About Mrs. Hot Cocoa

Me N U

March 12th, 2009 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Hot Cocoa

Now that we’ve selected the delectable dishes we’re serving at the reception, I figured it was time to dig the Gocco out of my closet (a feat in and of itself) and make the menu cards.

Me N U : wedding diy los angeles menus 4301154

I scanned the lasercut motif that is on the front of our invitation into Adobe Illustrator and laid out the menu text in a mix of Feel and Georgia fonts. I then Goccoed the menu onto Kunzite paper, a metallic lilac shade from Paperandmore.com, rounded the corners, and mounted the menu onto a mix of grape, violet, and plum #10 cards from Paper Source (on sale for 50% off!).

I blinged each menu up with a jewel tone crystal, just to add a little sumthin’ sumthin’.

I think they will go nicely with our gorgeous papercut table numbers, which I framed in $1 acrylic frames from the Christmas Tree Shop.

Will you be making menus for your guests? What will yours look like?

LOVE IT!! I’ve also taken your “Chewish” wedding amalgam and am now calling my Filipino-Jewish wedding as a Fewish wedding. Not quite as cute as your Chewish wedding, but it is garnering some chuckles every time I mention it.

I love them!!! :)
We’ve decided on a heavy hors d’ oeuvres reception, and since our wedding is in the lowcountry will be writing it out on chalkboards! :)

I might have to steal that jewel idea!! It gives the menus depth and texture, and I absolutely adore it! You did a fab job, I’m drooling already! And your table numbers are AWESOME! I was curious how you would display your papercut numbers!

The color is so rich! Is the font you’ve used for the “headings” from the FeelScript family?

Love them! I think we’re going to the same vendor as our invitations so that the font and papers are consistent.. but of course let me see the price tag :-P

@peonypink: Feel font is so gorgeous, but it’s also $90 from Veer.com. It’s been worthwhile to me, since I’ve used it on everything, but since I’m a cheapskate by nature, it still burns me a little that I couldn’t find a free one. ;-)

@Brenda: Fewish! I love it! It’d also be good as Jewlipino, which sounds like a tasty drink.

@Miss Bruschetta: Yes! It’s Feel — Mr. HC hates it, but I adore it!

How did you go about rounding the corners? It’s lovely! Is there a device you can buy to round the corners?

@Erika: You can get a corner rounder in the punch section of any art store, like Michael’s or A.C. Moore. I highly recommend the Fiskar’s version, which is ergonomically designed — very important if you’re doing more than a few! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018BWIR8

Those are so lovely! I plan to stamp my menu cards and emboss them, but posts like this always make me wish I had a Gocco!
