Love Made Simple: Stars In Our Eyes

March 11th, 2009 @ 6:45 pm by Mrs. Cookie

It was that point in the evening when the reception was drawing to a close. Most of the older folks had retired for the evening, leaving us young’uns to our shenanigans and debauchery. After all, the night was still young at 10 o’clock, and we had a food and beverage minimum we had yet to meet, dang it!

Mr. Cookie and I took a moment in between dances to step outside, catch our breath, grab some water, and gaze at the stars. Isn’t the photo of the stars stunning? Our dear friend took this shot of the night sky on our wedding day. Sigh.

And speaking of stars…

At some point in the evening (I am still trying to figure out when) the wedding party sneaked off and decorated our getaway car. Now, my 2003 Toyota Echo isn’t much to look at, and my hubcap fell off during the drive up to Breckenridge, but hey, it gets amazing gas mileage! Add a “Mr. and Mrs. Cookie 4 EVA” to the side windows…

… “Just Married” to the rear windows…

… hearts to the headlights, and we had ourselves the perfect getaway car. Thanks guys!

Coming down the mountain the next morning, we got a few honks and thumbs-ups from other drivers, which made us smile and giggle.

But really, la pièce de résistance of the getaway car decoration was the confetti stars — millions and millions of confetti stars in all crevasses of our car.

Even though Mr. Cookie did an amazing job vacuuming those suckers out, we are still finding stars in the car six months later. I even found stars still stuck to my dress!

Did your wedding party decorate your getaway car? What did they do to it?

Next up: The Cookies’ last wedding recap

I think if anyone did that to our car my FI would have a cow AND kittens! Thankfully we won’t have a bridal party so HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed) nobody does that to our car… Perhaps we should hide it? LOL

Wow I can’t believe all those stars in the first picture. And that is A LOT of little metallic stars in your car. haha

Neither Mr. Bruschetta’s nor my car will be near our reception location — so we’ll just be walking off into the night (but maybe we can get our guests to toss confetti AT us?)

We are planning to do our getaway on a classic white scooter, so there won’t be much to decorate!

I love that they decorated your get away car :)
I hope they decorate the car b/c we’re not getting a limo. Our drive to the hotel is like 4 miles MAX, so paying for limo just seams ridiculous.

Must be cute to come across a little silver star now and again. Hope you saved some for your scrapbook!

Is it bad that I find the stars everywhere terribly amusing? I know they would be a pain, but it’s just kind of silly.

That is a beautiful sky picture! It must have been so amazingly bright!

That is just evil and wrong. And hilarious.

I would try to collect what you find until your anniversary, then mail them to your wedding party with a thank you card! LOL

I love that the stars aren’t ever going to “ruin” your car, just be a minor annoyance. But it must have been so fun to jump inside on the wedding night and discover them. What a gorgeous night it was outside that night!

Wow, those stars are really shining bright! I have only been through Colorado once, on a road trip to California, and I do remember how amazing the stars were.

It is so awesome that you have a picture of the star positions that night!!!

I love that someone thought of taking a picture of the stars in the sky for you. How sweet. The stars in the car, however, not so sweet!

Wowzers! Lookie all those stars in the car! That’ll take forever to clean. Looks like a lot of fun though! Good times indeed.

I had glass break in my car once and it’s been more than 5 years and I still haven’t gotten it all out. Wonder if all the stars can be cleaned out. Who cares…it’s all good!

Our lovely wedding party stopped by the local bait shop on the way to the wedding and filled our car with about 500 crickets. Nice.

If it’s any consolation, we had to ride to the airport in that car and had stars on us, too!

The best part was that Mr. Cookie drove and I was in front, so people kept honking thinking I was Mrs. Cookie! My husband was laughing in the back seat.

For my FBIL’s wedding my fiance and the other GM shoved confetti in all the heat vents so when they turned on the fans it blew out all over the place. I can’t wait to see how they get back at us…
