About Mrs. Joey

Thank you to everyone who shared their favor preference with us. In the end, we went with the luggage tags. I know it didn’t get too many votes, but we think they will still be pretty popular with guests.

We didn’t pick the limoncello because of the price of the bottles, and because when we counted, we had over 30 people who don’t or can’t drink. We didn’t want to come up with two beverage favors. We plan to bottle the limoncello we have and gift it to people who have helped with the wedding. Also, since my sister isn’t around, we don’t have access to the discounted vodka we need until a week before the wedding. To make the Limoncello, we’d need to start now.

The trail mix was the overwhelming winner (and one of our favorites), but it turns out it is not as easy to get our hands on it as we thought it would be. Shipping it here would cost a lot. We could maybe find a place out of California or Vancouver to get it, but each mix differs, sometimes greatly. We’d want to try the variety out first. If my Uncle can get a US tourist Visa, we are going to ask him to bring 6 or 7 bags with him to Seattle. Instead of giving mini bags out as favors, we think we’ll put them out on tables and at the bar for guests to snack on. It’s likely my uncle won’t get to Seattle until a few days before the wedding, and it would be too much work to repackage them in such a short amount of time. MIL Joey will be here a week before the wedding and can start on the Chex Mix then.

Weddingbee Reader December had a great idea of just putting bowls out of both mixes with little bags and twists, and having guest help themselves. I really like this idea. I also thought of just having bowls out of the mix at the after party. If we can buy the Sri-Lankan mix in Sri-Lanka, and my uncle can bring them with him. Each large bag would cost less than $1, and would fill 20 smaller bags. But all this would depend on whether my uncle could secure a tourist Visa.

The recipe cards were also popular, but for some reason we just weren’t as into them. Besides, we’d only have one or two family recipes to share, as the Lake Union Cafe is catering the event. We’re doing a breakfast bar and are thinking of incorporating recipes there. I’ll explain this in another post.

The CDs seemed like a lot of work and we’d have to make several versions to ensure no family went home with multiple copies of a CD.

Yeah, we didn’t like the puzzle much either. Too cheesy for us.

So we’re going against the crowd and have decided to give out luggage tags. We found a great deal online. We got 150 luggage tags holders for $85.

We know a lot of you let us know that favors often end up in the trash, but we’re hoping these will prove to be more useful. We’ve decided that while all the luggage tags will feature variations of our wedding colors, none of them will refer to the wedding itself. We’re personalizing the front and leaving the personal information side blank for guests to fill out. I like this particular favor because I can work on it even when I’m traveling. As people RSVP, I can personalize their luggage tag on the road.

So we’re asking for your help again. Please let us know which designs you like. I think we’re going to go with 5 or 6 designs. Both Mr. Joey and I will select our favorites and the top 3 or 4 designs selected by Weddingbee readers will complete the set. Sorry about the clarity of the pictures. When I turned the .pdfs into .jpegs, they got a little fuzzy. We also have kids coming, so we’d like to have a choice or two for the little ones.

So many choices! I really like that you’re personalizing them for each guest…will these also serve as escort cards?

I like the flowers for women, the ABC text for men, and the chicks/umbrella/panda for kids.

I guess I can’t choose either. Good Luck!

Where did you find the luggage tags if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been looking for relatively affordable ones and haven’t been able to find anything decent that I’ll want to give to my guests.

I like the Dots

I love the flowers but I choose the dots (Lan Vu) because I think it would stand out the most when you’re staring the the luggage carousel wondering where oh where is my suitcase. :)

I liked the luggage tags the best when I read your last post, but there were already so many responses that I didnt’ write one myself. I think it’s a great favour! And good call on not slapping your names/wedding date all over it. Everyone may love you, but they’ll probably appreciate not having your wedding date on their luggage for the rest of their lives! That’s why with our photo booth we’ve chosen to have the printed pics say our names/date on the strip in between the pictures as opposed to on the photo itself. THat way people can cut it out if they want to :)

Great idea! And all of your reasons make a LOT of sense. Although we readers might think limoncello or chex mix is a good idea (they were all good ideas!), you also have to consider what it will take to put the favors together, and get them done on time.

If you REALLY want people to use them, I think its a great idea not to put your names/date on them like you said. No one wants a tag with someone else’s name on it. AND, whenever they pull out their suitcase and see it, they will still think of you and your wedding, even if they don’t see your name.

I like the flowers the best. Could you do flowers for the girls and then maybe something more manly for the guys… like the plain text, suitcases, or ABC text. And maybe the raccoon eyes for the kids!

Can’t wait to see how these turn out!

I want to pick more than one. :( I LOVE the dots, alphabet, chick, & mix tape. I think the racoon eyes would be cute for kids.

I think it’s a super cute idea provided you personalize them for your guests. No one wants a luggage tag with your wedding date on it - as harsh as that sounds!

It would be a super cute idea to use them as escort cards as well. Line them up and put a card with the table number on it in front of each row of luggage tags.
