Check It Off My List!

March 16th, 2009 @ 12:46 pm by Mrs. Glitter

Oooh, I’m so happy right now. The bridesmaids’ dresses are purchased and the order is being processed as we speak!

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about my decision to go with David’s Bridal dresses. But then I decided David’s Bridal was too big of a hassle. My girls would actually need to get in their cars, get out of their cars, walk from their cars to the store, then things would need to be tried on, and finally ordered. Oh, the effort! Also, I wasn’t convinced that the dress was really my style. It had the general look I was going for, but something wasn’t right.

I quickly moved on to other options that would appeal to a no-nonsense bride such as myself. As mentioned before, I have trouble ordering clothing over the internet. I usually like to touch the fabric and see things in person. So I knew I had to go with a company that I trusted. I had recently been cursing J.Crew left and right for teasing me with beautiful gowns and price tags that were out of my budget. Well, thank goodness my eagle eye was out last week. For some reason, I was continually overlooking the J.Crew Sophia Short Dress. Price: $150. I had to do a double take, because I couldn’t believe there was a J.Crew dress within my BUDGET.

I was even more overjoyed a few days later when I got an email in my inbox stating, “J.Crew’s Secret Sale - 20% off orders of $175 or more.” Umm, heck yeah!

My one bit of advice about J.Crew: if you can, wait around for their sales. They frequently offer fabulous online deals.

With the discount, I purchased the dresses through jcrew.com for $120 each, plus shipping and handling. Here is a picture of the dress!! (Theirs will be in black.)

So simple — but gorgeous! — and definitely rewearable! Great tip on exercising patience (which I usually totally lack) to get great J.Crew deasl!

I’m about to order my bridesmaid dresses from J Crew also, but I’m wondering if you mind sharing about the sale? I didn’t get an email about it, but I’d love to know the promo code. Can you email me?

This is such a great dress with a classic sihouette. I absolutely love it & am thinking of getting it in ivory for my late night reception dress. Great choice, Miss G!

My bridesmaids are also wearing JCrew, and they got the dress during a special sale. Some of the dresses are a bit over priced, but if you can hold out for a sale, it’s not too bad. I got my wedding dress for $111.

My maids are wearing that dress in silk chiffon! I love the dress and I actually bought one of last season’s colors on sale for myself (bright rhubarb) for $60! It fits really well and is very flattering. You’ll love them!

@Dash: Darn, the sale is over! I’ll try and keep my eye out for future special emails and post about them. Also, you can probably get on their email list by signing up on their website (but I’m not quite sure how that works…), and be warned that you will receive almost daily email alerts from them.

My MOH insisted on David’s Bridal, but she got it on sale, so I don’t feel too bad! I just hope she actually likes the dress and didn’t just pick the first yellow dress she kinda liked…

I was trying to get her to buy a J.Crew, but I’ve insisted (to myself) that I would let my MOH choose her own, so…{{shrug}}

Great dress - I wore this in royal blue for my friend’s wedding this past summer. It was really comfortable and I totally appreciated the price!
