Dressing the Boys

March 13th, 2009 @ 5:10 pm by Mrs. Quiche

It wasn’t too difficult to come up with the guys’ clothing choices to go with our casual-preppy-tropical wedding (Hawaiian shirts or linen shirts?). We opted to go with easy, breezy linen for the groomsmen. Again, I had to let go of my OCD when I brought up the probability of wrinkles, but I think I’ll be okay. I carry an iron with me on every trip I take and will even iron the shirts for the guys once we get down there. The resort also has a steamer (yes, I checked!), which will be good for my dress, too! I held out for Banana Republic’s 30% off sale and bought everything yesterday!

Mr. Quiche wanted a versatile tan suit that would look great with my dress and everyone else’s duds… with the added bonus that he can wear it to work for years to come! My only requirement was that it was to have flat front pants. He found an awesome Calvin Klein suit that was on sale!

Mini Quiche A will also wear a tan suit, with an adorable shirt from GapKids underneath, so that he can take off his jacket right after the ceremony. We’re borrowing the suit from my best friend’s wedding, so there is no expense there! Our ring bearer (my nephew) will be wearing the same shirt from GapKids with khaki pants.

We were lucky to get everything at such great prices that fit in so well with our theme.

Where did you shop for the men’s (and boys’!) clothes?

We decided the other day to get FH a great gray suit from J Crew and then have his dudes rent suits from Men’s Warehouse :)

Are the groomsmen going to have suit coats too or are they just going with the shirt and pants? I figured out what the groomsmen are going to wear, but the FI won’t let me know what he’s going to wear til the day of!

I think we’ll head to Banana Republic for Mr P’s suit. His guys will probably wear aloha shirts, and I have no clue where to get those! (maybe a department store?) :) Great job with the bargain shopping!

@MrsSl82be: The groomsmen are just wearing the shirts and pants :) We want to keep it casual!

@Miss Piglet: Try Tommy Bahama!

Our groomsmen all already own Black Suits, so I’m letting them wear their own suits and getting them coordinating ties.

I wanted the boys to wear suits, but my FI insists on tuxes!! Well, it’s his wedding too, and he had no say in what the girls are wearing, so…

Figuring this out’s on Mr. Bruschetta’a to-do list…but I still want to come to be part of the guys’ attire decision!

I went to Banana yesterday without the Mr and couldn’t help but check out the digs. Like Miss B, the attire is on Mr P’s plate, but I can’t help but contribute my two cents. :)
