Puff is in this equation. Why am “I” registering for gifts and not “we”? Well, peeps, I hate to break it to you, but the mister was not all that thrilled by the thought of going to a store, wandering around for hours picking out the perfect salt shaker, and then walking out empty-handed. So, he left the task to me, but made sure to school me on “must haves” that I needed to add to the list.

This arrangement thrilled me at first!

Mr. Powder Puff can be a very twitchy shopper, which makes me all jumpy, and then I never end up getting what I need. With him bowing out I could be free to walk around the store at my own pace, to pick out the things I want, and to twirl in a field of flowers singing, “The Hills Are Alive!”

Well, maybe not that last one, but I was definitely looking forward to a day of indulgent semi-shopping. So I got myself over to the local Crate and Barrel and let the fun begin.
Registering for the Lazy Set : wedding registry 2007103 Or not. Oh believe me, there was some fun. Walking in the door was fun. Telling someone I wanted to register and getting that cool gun thingy was fun. The fun, however, ended when I knocked over an entire display of cupcake pans, making a huge ruckus. Yikes.

If fun wasn’t dead by that time, it definitely kicked the bucket after I wandered around the store for hours, feeling overwhelmed by the choices, and lost in a sea of linens and dishes.

What’s a girl to do? Hustle herself home and finish the process online, STAT!

Yes, I registered online and I am proud of it! It was easy, painless, and definitely embarrassment-free. I highly recommend it!

Any other lazy (or totally savvy!) online registry brides out there?

FH and I did our entire Target registry online :)

Mr. Bruschetta — who apparently is the antithesis of Mr. Powder Puff (SO excited to register and plan out his dream kitchen) — and I plan on refining our registries online, because it definitely is overwhelming and frustrating to try to do them all completely in-store.

One of the places we registered was Amazon. Some how registering online is so much less stressful!

haha miss power puff. I went to the crate & barrel on North Ave for their registry event. I spent a whopping 3.5 hours there and although there were a slew of other engaged couples when we started, my FI and I were the last ones out! I guess we were slow. :)

I couldn’t narrow it down to one (or two or three) store, and didn’t want to have a million registries. So, we used myregistry.com, which lets you aggregate products from all over. (anthropologie aprons; yes, please! organic pintuck duvet cover, h-to-the-yes!)

I began ordering online. Then I took my sister/MOH along with me to register for some store items. I know the mister would not have had fun with this task, so I took someone who would :)

We started out physically doing the registry at the store, then decided it was too hard and assumed the position on the couch with the laptop. So much better! :)

Oh Miss Powder Puff….we are similar in so many levels!

I, too, am a lazy bride to a degree. I’ll admit, I’ve done a lot of “tasks” online, throughout the planning process (some registering included!).

I also was sent to register at the last of our 3 stores alone…Mr. PG was a little restless and sick of spending his evenings doing registries. =)

online all the way! the other big benefit is that the online “stores” have more stuff than the real ones (stuff that might be sold out or not yet in).

We started in a real Sears and then I finished on the couch :) We ended up using myregistry.com because there’s not many stores in our small hometown and none of the ones that are there have registries. I think being able to combine shopping and my love of the couch is pretty much heaven :)

My fiance and I went to Kohl’s and did the wholy gun thing. When they went to upload it they “accidentally” erased the whole thing. Argh! Instead of going through this again I just went home and created it online myself. Very easy, like a secret nobody tells you. :)

@Lauren: Wow. Why have I not heard of that before?! You can’t imagine how often I’ve wished Anthropologie had a registry!

In-store was just way too overwhelming for me. It was so much easier to look online and pick the things that I wanted.

We (or should I say “I”) registered online… mainly because the nearest mall is 3+ hours away. It definitely seemed easier, although there are some items that are in stores that we would have liked to register for that they don’t carry online. It’s definitely an easy-breezy process!

Hey Miss Powder Puff! If it makes you feel any better I went to one of the Crate and Barrel Registering parties and broke my full champagne glass all over the floor! VERY embarrassing! The fiancee and I registered for a few items in store (he got bored quickly) and I’ve finished up the rest online!
Much easier and less overwhelming! I’m with ya’!

Online - so much easier to manage. We (I) went to the actual stores at some point after registering just to confirm that I liked what I chose. And I did!
