Bridesmaids Gifts: Part 2

March 11th, 2009 @ 11:46 am by Mrs. Stiletto

So, I’ve already posted about the lovely clutches I’m working on for the bridesmaids. After I started thinking about what little things I wanted to tuck inside of the clutches (beyond their jewelry), my mind immediately went to vintage handkerchiefs. Since the bridesmaids dresses have pockets, the girls can easily stash these hankies, to be pulled out **just in case** the tears of happiness start flowing.

I’d started my search on Etsy and was determined to get hankies with monograms for each girl… which proved to be a rather unsuccessful effort. If you’re willing to take the time and acquire these one by one, it’s completely possible. If you’re antsy like me and want to get it done all at once, you’re probably going to wind up empty handed.

Instead, I set my sights on finding 5 different hankies that I felt all went together in some shape or form, but were all different - kind of like my bridesmaids! Each is unique in her own way. I came across Etsy seller Kindred Thymes who had a great selection at fabulous prices. And, it’s a much better deal overall to buy these from the same seller, if possible.

Each and every one of these hankies is sweet and special, while also being crisp and snowy white.

So, last time I posted about bridesmaids gifts I had spent $41.29 for the clutch material, or $8.26 per bridesmaid. I was able to get all 5 hankies for $24.25 (including shipping), so that puts me at a total so far of $65.54 or $13.11 per bridesmaid! Woo hoo!

Please know that I’m not a super frugal or stingy bride because I’m tallying up the costs! I absolutely love giving presents and don’t automatically go to the price tag for things. However, multiplying everything by 5 quickly adds up, so I want to make sure I’m keeping tabs on things so I don’t let myself get completely out of control! Secondly, it’s rewarding knowing that I’m able to put together thoughtful, meaningful presents that aren’t about expensive price tags or trendy brand names, but rather reflect my relationship with these ladies and my appreciation for them being a part of our big day!

And, of course… who doesn’t love a bargain?! :)

Such sweet, delicate hankies! I most definitely could have used one during Sister Bruschetta and BIL Bruschetta’s ceremony — ugly cry with NO tissues really isn’t pretty. :-\

I don’t think you are being too frugal or stingy at all! I wanted to get all my girls a bunch of nice things-jewelry, clutch, wrap, lip gloss and a few other little things and I quickly discovered it was going to add up really fast, plus I was paying for their makeup and hair! I bought their wraps at Nimli and I ended up making their clutchs (similar design to yours) and I made their jewelry too. If you are looking to get something custom made for your girls, pm me and I could make the jewelry for your girls! I make jewelry for weddings and friends on the side and I’d love to work with you if you are interested. Depending on the type of jewelry you want (crystals, pearls, gemstones) the jewelry can be very inexpensive. A lot of the sets I’ve made (necklace, earrings & bracelet) average about $25 for the whole set!

That last one looks a lot like a hanky that was passed down to me from my mom (originally my great-grandmother’s!) I love it, so cute!!

That’s a rally cute idea. People like knowing the gift they got was customized/unique for them. My favorite hanky is the 3rd one - that flower is super cute!

5 sets of gifts DEFINITELY adds up! I’m all about a bargain. And as long as your gifts are thoughtful and cute (which they seem to be!), then I’m sure your maids will love them.

I love them!! I have 16 bridesmaids so budget is HUGE!!!! I already have clutches but I can’t help thinking of more things to add in. Bridesmaids put out SO much money-dress, shower, b.p., gift, hair, pedicure, and makeup. I feel like I should put out more but am torn with my budget.
