Mrs. Peep Toe's Picture
Mrs. Peep Toe, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 29, Policy Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 36, Olive Oil Production Manager Engagement Date: December 16, 2007 Wedding Date: May, 2009 Blogging Since: November 26, 2008 Venue: Hotel Vitale About Me: I am a west coast lady who loves the San Francisco Bay Area. I love living with Mr. Peep and our animals: Huck the Dog and Ferris the Cat. I work to save the environment in San Francisco, while Mr. Peep makes ridiculously delicious Olive Oil. On any day you can find me reading the latest book I have gotten my hands on, eating Swedish Fish, and perusing wedding blogs! We are both champagne drinking foodies on a Bud Light budget. We are planning an eco-chic, intimate, and interfaith San Francisco City wedding.
About Mrs. Peep Toe

With less than three months before the wedding, we finally have confirmation that we have a place for the rehearsal dinner!! In fact, it’s such an awesome venue that if I could rewind a year and re-pick our wedding venue, this is where we’d actually host the wedding reception (but don’t tell).

Our goal was to find something casual, fun, and within walking distance of the hotel. We decided early on that we’d invite all 60 guests, because 55 of them are from out of town. Unfortunately, everything by our hotel is pretty pricey and formal, so we had a really tough time finding something casual where we could all fit.

The first place we looked into was Epic Roasthouse. Originally we checked it out for the wedding. The view is breathtaking, and it was a fantastic second choice, but nothing about it was casual, and it was a bit pricey. The scariest part is that drinks are per consumption, so we’d have no idea how much the whole thing would cost until the end of the night. I realize this is common for a wedding, but we wanted no surprises!!

Next, we went super casual and looked into hosting a box or a space at Giants Stadium. But surprisingly, this would have been the most expensive option. A private room during a ballgame at AT&T Park is uber expensive, and we couldn’t have fit all of our guests in a box (or two).

For about two seconds we looked into La Mar, which is right down the street from where Mrs. Pinot Noir had her rehearsal dinner. It’s the hot new restaurant that specializes in seafood with Peruvian flair. Mr. PT, well, he basically wouldn’t eat any of the seafood on the menu. And without the seafood, what’s the point of a seafood restaurant?

After looking into everything within walking distance, we finally realized that we needed to expand our search. Yet, we didn’t want to expand too far- this is a big city and I didn’t want to open up a can of worms. Somehow in a conversation with Mr. Peep’s Dad he brought up a couple more potential options: Lulu Bis and Coco500, which both happened to be closer to our cheaper hotel option.

We spent a night having bites to eat at both places, but we both knew that as soon as we walked into Coco500 we had found the place.

There is no view like Epic. It’s not as fun and casual as the ballpark, nor is it as close as La Mar. But, we get to rent out the entire restaurant. And the vibe screams San Francisco modern and casual all at once. And did I mention that they serve local organic food?? Perfect!!

For one flat rate, we get the restaurant to ourselves for the entire night, a cocktail hour with four signature cocktails (seriously, we aren’t even serving cocktails at the wedding!), passed hors d’oeuvres, and a three course dinner with wine pairing!! I think now I might be more excited for the rehearsal dinner so we can feast on these: Green Beans fried in Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. YUM!!!

How did you choose where you’ll have your rehearsal dinner? How close to the wedding date did you book it??

I was so jealous when I read the title of your post b/c FH and I currently looking for our rehearsal dinner space and finding it about as hard as finding our wedding venue. Now I’m uber jealous because your space looks just like what we had wanted - LUCKY!

Mmmm…I love COCO500. The fried green beans are to die for! What a great venue for a rehearsal dinner. I’m definitely putting it down on my list of places to consider when the time gets closer.

Gorgeous!!!! :)
My fiancee and I are getting married in Charleston, SC but live in Charlotte, NC.
We took a trip down to Charleston and spent a Friday doing a little bar crawl! We got an appetizer and drink at each restaurant that was on our list of potential Rehearsal Dinner spots.
#4 on our list was so fantastic that we stopped looking after that!

That restaurant is so cool, and the fried green beans look delicious! I would love to have our rehearsal dinner at our favorite restaurant, but we assumed it might be too expensive. Maybe not, though! I’m feeling inspired to look into it, now!

I’m renting out a restaurant too! But they won’t let me reserve it until a month out!! It’s scary because it’s going out with the invites…I hope I don’t have to change at the last minute!
